As soon as I get the first part of the mission finished and have to go see Burgle for the first time, I begin building a permanent base at the tree. I always build in the same location and it's easy to get safe early on even from Wolf siders. Build between the roots below the guardian light. The only easy way in is the one hole under the root opposite the light. It opens out on to the path that goes to the Orb weaver's area and that one research station. There you can build a wall and door even a window to block off access. Unless the spiders see you in there they don't really react much to your presence as the roots are fat and make and tall and make for a great barrier. From that point at ground level, you have Food (Acorn bits on the ground) and even water sometimes (Dew on the underside of one of the leaves that covers the spot). You can build up to the base of the tree then out to either side. Using the start location as a basement and back entrance. Ground raids here are easy to deal with as they are fairly easy to funnel into the door. Liberal use of spikes leaving a small path through for you, and you can keep them all at bay. As you build up your able to use the two roots your between as foundations for walls and you can make a fine and easily defended castle here. You have a central place from almost the start of the game. I've run 5 playthroughs using this as my primary spot and compared to any other it's the easiest (Resorces, access, food and water) and most central I've found.
I think its still better to build at the oak tree section of the pond on the rocks. As you said an issue with the one side is that there is not a lot of resources to really do anything unless you get a staircase going to the upper yard. Along the other bank of the pond you have tons resources. Grass, stem, flower pedals, clover, mushrooms etc. you also barely any bugs to deal with while on the other side there are mosquitoes patrolling around. You’re also close to the oak lab and Burgl so you have easier access to that stuff. Overall its much better imo.
The wife and I built our main base on the lily pads, but now have a new base starting at the top of the axe-log near the wood shed. Thought it was a good idea for the termite glue and lint/dust mites.
5:02 is the best base. You will never get affected by raids. Only the ants and they are easy to kill and they won’t be able to dmg you. You can use the wooden post to avoid the spiders early game. It’s also in the middle which I love
The base location at 4:55 is very good! When I played with a pal, we used this place for a base. But it had one downside what annoyed me pretty much. Tons of ants gather together below the rock. They were annoying with their sounds they make. But on the other hand this was a good kind of ant farm. ;D
have a base inside the Coffee Maschine :D My Main Base is a little Town on the Pond. Never had a Raid on it. build the town on the leaves. Also a Ship and a big museum. An entire House and a lot more. All on the Pond. A basketball Stadium as well.
@@FreeStamps Thx. i also build a 14 floor high Tower for ziplines to travel all the places on the map. it looks like a wizard Tower. Stone, wood, stone, wood and so on and the pointed feather roof on top ^^
Building a treehouse on the oak tree is the best location period. Middle of the map and also absolutely nothing at all, not even bees or mosquitoes can get up. It’s also incredibly cozy and you can build zip lines to every single place on the entire map. Nothing at all compares.
Yeah but getting resources up there is a huge pain, running down the stairs and them the root just to get grass is really hard and time consuming so that’s why I’m going to switch to I base on the lemon crime box so I’m still elevated
@@PurpleDuck47 it really isn’t painful. You are just doing it wrong. Build a straight stairway that you can simp,y just run up and down in less than 4 seconds (use clover roof not stairs), and then build a staircase going down from the root. Once you do that it takes a full 6 seconds to get all the way up or down.
@@theelderswear Haha yeah try to scout around before you build a base lol, I built my first base on a hill beside the mystery machine because I was too much of a pussy to leave
Everyone keeps saying, "the only thing you'll have to worry about is the flying insects." Which are pretty horrible. My base keeps getting raided by mosquitos. At first it was 2, then 3. I rebuilt my base to be a bunker made of pebble foundations and put spike sticks all over it. That worked for a while. Now there are 5 that come every couple of in-game days and they are destroying my base again.
4:38, the orb weaver pinned me inside the analysis tent and attacked me relentlessly. Unable to move or exit. Def did not just walk past me like on your playthrough.
My only base was at the edge of the hedge. Climb ontop of the lab. Jump on a branch. Run across the branch until you reach the one with the tie rip looking out on the yard. Perfect location. Don't see any reason to build elsewhere
When building, you'll see a number that says "supporting" on it. If there's anything higher than, like, 2 or 3, your entire base hinges upon that piece staying intact. What I did was to build scaffolding underneath the structure and the stairs, and get it all connected to the tree. Now if my stairs go down, the rest of the base survives.
I tried to build on that wall of stumps near the tree with the orb spiders. It was early, didnt go well, died several times and gave up. only 6 hours in, i built a starter/storage base near the hot plate(?) ,where the lasers meet. Tough game at first, nearly quit while getting the first chip in the stupid hedge maze😂. died alot
i recommend honestky building wherever you think is coolest there isnt much in this game yet so you can get to ENDGAME pretty fast and by that i mean you have all the armour big bases and can just do whatever tf you want. wanna kill the ibm?? just go for it have fun. you dont need to do anything at that point
I’m planning on a base I’ve been trying to figure out how I wanna build it. And yeah the endgame comes fast but for me I wanna just have a dope base and get as many things collected as I can.

I prefer to just build on the top of the light itself. Free food below at early game is a bonus

If you want a fun place to build I always do the soda can near the tree you can build right in the can it’s easy to defend too

Number 3 is where I built my castle! Beware with that flat rock spot bombadiers can aggro and shoot acid up there.
Yeah It seemed like that was possible, wasn’t sure though

My problem is I plugged the haze and I want to build up there but the infected wolf spider is a pain in the butt

I built my first base in a bunch of entangled roots under the lamp at oak tree. The wolf spiders came for me

You can use the ox beetle cave south of moldork castle
@@thedarethnator2216
They respawn there though?
@@StealthyZombie not if you build there
Put down a few Pendleton foundations or your choice of floor and they won’t respawn
You can also turn off faction raids if you don’t like them

I chose the house porch, I still get raided by ants, they actually spawn up there in raids unfortunately, but still a decent spot
That oak lab stump has a mosquito that messes it with it too. Just did my first base there and was awful idea. Also ants will raid that spot too.
Not if u build up high
I have a house on top of the brick wall it's great nothing can raid me
My oak tree stair case fell down from a orb weaver raid and with it came my whole base you saying oak tree as base made me shed a tear lol

Hedge is super easy if you bring white dandelion spores with you, you can use them to prevent fall damage

My base on top of the baseball served me well.
I build my base inside the oak tree, and connected into the pond😂 so yeah my base on the water
your name is freestamps but you lack time stamps. Thank you for the informative video none the less.
All base locations videos show places that you can't be raided. That takes a big chunk of the fun of the game.
Nice video! But I wanna see you struggle
The flat rock is my all time favorite location
I built a base before finding the hedge lad.
I have a base on top of the moth place
I built my house in a soda can
Great spots but the vid was Hella dark, made it really hard to see at times.
I think it may have been the time of day in the game that made it dark. But I see what your talking about.
@@FreeStamps it was the time of day, yes. Don't forget, you can go into camera mode and change it to daytime for similar videos.
