    Very informative.
Prescribed my very first inhaler after 50+ years due to having a respiratory infection. Had no clue how to use it until I watched this video.

This is a really good video, I didn't know that was how an inhaler is supposed to be used until I came upon seeing this video. Some persons, of not many persons, like myself have been using the inhaler the wrong way. So, this is an excellent and interesting way to go. Thanks very much.

Thank you!!! Literally a lifesaver! I dont understand why we have to see videos on this but this has been the way I learned. My Dr. Just said take two puffs. NOTHING ELSE! NO SHAKE, NO RINSE, NO HOLD YOUR BREATH! I'm absolutely new at this. Thank you for teaching me the correct way of doing things. Even though Ive had to watch all your videos. They are so helpful.

Unfortunately, this is not the correct way to use an pMDI inhaler. Never take an aerosol directly into your mouth. A valved holding chamber (VHC) should be always used when pMDI is used. Without the VHC most of the drug will be deposited on the tongue and throat and will never reach the lungs. Please do not use this technique. As it is stated in the guidelines “for pMDIs, use of a spacer improves delivery and (with ICS) reduces the potential for side-effects” (REF: ginasthma.org/gina-reports/).

After several usages, the inhaler will clog and not work. You have to take it apart, pull out the cylinder and run warm water into the holder in both ends and let it dry. Then prime it again before the next use.

i would suggest to check the inhaler technique next time you see your doctor and nurse, sometimes it can be hard even with a spacer and maybe you're not getting the full dose (and that's why you need more puffs)

    • @neilmoore5387

I’m 49 and I still use a spacer. Once the particles are in the spacer there is no rush to get it into your lungs. The particles aren’t going anywhere as they cling to the spacer. I may then have 4/5 slow intense puffs and works a treat. Do this with both my salbutamol and Trimbow inhalers.

For the first timers don't worry if you feel anxious after. Just breathe through it it will subside in maybe 10-15 mins after. It's what always happens to me after I take my two doses. Some like the "high" feeling but I don't. It WILL go away shortly so just remind yourself it's the medication and your body is just being anxious over the drug you are fine it IS to be expected.

Sure keep one on hand just for security safe. But proper use is it’s use with a volume spacer. To make sure that you get the desired amount of Sububutimol . It’s also another way to increase your ability to get the air into your airways with sufficient amount’s to expand your lungs sufficiently to help open up your airways to allow for the medication to work better. Even taking and holding your breath before and after can help expand your lungs capacity.?!!!

I just got my first ventolin after a bad RSV infection. I've been using it for a few weeks and I still cough and have a very tight chest even Ive been doing it like your instruction. Maybe I should ask for a new medication.

I hope you went back to the doc by now before you get pneumonia.
