Didn't feel like camping in Gary or Hammond so you drove to SB :D Just got back from sitting on my Brooks saddle, rode out to Sycamore area, my ass is killing me! Centuries wrecked me, 140 miles, wow dude. Be safe!
This is really really impressive, I tour on an e-bike but defiantly can't do those kind if miles! Looking forward to seeing this trip.I live right outside of Boston and have toured all around the area.
True. 5-6 hours (for me) with stops (groceries, bill-paying, etc.) means chafing and soreness. This is good for about 45 miles or so under electrification. I don’t come close to his speeds.
I rode my ebike from Joliet to Providence RI in 2022 using the Erie canal trail. Plan carefully when crossing the Hudson river. I used the Rip Van Winkle bridge. (about 40 miles south of Albany) Most of the bridges are expressway that don't allow bicycles.
I always worry about a hotel’s policy regarding bikes in rooms. So far I’ve been lucky and had no issues. Sorry you had to deal with that at the end of a long day. I just learned of your channel after listening to you on the PedalShift Project. Looking forward to watching more episodes.
Been hoping for this video. I have an e-bike. I have the dream of taking her for a long trip. Though I would be a 20-40 mile/day and hotel camper. Still, I love seeing how you face challenges.
@BikingBrian, I wonder if you would consider posting a video with the gear you take with you on these e-bike tours. You’ve inspired me to take my e-bike on a tour of some kind, and I’d love to connect. Would also love to see a video about how you got started, important things to remember, or something like that. I know there are resources online but I really like your style the way you go about your travels. Thanks for posting!
Great job Brian. I have been looking forward to this series fir awhile. Your range on that bike is unbelievable. Would you ever be willing to share your entire set up? Bike/battery/ motor? If I could manage 150 mike actual range be a game changer for a ride I’m planning for next year
Hey, Brian. I really admire you, that you go on multiple multi-day bicycle tours/adventures every year -- I think that's great! It's also been cool to see your dad ride along with you on some of these trips. Was he the person who got you into bicycling and bicycle touring? Keep up the great work. Maybe when I retire in 1-2 years I'll get out on the road more often! BTW, you should place a Super Thanks feature on your videos. Some of us would likely buy you a beer from time to time. Cheers!
I'm familiar with the processes of building 21700 batteries. Im just now accumulating tools to build a 52V battery. Q: I'm not sure what (brand) spot welder to search for. Also a reputable supplier for fish paper, nickel strips etc. Im on the look out for bulk Samsung or LG 21700 5000mah cells too. I'm in no rush. Building up for a new hobby.
So I used an Arduino spot welder that connects to either a 12v car battery or an rc car pack. It works great, cheap fully adjustable. It’s from malectrics.eu/product/diy-arduino-battery-spot-welder-kit-v3-2-2-full_bundle_car_battery/ Also make sure you get real nickel strip. A lot of fake stuff out there.
Brian - I love your channel. Especially the ebike tours. How many miles does each one of your batteries take you and how many batteries to you carry, including the one installed on your bike while riding?
Just found your channel, got sucked in, and have been binge-watching your different adventures throughout the day today. Over 100 miles a day... what? My Butt kills after about 20 to 25 miles and that's with stopping a few times to get the blood flowing again... and I got a Brooks saddle. How do you manage your power needs? 140mile... that's gotta be pushing 4 batteries??
Wattage means absolutely nothing on a mid-drive except for riding illegally fast under ideal conditions. The average touring cyclist rides 12.5mph, so 15 should be plenty fast. I have a 250 watt Ananda in my shop that blows away my buddy's 750 watt BBSO2B climbing hills. Now, if I want anything to sell worth a darn, I need to push the 750 watt units, but it really is torque that does the jib for you...well that and peak wattage which is why 250 watt Bosch motors can compete with all the much higher rated wattage bikes we get from Vhina, here in The U.S.
@@MHH3180is that 12.5 figure an average speed, or? Note: this is a bit faster than I usually go, if you speak of an average - this being under electrification.
@@dennisyoung4631 we averaged, over several traditional bike touring groups several years ago to come up with that number. Not one member disagreed. Personally, I think we were all bragging up our numbers a bit. It makes sense to when you consider that the average speed over The TDF is still under 25, includes many decent and a flat and aero time trial. These are highly skilled freaks of nature, riding on carefully chosen amd groomed closed courses. Even thry still manage to crash and even die from time to time. There is no good reason to believe any e-bike is near so safe.
@@MHH3180 the “Google Maps”speeds tent to be “about” 11 MPH, and I find if I’m going over familiar ground - not getting lost, or having to consult a route map - the time projected is within 10% of how long it takes me, as a rule. Given advancing age, age-related infirmities, age-related health problems, and related matters, it’s either electrification or nothing for any *real* distance in many cases. There are a number of places I need to visit *regularly* where public transport isn’t realistically workable. And yes, 25 km/h would realistically work for me the vast majority of the time. I rarely go over that speed unless I’m coasting downhill.
We love ur videos but two things: 1. Please film more of ur meals and 2. Consider renaming ur channel “Brian bikes Brewerys “ Also do u have 2 Batteries?
It's good to see you back on the e-bike, Brian! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your journey.
Yeah, another tour with Brian :) I always love coming along on your bike trips. Great content and scenery.
Another great adventure! Thank you 🙏 Brian for taking us along. Safe travels. 😊
loved your touring, thanks for inspiring video, hope everyone try ebike touring that's awesome
Glad you enjoyed it!

I love that you maintain a proper cadence. Too many stress their frame and drive train riding in too high of a gear.
I agree! And stressing your body. Thanks for watching!
The cars were so pissed. Awesome trip.
Glad to see you off on another adventure. That's some serious mileage. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
Glad to see you back in the saddle, I was wondering when you'd do another trip, I can't wait for the next episode.
So happy to see more of your awesome adventures around the US, this is something to look forward to ❤
Very excited to come along with you Brian! Maybe if you address you bike as " your emotional support bicycle" they will let you bring it in...lol

Sweet ride, I gotta get an E-Bike. See you on the road.

I have been looking forward to your next long distance ebike journey. I'm excited to see what all happened on this journey. Time to start watching!
Can't wait to see more about your bike.
Yes!!! Been waiting on this! Love your videos!!
Thanks for the ride along 🚴💥⚡⚡⚡
That bug on your shoulder at 3:12 , holding on for dear life the poor thing
Shame they wouldn’t let your bike in. I’ve fortunately never had that problem. Good video!
Gnarly trip dude
Great riding 😊
awesome, you put up great content, keep it up, love it ;-)

I have a perm called North Shore South Shore that's from Makinaw City to The South Bend regional airport
Ride with GPS
i live in west central indiana.... where exactly r u at in indiana or you from chicago?
They wouldn’t let you bring it in the hotel because e-bike batteries can be fire hazards. You probably Know that by now tho.
Honestly it was just because it was a bike. They had no idea it was an “e-bike”.
It's a killer in Europe to be limited it 250W / 15 MPH.
It kind of makes sense, but it kind of doesn't
