Ending Live Sheep Export by Sea: Allegra Spender urges the government to move quicker 2024

Under the Export Control Amendment (Ending Live Sheep Exports by Sea) Bill 2024, the export of live sheep will be phased out by 1 May 2028. Whilst this bill represents progress, Allegra suggests that 2028 is too far away and the government's job is not yet done. While the government works towards the deadline in 2028, it is essential that they do everything possible to minimise animal suffering in the meantime, and to work with the farmers affected to support them in their transition.
