The "Walkarounds" are very basic, but they get tremendous views so thats why I do them. Up next weekend is "Our Covid Test Day, Hacienda Shopping and Room Review" - all in one video! Jeff (Papaw)
I’ve been to all sections of the resort complex many times. I’m not a member of their timeshare club thing either. I just think all 4 resorts are the best value available. Watch my video on the restaurants! Food is fabulous. Jeff (Papaw)
Hi Janine. We were there middle of April 2021. May is the very beginning of sargassum season. There could be none, a lot or anything. Since Sargassum Armageddon began around 2012 we’ve been 9 times. Two of those was in the month of June and one of those there was none and the other we couldn’t use the beach at all. The next year in July the same, it was literally a wall. But both times we still had a great trip, just no beach enjoyment. No matter how bad it gets there will be staff raking and shoveling as fast as they can. Nobody knows when, where or how much there’ll be. It mostly has to do with wind direction. Go and have a great trip no matter what. Jeff (Papaw)
@@papawgotagopro Jeff bless you thank you your so right, it’s so unpredictable isn’t it. I’m over worrying something only Mother Nature can predict, I’m sure if the beach is bad then there are trips to nice beaches. I’m a beach girl but I just want to go to Mexico so badly for my daughters 21st, thank you Jeff for your kind wise words
Yes. All adults (18+) staying at both Luxury Akumal and Luxury Sian Kaan have full access to everything everywhere. Including the Adult Area at Akumal. Jeff (Papaw)
Thanks for the wonderful walkthrough videos. My wife and I are looking at going there for New Year's later this year. I see as you walk through the resort and on the beach that this resort doesn't appear to be very busy at all, almost desolate... why so? It looks gorgeous, especially the large pool and the restaurants.
We were there in April 2021 when international travel for so many was disallowed. The resorts were at about 20% occupancy. People there now report about 50% occupancy and more normalcy. Jeff (Papaw)
Watch all of your reviews. Can you please help, booked this hotel pre~covid and now we are concerned reviews are really dropping, we are due to go in September. Do you know why, any help greatly appreciated * Jane
Hello Jane. I really believe people’s expectations are off kilter lately. Also, people that have convinced themselves they have something to complain about are very likely to leave bad reviews. People that have good experiences are less likely to take the time to share that. COVID safety measures can only have negative impacts on resort enjoyment. Finally, I’ve given up on TripAdvisor reviews. It’s no longer a valid place to get meaningful feedback. Resort chains that pay them for advertising and the booking service seem to get a lot of great reviews. Bahia Principe doesn’t play that game. Also, pay very close attention to what negative reviewers are saying. Is it really a tangible experience, or did something petty go wrong and they decided nothing else was going to be good. Jeff (Papaw)
@@papawgotagopro Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me , the main thing was mould on pillows and standards have dropped. I noticed in your walk about you said the luxury one was due a reverb . You also mentioned you may do an updated review in December. Many thanks 😊
The daughters (Princesses) decided they wanted to stay home this past December. Instead me and Mrs. Papaw decided to come to Ajijic, Jalisco. That’s where we are right now. Some rooms at Luxury Akumal could use a freshening, it’s true. But that’s also true of any resort that isn’t new or nearly new. Again, some TripAdvisor review writers will decide they’re going to have a negative experience and nothing will stop them. I wholly reject anyone’s assertion that standards, unrelated to COVID measures, have dropped. Things can go wrong, I’m not saying they can’t. A few years ago I stayed at a great resort in Puerto Vallarta. I wrote a deserved complimentary review. The review just before mine was a scathing hateful one - all because the ice machine at the beach snack bar was empty. And I’m not just an eternal optimist on resorts either. Look up my review on Allegro Cozumel. It was pretty bad. But if perfection is what someone is after they should book a stay at Grand Velas, which will come at a perfection price.
Love Love Love your videos, even when it's just a walk-around!

There was none when we were there but it has now returned. It is driven by the wind. The new normal.
