    This complete series is by far one of the most well explained home improvement series I have ever seen. Excellent job.

    Excellent production quality. You were able to complete all of this in one day WHILE FILMING IT! I noticed you and your guys never changed your flannel shirts lol
    But seriously, I learned a lot from watching this series and I plan to re-watch a few times to really absorb everything.

    Thanks for these informative videos. I have watched the 6 part series since I am having a rental property sided in the near future and now understand better how the siding is installed.

    On that 90.5" cut, don't we need a little play on each side to support expansion and contraction of the material?

      Yes, on every piece you install.

    I can tell u once u get to using full pieces end to end in a gable it's always much easier to measure ur next piece off of the lip of the piece u jus cut while still on the ground. Measuring a 12' piece off of one ladder in the middle isn't always the easiest thing to do. As long as you've properly found ur angle u can actually cut every piece going to the top before ever stepping back on the ladder.
    Excellent instruction tho. That's not always easy to find on TH-cam

    How do you know it’s an exact 45 degree angle just by knowing the pitch?

    • @dtm8073
      @dtm8073 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pitch is 12/12, 12" rise 12" run therefore 45 degree angle.

    Do you use a utility strip at the top of the window?

    • @PrimeSuperboy
      @PrimeSuperboy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't imagine a utility strip would work at the top of the window since the vinyl orientation won't let you snap into it if the strip is upside down.

    Terrible video! He tells you how to cut the angles...IF YOU KNOW THE PITCH. What if you don't know what the pitch is or what if you don't have a 12/2 pitch that equals a 45 degree angle? I happen to know these things but if I didn't know what the pitch was or if my pitch provided a different angle than a straight 45?????????

      I'm thinking the same thing. Wasted my time watching this because I thought he would cover at the end. Thumbs down for that!

    • @HeidelCraft
      @HeidelCraft 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevewetzel7457 May be late but you need to measure the pitch or your roof and then use a speed square with the common pitch and Mark that angle.

    • @impactconstruction3151
      @impactconstruction3151 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To cut the angles you can snap in a scrap piece of siding (about 3-4 ft long) in the first (gable) row and slide it to one side until it touches the Jtrim. Then take another scrap piece and place it upside down against the soffit, following the angle of the roof and hold it over the horizontal scrap piece. Trace the angle onto the horizontal piece and cut. Use this piece as a template to mark all your gable angle cuts. Sometimes you need to adjust the angle slightly by eye on longer rakes that are sagging. Making a template takes only a couple minutes, but saves loads of time. If you cut with a grinder, simply put your template in place and cut a along the edge (no marking required).

      If you don't know the pitch of your roof, measure it, no need to give this guy a hard time. It's not rocket science!!!!! Once you know your pitch of your roof use your speed square to make your lines and voilà you have a perfect cut.There's other ways of making that cut without a speed square if you don't have one or can't afford one so just Google it.
