I would have agreed with you except for one thing. He introduced others that were there by name, but he never looked at Melania, nor did he introduce her instead he said "....she really wanted to be here.." . That is what one says when someone is NOT there.
I have pretty much no respect for Donny Dump at this point, but yes... I don't think it's impossible that someone would say "she really wanted to be here" with "and thus she came along" unspoken, but implied. You misunderstand. There are two ways of taking what he said. I will play devils advocate and say that he was speaking on her behalf, even though she was there. She has other responsibilities but really wanted to join him in Florida, so she cancelled her other obligations.

I actually was present for that speach in Fort Myers because I am a member the the Florida National Guard. It was more than clear what he was saying is that she really wanted to come here to Florida, which is why she came. Also you are missing a bigger point which is that the Trump administration has done everything in his power to ensure we were provided with the supplies to distribute to the victims of Irma in out great state.

This clip is several years old, but I came to it for video evidence of Trump's demented state after hearing many of my Trump-supporting friends (yes, I have them) claim Biden is demented (and I don't think Joe is demented despite all his gaffes). So I wanted to find something that someone can claim is evidence of Trump's sundowning, which all of his fans ignore. But this is not such an example. I don't hear his comment as evidence that he was unaware that Melania was there, he is just saying that "Melania REALLY wanted to be with us". And she was, he is explaining why she was there. He is trying to explain why she is there (because in his head there is no reason for her to be there, I guess).

Our mother died in June, of progressive dementia, just prior to her 95h birthday, at home in bed, surrounded by loved ones. Bless her heart. But I gotta say, often when I listen to Trump speaking, I am reminded of my mother.
