Great repair! It really is a pity that the bearings cannot be replaced. Sometimes, the tub can be sawed in half, then joined back with silicon and bolts. My family and I did this in 2019 an Indesit WIXXL 146 that I acquired with badly damaged bearings. To be honest it did give some trouble with leakages until we got it right.
Really useful video. Just replaced the drum on my Hotpoint will test tomorrow. A couple of points. Take notice of where to connect the supporting springs. I did this wrong and the drum hung too far forward. I will change these tomorrow before I test, . If you have a problem with the two spring wires for the door seal I used plastic bicycle tyre levers to get the last bits on, they are very tight. Gives you leverage but doesn't damage the seal, hopefully. If you are using the slide in method, as is suggested, leave the two dampers off until you have the drum in place.
Thanks for the video. It's very good: the image, the sound, the execution, the explanations are objective and very useful. Whenever possible, I prefer to breathe new life into things rather than buying new ones. Replaced the drum on my Indesit and I hope it will last a few more years. Best regards from Portugal.
Great video! Holes for concrete on new drum are not pre-threaded. Do you cut thread yourself ... with a heated screw for instance? I am afraid plastic can crack otherwise. Thanks in advance for your answer!
You’re very thorough and easy to understand. Is it possible to remove the inner basket from the outer drum, to give it a thorough cleaning? I have acquired a used Splendide combo that needs scrubbing but would be excellent afterward. Thank you.
Thanks for a great repair video. I'm interested to know how long that drum lasted before it needed replacing? BTW, prices of components are way cheaper in the UK than in Australia. Last time I enquired it was going to be $550 to change the drum on my Gorenje washing machine which is of course ridiculous because when you also factor in the labour charge, the price of repair is well over the $600 I paid for the washing machine.
Great video...i just bought one used cheap , because of bad bearings BUT , theres no bolts for it ? how the f...k do i tear it apart then ? is there just some washing machines that dosent allow you to replace the bearings for the drum ?
If it is a sealed drum, there is really no proper way of doing a bearing replacement there are some hack videos out there, showing you how to cut the drum in half not too sure how long it would take Nora, am i sure that the repair will last for the test of time. glad we could help you @lassenielsen4340 this is for you th-cam.com/users/shortse432SAb2g08 please remember to subscribe as that's what keeps this channel going. I have a hoover optima 6kg washing machine oph614 and it's getting noisy on spin, it matches all the kitchen appliances can it be replaced like this drum thanks 🤔
yes it can be replaced on some of the hoover machines the Drum will need to come out through the top of the machine and you will need your full model number to identify the part I would love you to leave your opinion on our poll about manufactures building in obsolescence to appliances. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxygHomnUySd_bYjaJBdEHPO6T4dYo9Ahm and this is for you th-cam.com/users/shortse432SAb2g08 please remember to subscribe as that's is what keeps this channel going. @@How-to-repair thank you yeah it matches everything and it does a good job, its just a shame its getting noisy il order a new drum for it thanks for the advice 👍
Astonished how easy the door rubber and spring fitted. Over a week later only the rubber fitted…. The spring is impossible. The tension on both the rubber and spring is horrendous! Despite clamping the rubber in place, Time and again the spring pulls the rubber off. That clamp is very powerful but the energy in the spring overcomes the clamped rubber. So, what’s the secret?
So nice of you, all I'm trying to do is teach in the correct way that everyone understands. It would be really helpful for me to get my video shared and help us fight appliance waste! Please remember to subscribe to our channel, as that really helps us 😇

that looks like a cheap-ish machine. If you're going throgh the hassle of changing an entire drum assembly youre better off just buy a new one entirely. I've seen the porices for my obselete machine. It was probably a £300 washing machine when it was new - about 6/7 years ago. Now the drumb assembly costs £250. It's just not worth it. Buy a new machine that would be more energy efficient and the insides will be clean, no gunk in the tubes. brand new motor, may even be more efficient to run as well.

use lock tight on the bolts for the concrete block that is also way the steel bras at the top is fitted the block fly's off
with this type of screw design going into plastic there is no need for Loctite

again i would use locktight on the nuts for the bottom supports

Thank you
it was great glue but like all things in life it has gone watery now so watch for it run
the cable ties pull out you do not need to cut them just tip it forward with a towel on facer you can not move the auto like that in a house .
