I inherited a 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis from my grandparents in the early '90's. My grandfather, as I discovered, was a huge Redd Foxx fan. He left his collection of Redd Foxx 8 tracks in the glove box. That's when I was first introduced to his standup comedy. I had been a fan of Sanford and Son (in syndication) before that. Without Redd, we'd probably never have Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock or Jamie Foxx. A treasure.
Your grandfather was a great dude. My grandfather had the vinyl albums and would play them in his basement as I was sitting at the bar. I was 7 years old. He got in so much trouble for teaching me such bad things…. 😂 My Grandfather died in 2019 at 89 years old. I now have his collection of vinyl, which includes his Redd Foxx albums.

Redd Foxx has been my comedy idol since I was little. He was a brilliant man. His catalog of jokes are timeless. His stage presence doing stand up or on the t.v., was what most of today's comedians strive for. Sanford a& Son is still on my morning watch list everyday as I have coffee. Thank you for this video

I met him a few times when my friends and I would pass by his house on Eastern and Tropicana in 1988. He was grumpy and tell us he was on his way to work at the Hacienda, his Asian wife would give us water and drinks. Sometime later we were riding our bikes and seen a whole bunch of news trucks, so we went to check it out and it was the IRS taking everything out of his house while he was calling them all mother fuckers etc… When they took his watch he lost it with them all.
I really enjoyed this. I wasn't allowed to listen to Redd Foxx when I younger. Although I am now proudly 66, I didn't seek out any of his comedy recordings. Thank you so much for sharing this gem!!

Redd foxx was so real, i had a great aunt that was a female version of him name Grace Jones, shr was in he 70s and raising me at 16, my freinds would come over just to hear her cuss at me and talk, everything she said was funny and genuine. I miss her at time especially when i see Fred.

I loved Sanford and son as a kid. Then I discovered his comedy tapes when I was in my early 20's. After all these years he still makes me laugh
Redd foxx was so real, i had a great aunt that was a female version of him name Grace Jones, shr was in he 70s and raising me at 16, my freinds would come over just to hear her cuss at me and talk, everything she said was funny and genuine. I miss her at time especially when i see Fred.

I saw this back in the early 80s. It was a riot, and I really enjoyed it.
I used to spend my allowance money on Redd Foxx albums and sneak them in the house when I was around 12 years old. I played them when my mom wasn’t home. I repeated the jokes at school. I had my friends dying laughing. Man, God bless you for bringing back my childhood memories. 🙏🏽

What a great piece! Thanks Team Foxx for uploading this great comedian. I can remember as a kid growing up in Vegas, my dad used to work security at Caesar’s Palace and I once met Redd in between his shows. What a sweet guy, very cordial and polite. Once again thanks for posting this. He is truly missed. One of the very best.👍
