I love that you understand the pain and trauma Jenny was going through. She was telling Forrest to run all the time and not to be brave when he was going to Vietnam as well as telling him “you don’t know anything about love.”.. when in reality.. she was the one who’s constantly running away and don’t know what real love is. She had such a tragic childhood and obviously her and her sisters were most likely SA..emotionally..physically abused by their father..maybe she witnessed the abused that her mother had too. So all she knew about love, relationships, and marriage was ABUSE. She would go for not so good guys who hurt her physically and emotionally. She couldn’t get out of that toxic circle and you’re right.. even though she deeply cares and loves Forrest..he’s too pure and too good for her. As if she will bring nothing but bad things that will taint or hurt Forrest more. So she pushes him away because she doesn’t think she deserves or is worthy of such love and affection. Then she fell into drugs and went on an even more darker path. Also, remember Forrest ran for 3 years…they don’t have cellphones at that time. How can she call him when she found out she’s pregnant? He started running not too long after Jenny left him. So how can she possibly explain herself? Thankfully, Forrest went back home and received her letter..but ppl tend to forget about that time line. Oh and to clarify the book said that Jenny had contracted hepatitis c from her drug addiction phase. Obviously, she cleaned up her life and I’m sure when she found out she was pregnant with Forrest’s baby..that was her SAVING GRACE tbh. For the rest of her life she managed to just LOVE AND BE LOVED.. to finally accept and embrace true and real love through her baby and Forrest. I love the symbolism of the birds flying when Forrest was talking to Jenny’s grave. Jenny’s answered prayer came true..her journey was rough in the beginning, but she finally found peace and true happiness in the end.

It feels good to see you react to a classic movie that hit home by how beautiful and story driven this movie was. As I remember during my History class, we had to watch this movie during our studies and take some key notes on what we just watched. As it was a good movie to watch and find it interesting. Till some time years later, I still watch the movie during my age in the 20s and remember the good times during school watching it. 😌 With that said, I still cry at the movie when watching as I had a special Coach/Teacher that sadly passed away from a snow accident and when I heard about it. I just put on Forrest Gump to remember his legacy by the movie being his favorite. So thank Cody for watching the movie and I can’t wait to see what movie is next for watching.

Forrest Gump is one of the best films in history! The cast are good; the story sweet and sad and the soundtrack is cute. It is one of my 3 favourite movies which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

@ItsTotallyCody! A lot of people give Jenny a bad rep, which I understand because of what she put him through. But I’ve always thought that she did love Forrest but she didn’t think she deserved him because of how pure he was, so she’d try to toss him away and not drag him down. And what she went through as a kid made it hard for her to feel loved like she didn’t feel before. When Lt. Dan are in the bar during New Years he says "the day you're a shrimp boat captain is the day I'm an astronaut." Gary Sinise and Tom Hanks would be astronauts in Apollo 13
Completely agree, 10/10, a masterpiece. I don't know how many times I've seen this movie, or seen people react to it, since it came out but I cry every single time. I'm glad you understand why Jenny struggles and behaves the way she does. Not every reactor I've watched has, I've seen her get plenty of hate. Yes she treats Forrest badly at times but not everyone understands how traumatized she is and what that can do to a person. And when she says "Stay way from me" and when she runs away from him I've always thought it was because she did care for him and didn't want to drag him into her mess, and perhaps she didn't feel like she deserved to be loved either. I just think she was unable to accept his love until she got better.
Thank you for being such a wonderful soul. It's always such a pleasure following your reactions, it always sets a smile on my heart. And I thought your shoutout to the military was really nice. Thanks again 👍
I love almost anything with Tom Hanks and this is my all time favourite movie. It's a hell of an emotional rollercoaster, especially with Jenny's childhood leading into the troubled soul she becomes.
In Canada 🇨🇦 we had a guy named Terry Fox run across Canada with one leg and one prospetic leg, and we have a bronze statue of him in Ottawa Ontario and a running track called Terry Fox.
In addition to telling Forrest's life story, the movie also tells Jenny's life story from Forrest's perspective. That was highlighted by Cody's empathy for Jenny and commentary throughout the movie reaction. Very well done.
Such an incredible movie I'm so happy you were able to watch this movie Cody and I'm glad I was able to watch it as one of your fans I cried just as much the first time I watched it especially when we heard about what happend to Jenny when she was little I also love how you talked a little bit about your experience in the military thank you for your service
As soon as this popped up in my notifications I said 'awww' I instantly knew we where in for an emotional hour and I loved every second of your reaction ❤️
wonderful reaction, and I knew it would be before I ever clicked on it. I knew you wouldn't be too hard on Jenny and her messed up life. I can't watch the end without crying no many how many times I see it.
Truly, this movie is such a classic and something everyone should experience at least once. This was the first movie I ever cried at when 12 and still makes Mr cry everytime I watch it.
I really appreciate your title. I haven’t had the chance to watch your reaction yet, but people tend to be mad at her and the way she treated Forrest without quite understanding her life trauma and how it effected her actions through your her life
Same ! I knew by that title that he was going to empathise even if it’s a little bit with Jenny which makes me click on this video because I have kind of been avoiding reactions to this film because of people acting like Jenny’s a villain which just makes me sad about how people don’t understand her character and what s*xual abuse could do to someone. And she wasn’t even a bad person as she was running away from Forrest because she didn’t want to hurt him
After this movie Gary Sinise became VERY involved in Veteran charities. He even started a band and as far as I know STILL does USO tours for active duty and fundraising shows. It's called "The Lt. Dan Band"
I was also in the Army, enlisted in 87. One of the small population of Vets that joined in peace time. The last couple years was during Desert Storm and the beginning of the oil occupation... I mean Gulf War. Even with that I kick myself for not staying until I could get a military pension. That 15 years after ETS went by FAST!
Lt Dan was so touched by this movie with veterans that he donated alot of money for the veterans and homes for veterans who came back and alot of veterans sent messages to him on his laptop 💻 and the last person was to pop up on screen was Tom Hanks and he was waving hi Lt Dan which made him smile with tears.
One of Tom Hanks’ greatest success. No question, just the symbolism, quotes, acting, and all those heartbreaking moments that made us crumble. Without a doubt, one of the greatest movies of all time.
Gosh, I cry every time... Tom Hanks's delivery of "Is he smart?" makes me so emotional, that I always need a minute. Loved the reaction, Cody! Keep it up (like always 😉)
I saw this in the theater with my mom. ❤ Cried so much! Such a great movie! Came out in 1994. Same year as Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction. Great year at the Oscars! Tom Hanks won back to back Oscars, the other for Philadelphia in 1993. ANOTHER tearjerker, but FANTASTIC movie!
I can see a lot of myself in Forrest Gump; needing some help in school, not always catching on to social cues or what people actually mean when they say certain things, wanting to protect my loved ones and fight anyone who treats them wrong, and overall just doing what I know is best and wanting the best for most people 💕🍫 I will say, as much as I don't want Paramount Pictures to make a remake or reboot or anything like that of this movie, I would like to see an in-depth story of how Lieutenant Dan met and married his Vietnamese wife. I just think it'd be really interesting how they fell in love despite their countries history with each other.
I'm sort of the same way. I'm on the Autism spectrum (high functioning), so I don't always catch social cues and know if people are actually joking around or being serious about something or someone.
I LOVE how forest sees Lt. Dan. No matter how Dan feelt, said, did and was treated by everyone else and how he saw himself to forest he was always the same person he always known him as. Lt. Dan!❤😂
I'm in the Air Force and your reactions and comments whenever something military has come up have been awesome boss. Puts a smile on my face, just keep doing what you're doing and give Ares my love, love that pooch.
Cody, your reaction is a treasure, and I thank you for sharing it. Your compassion and life experience is a beautiful contribution, especially regarding the characters of Dan and Jenny. Also, thank you for your service. I unfortunately wasn't eligible myself: very high ASVAB score, but the powers that be didn't like that I was on psychiatric medication. It was a big disappointment as both my parents were in service and I really wanted to be a military therapist. Somehow life works out anyway, and I'm grateful to be where I am. Something to be said for Gump's philosophy in that.
This is such amazing movie and one of Toms Hanks best in my opinion 😊😊😊I love the story so much and the characters of course especially Forrest,it is amazing to see journey he went through and all the hurdles he had to face especially losing his Mum and Bubba and trying get together with Jenny but I’m happy he finally got to together with her at the end an happy she changed her life around too but it is sad when she passes away😢😢😢but it’s great to see him as a Dad and a hero as well. Thanks you reaction Cody to this masterpiece and can’t wait to see what you do next 😊😊😊😉😉
As far as Gary Senise, the first thing I always think of is TV. It's CSI New York. But he was lieutenant Dan in this and he was also one of the main characters in of mice and Men. He might have been in some other things I've seen but I'm not sure I would have to check his wikipedia.
Hey Cody, I appreciate your service. I was in the USMC for 6 weeks and got kicked outta basic training at the halfway point for the trouble I got in (a stupid 17-year-old kid). Then I joined the US Air Force and served for 13 and a half years before the USAF offered people money to get out, which I did. No regrets. I love the military and anyone who tried to serve. With that being said, have you seen Jojo Rabbit, Only The Brave, After Hours or 12 Strong? I'd really like to see your reaction to any of those movies. They're all GREAT movies. I'm gonna start checking out your reactions cuz I enjoyed this reaction to FG. Keep it up.
One thing I've always been convinced of is that the stout gentleman who talks to Forrest about the "bullet that jumped up and bit him" was himself a veteran. Everything in his body language and his tone screamed to me that he himself had seen battle, had even lost his own best good friend in combat. There's more than just sympathy, like the little old lady. There's empathy--this man knows exactly how Forrest feels, because he's been through the exact same thing.
I loved every cut and pause at the right moments. By the way, you were the only person who talked about Jenny's virus and I tried to figure it out. I always thought it was HIV/AIDS beucause of the drugs and multiple partners. Another great reaction..... Greetings from Brazil, dude.
50:55, Yep, it was at this moment that we all knew..................this was a very touching moment, even for Cody! We never actually see him get this Emotional while watching a Movie at all until now, and I don't blame him at all. 1:02:41, This Movie likes to get emotional so much it even made Cody get all choked-up!
Now as Aunt May from The Amazing Spider-Man. I heard that she had a wonderful reunion with Andrew Garfield at the SAG Awards after 12 years since they worked together.
i love this movie, but i always find myself feeling nervous about watching reactions to it bc a lot of reactors don't give jenny or the abuse she went through much empathy, so i tend to avoid them. but i already knew that you were going to understand the nuance of her character, and it was really nice to see that you did. thanks cody also yes, you were correct about jenny having hiv/aids
There's some Reactors on YTube who have great stats and fans, but actually suck. I saw one guy laugh through the first half of this movie, even the tragedy, and when Jenny came down off the ledge he says "Why'd she change her mind?" What a Moron, I bailed right then
@@isoldejaneholland8370 fair. But from someone who actually read it? I have no idea how someone could be inspired to shoot someone just from reading it. South Parks opinion on it was actually not too far off: it's just about some whiny teenager that drops a few swear words now and again.
Subscribed, best reaction to this movie and I saw them all. You got the events; your empathy, tears and laughters so reliable and you understood Jenny from the beginning. Your reaction: 10/10. Now I have to check what other reactions you've done... Add: Jenny's Virus originally Hep C but for the movie it was intended to be AIDS.
Thank you Cody. I've been debating joining the coastal guard or the army for quite some time now, and I've been physically training myself too, but I've been too scared of what is to come. I always like hearing other people's experience.
Gary Sinise and Tom Hanks ended up doing three solid films together in the 90s : Forrest Gump, Apollo 13 - true story, and highly recommended - and The Green Mile.
I just watched this movie and let me tell you it is so moving and so sad especially the ending of it, oh my god nearly made me cry which it did, such a heartfelt movie.
Mark David Chapman did cite Catcher in the Rye as an influence and he had a copy on him where he wrote "this is my statement" and signed it as Holden Caulfield, the book's main character, when he shot John Lennon in 1980. But Catcher in the Rye was published in 1951 and Chapman was just batshit insane.
Fun fact of nobody's told you yet lieutenant Dan in order to play that role since Gary sinise didn't know much about the military at that point. He had gone to speak to some guys in the military about their experiences and he gained such a respect for the military that basically he's become an advocate for military and military charities from that point on I always figured why he had such a connection to the military was maybe he had a relative who was in the military who he really looked up to. But no, it was because of his experiences learning about it for lieutenant Dan
Great video Cody! One of my favorite movies of all time. I'm joining the Navy as an officer here real soon. Heading off to OCS. I'll think of your advice while I'm there. Thank you.
Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise got together again in Apollo 13. At the end of Apollo 13 Tom says that Ken Mattingly (Gary Sinise) piloted the Space Shuttle (magic legs). After Forest Gump he started the Gary Sinise foundation. The Gary Sinise Foundation is a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military. It operates as a non profit 501 organization.

I think what makes this movie great is all the facets of life depicted that people can relate to....Forrest's mother dies. Millions of us can relate to that! And Lt. Dan & Jenny's messed-up lives; heartbreak, trauma + being in love and happy, etc. etc. Everyone relates

Tom Hanks definitely deserved that Oscar! One of his best movies!
Yes!! He may have not been able to finish the race but we Canadians can finish it and help keep his dream of a cancer free world alive!
In addition to telling Forrest's life story, the movie also tells Jenny's life story from Forrest's perspective. That was highlighted by Cody's empathy for Jenny and commentary throughout the movie reaction. Very well done.
Tom Hanks is a LEGEND!
Indeed.
Such an incredible movie I'm so happy you were able to watch this movie Cody and I'm glad I was able to watch it as one of your fans I cried just as much the first time I watched it especially when we heard about what happend to Jenny when she was little
I also love how you talked a little bit about your experience in the military thank you for your service
Love this movie seen it years ago and still watch it
If the ending of this and The Green Mile, also starring Tom Hanks and based on a novel, doesn't break you, there's something severely wrong with you.
The mouse! That cute little geriatric 60 year old mouse.
This was after Tom Hanks worked on Toy Story
Thank you for getting Jenny! She's broken and doesn't want to hurt him!
And she wasn’t even a bad person as she was running away from Forrest because she didn’t want to hurt him
I loved how this movie portrayed the five stages of grief and loss through Lieutenant Dan.
If you want to watch another GREAT Tom Hanks oldie, I recommend 'The Terminal' if you haven't seen it yet! It's based on a real-life event.
Oh, dang I forgot about 'The Green Mile', that's an emotional one though! LMAO sorry, this is my last comment 😂😅
I can see a lot of myself in Forrest Gump; needing some help in school, not always catching on to social cues or what people actually mean when they say certain things, wanting to protect my loved ones and fight anyone who treats them wrong, and overall just doing what I know is best and wanting the best for most people 💕🍫
I will say, as much as I don't want Paramount Pictures to make a remake or reboot or anything like that of this movie, I would like to see an in-depth story of how Lieutenant Dan met and married his Vietnamese wife. I just think it'd be really interesting how they fell in love despite their countries history with each other.
I love that bit, even if they don't hit us over the head with it.
Lt. Dan!❤😂
I love this movie so much. Incredibly rewatchable and so emotional and funny.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Your reaction is so respectful & beautiful. All the feels.
I'm in the Air Force and your reactions and comments whenever something military has come up have been awesome boss. Puts a smile on my face, just keep doing what you're doing and give Ares my love, love that pooch.
I was in the army for 7 years lol I know the struggle
Cody, your reaction is a treasure, and I thank you for sharing it. Your compassion and life experience is a beautiful contribution, especially regarding the characters of Dan and Jenny.
Also, thank you for your service. I unfortunately wasn't eligible myself: very high ASVAB score, but the powers that be didn't like that I was on psychiatric medication. It was a big disappointment as both my parents were in service and I really wanted to be a military therapist. Somehow life works out anyway, and I'm grateful to be where I am. Something to be said for Gump's philosophy in that.
Let's go ! This movie is such a classic and emotional rollercoaster, I'm hlad you got to see it !
Present day Forrest was filmed downtown in my city. Henry street is about 5 or 6 blocks away from where they were sitting so it’s an actual fact.
Just come across you in last few days. And I am evening binging your reactions. Thank you for another beautiful one 😊
Thanks for the reaction❤
Amazing reaction to an amazing film. Wasn’t one of my faves growing up but as I’ve got older it’s grown on me. Great vid Cody!
Forrest Gump's mom Sally Feilds is amazing and a very good actress, I first saw her on the movie Mrs Doubtfire 😀 ❤
Now as Aunt May from
The Amazing Spider-Man.
I heard that she had a wonderful reunion with Andrew Garfield at the SAG Awards after 12 years since they worked together.
@@miguelalonso9460 oh the amazing Spiderman yes I was thinking the other one with Kristen Dunst until I looked again and seen Amazing Spider-Man
Excellent reaction and you’re very insightful man
i love this movie, but i always find myself feeling nervous about watching reactions to it bc a lot of reactors don't give jenny or the abuse she went through much empathy, so i tend to avoid them. but i already knew that you were going to understand the nuance of her character, and it was really nice to see that you did. thanks cody
also yes, you were correct about jenny having hiv/aids
There's some Reactors on YTube who have great stats and fans, but actually suck. I saw one guy laugh through the first half of this movie, even the tragedy, and when Jenny came down off the ledge he says "Why'd she change her mind?" What a Moron, I bailed right then
@@barryscott8041 literally such a blaring red flag :////
One of the best reactions of forrest gump well done Cody!
The guy that shot John Lennon was seen reading Catcher in the Rye when Lennon gave him his autograph.
I've avoided that book my whole life because I can't help but associate it with that creep.
@@isoldejaneholland8370 fair. But from someone who actually read it?
I have no idea how someone could be inspired to shoot someone just from reading it.
South Parks opinion on it was actually not too far off: it's just about some whiny teenager that drops a few swear words now and again.
@@videohistory722
Thank you for replying.
@@isoldejaneholland8370 also the guy was a kook. It's not a stretch to say he had a few screws loose, seeing stuff that wasn't there.
Thank you for your service!
My husband was a marine for 5 yrs.
This is one of the few movies that can make me cry like 5 times in one sitting😂😂
This is a great story. I love listening the theme music by Alan Silvestri
There's the feather 🪶 he picked up from the beginning of the movie and put it in that curious George book and it just fell out.
Great, great reaction. My favorite movie of all time. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Cody! One of my favorite movies of all time. I'm joining the Navy as an officer here real soon. Heading off to OCS. I'll think of your advice while I'm there. Thank you.
3:35 It's Aunt May from The Amazing Spider-Man films 😃.
@ItsTotallyCody This is one nice Film to watch, not to mention it can be emotional at times, too
As a wise Bobcat once said: “What could possibly go wrong?”(Also his name is Bubsy bobcat in case anyone was wondering )
Forrest Gump is a very great movie excellent reaction Cody.
I seen alot of his movies like Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan and many others
Me too but with Cast Away and Catch me If you Can.
Great reaction....thanks!
Believe me when you have crap done to you as child it doesn't go away no matter how much you talk about it to someone, your messed up in the head so bad sometimes you don't wanna live cause you feel horrible about yourself.
Thank you for a great reaction! I use this movie to gauge reactors because it touches on so many emotions! If you don’t cry at Forrest Gump, I can’t relate to you.
I cannot with this movie. You laugh and then cry and then laugh and then cry again.... It's too good. ❤
It's OK to show emotions Cody, real men show emotions 🫂. So sweet
This part still gets me every time I watch this movie 🎬 😢
Which part?
This is nice surprise :) , definitely will watch this with u ..(and if you haven't seen it already, I recommend also Interstellar and maybe Gravity with Sandra Bullock :) )
He didn't want everyone knowing about the war so he unplugged it
Loved your reaction to this timeless classic Cody, what Jenny had according to the writers was hepatitis C which she got from using dirty heroine needles
I think what makes this movie great is all the facets of life depicted that people can relate to....Forrest's mother dies. Millions of us can relate to that! And Lt. Dan & Jenny's messed-up lives; heartbreak, trauma + being in love and happy, etc. etc. Everyone relates
My husband is a 19k. Joined in 2020. He has been in for 3 years now.. He just signed up for 6 more years.
We have loved it so far! I love living in different states and learning new things. Its definitely hard but so worth it.
I'm glad you got Jenny's story right off the bat.
Tom hanks might be my favorite actor
