Labours Secret 22Bn Tory Black Hole Truth Explained

- Lots of back and forth debating on the, now legendary, 22Bn Tory black hole inheritance to the Labour Government have taken place.
The answer seems to be that the last Government should have used a budget figure in the books for public sector pay deals and didn't enter any. The Labour Government have used their own number which is, potentially, far higher than any number the Tories would have used, around 9Bn.
Whichever way you look at this and from whichever party that you favour, it's not as clear as it should be when, as a direct consequence if takes the winter fuel allowance away, from some pensioners at least.

@@kf8575 Are you on summat? Labour didn’t leave a black hole at all. Yes there was national debt of 890bn but how much was spent to bail out banks. But all our NHS, police, judicial system was all funded unlike the Tory’s who underfunded everything to the point of collapse, underpaid junior doctors to the total of 35% and wouldn’t even talk to either the doctors or train drivers ensuring strikes went ahead costing billions. Now with all this underinvestment the country is in 2.7T of debt so apart from the obvious Covid ppe corruption where has the money gone.
Start looking into offshore accounts……….
Winter fuel allowances targeted to MP's who have 2nd homes & massive salaries, Reeves is worth over £10 million pounds & Starmer has a tax free pension to look forward to!

Blaming the last government isn’t an excuse, what about the 20billion to foreign climate aid labour have promised or the 16million a day to put illegal immigrant men in heated hotels? Is that also the last government’s fault as well?

Just seen that junior doctors have accepted 22% over 2 years. Thats why pensioners are being punished.

If there's a black hole ( there is not) then why are labour claiming thousands a week for heating on more than one property, take their other homes of them and sell them putting the money back into the system
If that latest accusation is true then it’s a shocking hypocrisy, especially from independently wealthy MPs.
If the 880000 pensioners not claiming the Pension Credit that they are supposedly entitled to but are not claiming, then any saving in not paying the Winter Allowance will be swallowed up by this Pension Credit if those entitled would get, so in reality common sense shows to leave it as it is. The man(?) is a total buffoon.

His explanation for the WFP needing to be targeted. He's already dodged the bullet that he shot at the Tories over the plan to do exactly this. The problem is the people just above the pension credit limit that won't receive a penny and in real terms will be worse off than someone who just qualifies for pension credit being just below the £11,300 per annum. Starmer has no clue whatsoever about how even those who qualify for pension credit but don't claim it because they're too proud to visit a benefits office and don't have the internet because they can't afford it.
He's way out of order on this because he has absolutely no idea about how proud people are of themselves obviously. Let's be honest, there is nothing to be proud of in relation to our country

If they are going to do something about energy bills in the budget why on earth not leave rhetoric announcement about winter fuel allowance till then perhaps there is worse to come if so get ready for demonstrations.
Difficult to say but any government would know what the content of the budget will be by now.

A shifty answer, trying to avoid blame for the award they just made. So on the one hand you made an award to train drivers and Doctors but on the other hand took some help with winter fuel payments away.
How about, look you train drivers are all on good money a lot more than most and well above the average salary so how about we take about 3% of your salary off you?
So 11.5 million pensioners can't strike and lose our whilst a few people who sit on their backsides in a train cab get a whopping 15%. Then agreed after that they will still need to strike for yet more pay further on down the line. Talk about a mis-carriage of justice. How Starmer Engine-ered that. Hopefully, his government will soon run out of steam.
