    We called here a few years ago while staying at bahia principe Akumal. It was recommended by the hotel.
    It was paradise, really enjoyable and we will definetly go back.
    Go as early as you can, by 10am it was very busy.

    Wow that looks great! Been looking into this resort and stuff to do around there and you absolutely knocked it out of the park with so many different options! Is Chichen itza a close enough drive to visit as well? That’s really on the top of my list if we decide this resort!

    • @ToucanTravellers
      @ToucanTravellers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! We totally recommend this resort in Akumal, as its really well located and not too far from the main attractions. Chichen Itza is around a 2 hour drive from Akumal each way. If this is an issue for you then perhaps check out some resorts in Playa del Carmen 😊

    Great video - thank you and you have touched many great tips - I have been going there for over 15 years.
    - did you know the public can get free access to Akumal by using the Lol-Ha restaurant or by buying a beach chair restaurant
    - I can see turtles by going out at 7-9 am by the beach but you are right, tours via the 2 Dive shops are better but at a cost

    What kind of transportation did you use to get to the caves and the cenotes?

    • @ToucanTravellers
      @ToucanTravellers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used both taxis and the colectivo. We'd recommend using the latter where possible, as it's definitely more cost effective and they are so frequent :)

    • @teresasharley5533
      @teresasharley5533 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, what is a colectivo? Bus?

    • @ToucanTravellers
      @ToucanTravellers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Teresa, yes a colectivo is a bus that's mainly used by locals to get around. It's the cheapest method of transport 😊

    Great video.. Question.. do you know the estimated cost of tours to see the sea turtles on the beach.. I am traveling with my husband and two teenagers

    • @ToucanTravellers
      @ToucanTravellers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there. Thank you for watching 😊
      Costs for the tours vary depending on the company you go with. It is guaranteed to see the sea turtles if you go with a reputable company, however, you can also go out snorkelling yourselves. It's not 100% guaranteed you'll see them, but you'll for sure see some wonderful sea life. Hope this helps. Susie

  • @jimbobsquarepants1765
    @jimbobsquarepants1765 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good video. All I would say is, I’ve been to Akumel and I would in no way recommend a guided tour to see turtles. They’re a rip off.
    No one owns the sea, go in yourself and go wherever you want whenever you want. There are turtles everywhere, very easy to see without a ‘guide’.

    • @ToucanTravellers
      @ToucanTravellers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right. It's easy to see the turtles yourself, as long as you go at the right times and the areas that they feed. We sadly weren't able to see any when we went (we didn't go on a tour) in November. Hopefully next time!

    • @gladlock
      @gladlock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The guides are to provide employment and a level of oversight because people are so goddamn awful. I’ve seen people touch and chase the turtles for a selfie. They trample the sea grass that the turtles feed on and use toxic sunscreen after repeatedly being told not to. Not everybody should be allowed in just because they can, humans destroy everything. Have some respect for the rules set to preserve this gem.

    What would you say is the best means of transportation to Akumal Wellness resort from Cancun international airport?

    • @ToucanTravellers
      @ToucanTravellers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We found a private airport transfer to be the easiest and cost effective way to get to the hotel from the airport. We highly recommend Canada Transfers. Check them out. :)

    • @ToucanTravellers

      Hello! We got a taxi from the hotel and took around 20 minutes to get there. When you've finished at the park, you can ask the reception team and they'll call a taxi for you! Or you can get a colectivo which is the cheaper option
