I'm so happy to see that you put a grip handle on the little magazine fed Cobra. I commented on your initial video because I thought it looked dangerous to hold the fron of the weapon while loading it. Not something that was a problem with the unmodified version, but was hazardous with the modified one, since the bolt would load itself during cocking. Again, glad to see the grip handle, which btw looks like a lot more comfortable way of cocking the Cobra than the original method.
Haha ... seit Weihnachten hab ich genau diese Armbrust. Tolles teil, sicher machen wir da auch ein Video zu. Danke fürs chronen und die Idee mit dem Magazin :-)
If someone was to ever put a crossbow magazine kit in the market for both regular size and mini size crossbow they can make a lot of money. Not all of us has create & build capabilities but we do enjoy watching the process.
Thanks for the tip!! I did it with a man kung "80lbs" crossbow. Its almost hard to span the string but its worth the extra power. First it didnt stick in a tree and now sticks in the tree tightly
I'm playing a game called Dark-souls 2 and there's a crossbow that can fire 3 bolts at a time; the name of the weapon is "Avelyn" and I was wondering if you could make a crossbow that shoots 3 or more blots at a time.
Coldwolf I remember that from DS1. It has 3 limbs, probably 3 triggers, that all activate in order. Kinda a cascade (domino) effect. Not the most practical, but it's still fun. I also think it's probably possible to make, just not 100% like the in game one (the in game model has gears and stuff on it that aren't necessary, most likely).
Coldwolf I've not given the logistics a huge amount of thought, but it shouldn't be overly difficult. there are different issues to be dealt with depending on whether you want the bolts to follow the same (more or less) path or fan out, but both should be achievable, the accuracy is unlikely to be fantastic though.
It would be sweet if you modified the smaller version so the trigger could be on the fore-grip that way you would not have to move your hand from the cocking mechanism to the trigger each shot it would up the firing speed!
Honest man I got this crossbow from UK crossbows with some arrows for like £55 and I love it, I don't hunt I just find it fun but no where as fun as a standard bow and arrow. As soon as I got it I wanted to find a crossbow mod and what a surprise our trusty friend joerg is there when we need him 🤣
I have an old Barnett Commando 175 lb crossbow that has a similar self-cocking mechanism. That would be great with your magazine attachment! I need plans!
There is an in between way. If you string only the bottom notch with the bow in the regular direction you would have more pretension than normal and the bow would take a more recurve shape.
As always creative and talented build. I have always been a lurker, but some thoughts came to mind that I thought Joerg Sprave and fans would know this, so it is time to comment. Do you think barrel staves could be used for bow limbs? They come in all sorts of woods depending on the wine or liquor contained, but would they be strong enough or have enough elasticity to form into a bow?
I mounted to springs from a trampoline from the horn in the front to each side of the crossbow bow ends an it seemed to have more power you'd have to text it with your machines
i have been looking for one of these on amazon but i cant find any that look like this with the wood stock on the front, i can only find them on European stores, where would you look?
Wouldn't that also put more wear on the bow limb? I know I was told not to string a reversed recurve and self bow, since that'll break at the drop of a hat...
Pure genius! Unlike you Herr Sprave, I'm not a mechanical wizard... so could you send me the instructions/plans for modding that full-size crossbow into a repeater?
Would you show us how you made the clip thing that holds the bolts? I got a cobra crossbow for christmas and I would love to make one of those, I just don't know how!
joerg i made my own bolts using a metal rod and more using brass dowel. i cut them at 5 inch and sharped worked great the force it hit with was way beter than any store bought bolt i would love for you to make your own and test them ....velocity fps and impact
This seriously reminds me of the Chinese belly crossbow. It was used the same way as some people would use a shotgun for home defense. Since it could fire multiple rounds and wasn't really that powerful. More like a children's toy. the only other person that I've actually seen with the configuration very similar to the one you made was on a show on History Channel I forget the name but the guy made his crossbow like a machine gun. The only problem was he had an electric battery and it was mainly comprised of aluminum. This me the cross bow very unwieldy in hard to aim. He was using a crossbow very similar to yours as a frame and then just build around it.
Awesome as always! I have a pistol crossbow that is similar, except it gets pulled straight back as opposed the the sort of cocking action of yours. It makes for quite a fun shoot. :)
Stunning video. Now, how about a self-cocking 3 prod crossbow that could fire 3 pre-cocked bolts one after another (with 3 successive trigger pulls), rather like a semi-auto effect? It would be quite an engineering feat, if possible at all... And one might need to take up body building just to cock the 3 prods at once.
What about the bow snapping any risk you think? My daughter is begging me to.do this with hers but i wanted to know if you saw any signs of wear other than the norm? Because its also quieter (from your video)
It would be paramount to know if the bow was aluminum or laminated fiberglass. It may be layered to curve and store and release its energy in the normal direction. It could shatter reversed. Picture an automotive rear leaf spring, its designed to suspend the vehicle, not have anything hanging. Good fun though Joerg.
I would love to see if there’s any tricks to getting a 175lb limb to fit the cobra RX or adder. I’ve got the 130lb version and would love to tweak it a bit 😁
Add a 110lb limb from ek archery to the 130lb ek archery limb it came with. Will increase the joules by just over double. This guy has a video on it actually.
The recurves forward ensures a lot less material of the bow have to move as far. Turning them around the opposite way would do the opposite. A preferable option would just be having a base that's a lot straighter or even forward bent when not strung, but still having the recurves forward. Of course, gotta work with what you have though..
I love your videos! I saw your target in the video, did you make it yourself? I can not afford to buy a good target for my crossbow, so I want to make one myself. Can you please tell me what I can use to make a good target? Thank you so much Jorge, and God bless you sir! Don Miller
joerg you need to point out that when you crono a 6+ftlb rating from the cross bow its not quite the same as 6ft+lb from an air rifle....getting hit by the pellet and this bow wouldn't even be close to the same injury....the arrow will slam the crap out of you, the rifle pellet will struggle to pass through clothing alone . that arrow will make light work of a vest t shirt and jumper and still go fletching deep in a torso, 120gr+ arrows this bow will keep you safe...people seeing that ftlb rating will be thinking its weak not even close to a full power uk air rifles when it fact its way more deadly. 👍
Joerg, you mostly do your slingshots focused on power, not on reload speed. You made a lot of slingshot weapon that could be reloaded fast because of ammo delivery system. Could anything like this be done to a simple slingshot? Maybe some system that is attached to your wrist so you don't have to take the ball out of the pocket every time you need to do another shot. This could also improve fire rate in addition to power. P.S. I got some thoughts. The ball somehow falls in the middle of your hand when you put it down. Than you touch the ball with the magnet attached to your thumb to stick it to the thumb. Everything else is pure skill.
A magnet in the slingshot saddle?? And a bucket of shot in front of you. Pinch + Aim + Release. Would take a fraction of energy away, but you could carry out a test to see the difference.
Bow limbs are recurve to prevent stacking which is non functional draw weight however your mod did not appear to exceed 45 degrees string angle and the chronograph proved it was a functional MOD. Very tricky idea, I never thought of it.
Does anyone know if bow/crossbow fishing it's legal in Germany and/or France? If so, what are the conditions? Also, it's legal to own a crossbow in Germany and use it outdoor for target practice? What are the conditions of owning one, if any apply? (i'm WAY over 18yo, if this matter)
I live in germany an can say, all crossbows are legal. But You need to be over 18. You cann fish with that Thing, But You only on Your own place. fishing in is more illegal with that Thing. I hope i can help some people with that.
Hello Joerg, i had a question concerning your modifications. I live in America and I'm pretty some companies have the right to sue if you alter or modify the product, as well as void the warranty (if any) have you ever had this problem or is it different in Germany?
Instead of reversing the prod, has anyone tried just adding a second prod in front of the first? I bought this model with an extra prod. and both fit into the slot together. I'm sure it will shorten string life and probably put a lot of stress on the frame that it was not designed to handle perhaps causing it to break.
Mach mal slapshoter. Wer das will, LIKE!!!
There all made by Man Kung the bigger one is a python. Be careful when buying a crossbow, quite a few places are rebranding and selling for a lot more money, Man Kung do a 120lb full size crossbow for about £50 and also a 150lb for around £75. There actually well made and work great, to me they look amazing value for money when compared to say a Barnett which would easily cost 3-4x as much and are only marginally better.
I love watching all your work, Joerg! Keep it up. Do you think a little crossbow like this would be a good defense weapon for someone living in a highrise condo, or would a slingshot be a better weapon to deter would be marauders? I don't have or really want a full out firearm.
HonoluluTita Well, it very much depends on the attacker and his weapon. Usually it works best if you outweapon your opponent by a great deal. If you don't - run.
if you can get a firearm legally, go with the firearm. why try shooting someone with a crossbow bolt or steel ball, possibly only enraging the them without chance of loading another shot, and if not, grievously wounding them anyway. if you dont feel confident you'd use a firearm there is little chance you'd use a bow or slingshot in the same situation. you'd need extensive training for those situations, and out of the three, firearms are by far the easiest to use and get trained for. if you dont want to kill a home invader buy a big can of bear repellent, something thats bound to scare off marauding bears will work wonders on marauding humans.
Xc31 No I can handle weapons, I was in the Army. Its just that having and registering a firearm in the USA opens you up to home invasions and greater scrutiny now. Having a weapon and being a veteran already makes me a possible "terrorist" in our governments eyes right now. Anyway, I was trying to go incognito as much as possible.
HonoluluTita I'm not from the U.S., so I could very well be wrong (state law, etc) but according to the ATF website you only have to register machineguns, short barrel rifles, short barrel shotguns, destructive devices and anything that is a gun but does not looks like one. seems to me that you can get a normal shotgun or pistol without registering but again, I could be wrong.
Joerg Please be incredibly careful flipping crossbow limbs like that you could back tension or twist the limb and it could snap and i really don't want to hear one of my favorite youtubers was impaled. All it takes is one place lifting for a catastrophic chain reaction and the limb will snap because i don't think the belly on any commercial bow is treated and reinforced enough to be shot backwards . SO Really PLEASE be careful . Do bench shots with a string and a vice and a rope to fire and draw .
...and wear a Kevlar suit of armor, wear hearing protection to guard against the high frequency sound when the string snaps, make sure your health insurance is up to date.... blah, blah blah.....and wear a jacket or you will catch a cold. To quote the title from Adam Corolla's book, "In fifty years, we'll all be chicks" WTF!
Putting a crossbow prod on backwards, now why have I never thought of that?...Maybe because I'm not f***ing crazy lol. Joerg you always think outside the box & that is your genious but I get the impression you wouldn't make this bizarre modification if it was really dangerous for the user. A flipped crossbow limb increases the stroke length by a few increases when you take into consideration also the higher pre tension which makes sense for a 42% increase in energy. However you have to ask yourself why didn't the manufacturers just design & intend to use it this way if it is better, because there the experts right? Well that's common sense the fibreglass prod isn't designed to be under such high pre stress levels constantly & also not to be drawn back that far & in reverse & as for the knock ends & the string well these aren't tested to this much stress either. Joerg has a wealth of experience & with the strengthening mods he is satisfied that it is safe short term but sooner or later that prod is guaranteed catastrophic failure. However physics says that when this happens the stored energy shouldn't send the prod fragments towards the user but rather the opposite direction (roughly) but it's anyones guess where the string would go & what will fail first, the string, the knock ends, the limb/prod or even the latch which is holding the string in the cocked position. All these variables are a big no no for manufacturers which is why this is a bad idea but then again Joerg is an expert, is prepared to take risks but in my opinion should be appearing to take extreme caution & letting his viewers know this. Would I recommend this or even do it myself, no absolutely not lol :-)
MixavitaPlus haha, us crossbow nerds like detailed comments regaringour hobby. If you don't read it because it's too long then your not our kind of nerd & therefore on a completely different wavelength. His loss, bothered haha :-)

That repeating design is pure genius! A nice alternative for explosive firearms too in a world that has run out of bullets.
The funny thing is that I found this channel when searching for non lethal weapons
joerg why shoot at a block of ballistic gelatin when you can make something that can shoot a block of ballistic gelatin
Darren Lin Ballistic gelatin, much emphasis on ballistic. Love it.
LOL
I agree. And why shoot with the crossbow, when he can make something that can shoot the crossbow :)
***** We need to go deeper.

Joerg has so much enthusiasm! Great show.
When you put the mag on the little one that design looks amazing.
It's been respravemagined

Pistol Crossbow Ek-Archery Cobra

Pistol Crossbow Man kung Alligator 80 LBS
Machst echt coole videos!! Du bist einer der wenigen deutschen die sowas echt gut können weiter so!! :-)
You're a bloody legend mate haha!
i love the laugh :)
195 fps? TotalBiscuit approves.
rest in peace
Quite snow-free there for early-mid January. I wonder how long the bow will last with all that extra tension. ;-)
Nice job on magnumizing the crossbow pistol Joerg.
Cool content, cool channel, cool dude, your name kicks ass!!!
Just bought the cobra and I cant stop shooting it!
i and many others would buy blueprints for your crossbow magazines!
Well done, you made a simple tool out perform it self, great job.
Even this crossbow is illegal in Norway! amazing stuff.
YES WE LIKED IT !!!!!! you are quite a good looking man when shaven !!
Just like Tim Taylor would say on tool time!!! " MORE POWER!!!"
Ja das stimmt ich wollte ja nur fragen trotzdem vielen Dank das Sie sich die Zeit für mich genommen haben
i wanna see all your weapons 'you' have made in your whole life man! :D
I always enjoy your videos.
"and it is devestating, HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA" i love this dude lmao
Great video, I love the way you think.
I'd be interested in knowing the longterm performance of this modification with a stress test.
It will probably last about 15 shots before the string snaps in your face and takes your eye out mate lol
but sorry, it's snowing and you are in t-shirt? ha ha ha very strong man!
I'm playing a game called Dark-souls 2 and there's a crossbow that can fire 3 bolts at a time; the name of the weapon is "Avelyn" and I was wondering if you could make a crossbow that shoots 3 or more blots at a time.
Do they follow the same path, or fan out? Either way it shouldn't be too difficult to achieve.
***** Do you real think it could be made..? because that would be so cool!

***** I don't know much about crossbows, Could you explain what path and fan out are to me?
love your vids, i just bought a small crossbow, its basically that cobra with a short stock
It would be sweet if you modified the smaller version so the trigger could be on the fore-grip that way you would not have to move your hand from the cocking mechanism to the trigger each shot it would up the firing speed!
Joerg, Your laugh reminds me of a James Bond villian:)
Thats righttttttttt ahahahhahhahahahahahahahahah

Thats awesome, now you have to pull harder to get the bolts out of the target, and it only costs the warranty and maybe some doctor bills.
Doctor is free in my Country(UK)
@@iamrocketray The bow isn't though
Love Jörg. He really is a genius.
I have an old Barnett Commando 175 lb crossbow that has a similar self-cocking mechanism. That would be great with your magazine attachment! I need plans!

With the repeating pistol crossbow why not set up a trigger from the front fore grip, it would make it a LOT quicker.

This guy is a beast! I have that same rifle crossbow and I need to use the stirrup to draw and cock mine :(
Jorge are you planning to kit the magazine box for youtubers?
matthew ferguson No such plans at the moment. Too complex for hand made, not enough volume for mass production.

My name is Paul I lick your Chanel it is very cool Cepe it up
were can i buyt it?
JoergSprave If I had the room I would certainly set up a Santa Slayer. That would outgun them all. LOL
***** Safety? Boring.
JoergSprave BEST COMMENT EVER!!! hahahahahaha
...and wear a Kevlar suit of armor, wear hearing protection to guard against the high frequency sound when the string snaps, make sure your health insurance is up to date.... blah, blah blah.....and wear a jacket or you will catch a cold.
To quote the title from Adam Corolla's book, "In fifty years, we'll all be chicks" WTF!
JoergSprave Cant believe you're being so imprudent.
***** if a bow is drawn back the same distance every time its original brace height wont affect the final draw weight.
Too long, didn't read.
Justin V. "I can assimilate opinions as long as they are max 140 characters long brain farts." Good for you.
MixavitaPlus haha, us crossbow nerds like detailed comments regaringour hobby. If you don't read it because it's too long then your not our kind of nerd & therefore on a completely different wavelength. His loss, bothered haha :-)
blades&militariaUK The dude who I was replying at deleted his comment. My work here is done.
blades&militariaUK Seriously? It's a joke, I actually did read it lmao. I've been a crossbow enthusiast for years.
