The idea that ESAM is not taking this seriously just because he's smiling and laughing is nonsense. I don't know the guy, but I'd be willing to bet that's just how he deals with pressure. And it's not true that you necessarily perform better while being super focused; sometimes being relaxed is better. Particularly if you are used to practicing while relaxed.

The commentators mentioned his godlike smash DI. It reduced the knock back just enough, and the di on the dash attack was perfectly towards the corner.
SDI doesn't reduced knockback. He used it to shift ZSS's character model farther right, so even though he was launched the same distance, he was closer to the center of the stage, so he didn't reach the blastzone

This is the only comment about ESAM that is good, people are attacking coney saying that he’s not a good commentator which I disagree with, but also whenever he said anything about how esam didn’t look into the set, he said stuff “you never know the mindset, you don’t know what they’re thinking or how they’re feeling, it’s just a visual thing” he knew what he was saying and was just saying that he looked like he’s not into it when he tries to relieve himself by smiling or laughing, which while wrong, is understandable. I agree completely with this though that you can’t expect him to look stressed, especially when it’s ESAM.

Coney's commentary was super biased against ESAM. ESAM talks and jokes during matches, always has, that's just who he is. But I'm sure ESAM would tell you that he's taking it very seriously. Just look at how much emotion he unleashed when he popped off against Nairo!

That was crazy to see. Basically, Esam create 3-4+ opportunities to kill ZSS and for whatever reason, she would not get KO'd. All I could do was smh, like really? Pikachu's ceiling for KO is crazy as well. Overall, it was a good match.

Nah man, I think it was less the nerfs and more quarantine that set marss back. He didn’t practice top level play at all and the meta changed a ton.

I never followed Smash 4. When I saw ZSS in this game my immediate reaction was 'top tier'. People whined and I tried to understand why. It sounded silly, like putting GnW in low tier. Results don't lie. So I feel vindicated.
Yeah ZSS is incredibly strong and particularly against Pikachu. Pikachu loses this matchup hard.
