I love how, as soon as Steve starts singing, you can hear the crowd's response as they realize how Phil Collins-y his voice is. I love the Clefs cover of this song...
Really enjoyed this. Probably my favorite McQuaid solo. One of Phil Collins' best vocal assets is his incredible clarity. Steve really is able to replicate that, with a bit of his own twist.
That is Steve McQuaid, a 4th year Clef and President of the group this year - this vid was from his very first concert with the Clefs 2 months after joining them as a brand new Freshman at UNC. Check him out in some of his other solos like Heat Of The Moment, Dreaming With A Broken Heart, Boston, King Of Wishful Thinking, etc.
This is our all-time favorite song from Steve. As a coincedence, this was his very first solo with the Clefs, in fact his very first concert with them - as a first semester freshman brand new (2 months) to the group
Some more from Steve McQuaid on this channel are Heat Of The Moment, Aerials, Boondocks - and then several supporting/backup vocals on songs like My Love, Here And Now, Ride Wit Me, Put On/Got Money, etc.
@aztheg2nd For someone currently in a group, it represents their expected year of graduation - '10=2010, etc... For example, Freshmen in the Clefs this year would probably put '13 after their name because they expect to graduate in 2013...
i was actually dissappointed this one didn't have anoop as the soloist,, but this guy's voice is well suited for this song=) dang, i'm going through all the videos of the clef hangers!
@aztheg2nd The number represents the year they graduated/left the group after 4 years... The Clefs will tell you they can teach someone to sing their a capella style, and that you don't HAVE to be a super singer, but my opinion is that you need to be above average for this caliber of group. JMHO - don't know if they would agree with that.
Sort of. By the time you are a Senior; yes, you're likely to have a full vest - in fact, you've probably lost some/given some away/declined to put more on... But as a new Clef, it's entirely dependant on who gives you what and when... This is Steve's very first concert as a Clef, when he was a new Freshman at UNC, so he was just starting his collection,,, By the time his next concert rolled around, he had a much bigger collection than shows here... Family/friends/fans help fill it out.

skrrt!!
sounds a lot like Phil Collins!! (is that who did the original? cant remember)
@dcnole if you think this is good, check out his version of everything you want
I love how this group tries to sync the lead voices to that of the original song.
