China developed UHV is technology specifically for power to move across the enormous large terrain where the solar, wind, hydroelectricity are to where they need the energy.
In normal high voltage lines, a lot of the power is lost as it’s moved across large terrain. The benefit of UHV lines is that they have dramatically reduced losses and transmission towers.
The difference is China has a very challenging terrain that construction technique used in China are especially useful for developing countries. This is why infrastructure building western world can't compete with China because of cost and experience. For peace time application, China or Asia in general are much better than those spend most of their money on weapon research.

Western countries have successfully transformed from an architectural based society into an advanced industrial starting with the First Industrial Revolution of Steam Engine in 1760 by James Watt.
Then, The Second Revolution using the electric power and telephones ( + fossil fuels ) during 1870 - 1914.
Next, The Third Revolution using transistors, electronics semiconductors, computers, after WW2, and the internet in the 1960's.
Now, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is building on the Third, the _Digital Revolution_ of AI, Big Data, 5G , IOT, Quantum Computing, Blockchain, and New Technology in renewable energy, electrification of cars,
      nuclear fusion, etc.
For the first time, a company from the East has a leading edge in 5G technology. This has drawn sceptical and worried in the West as
_how_ could a non-Western country managed to overtake them in this technology. West is too afraid of losing their competive edge in technology. hence, they accustomed this non-Western company of technology theft and imposed technology ban/sanction under the name of "security threats and security back-door" ( Toshiba semiconductor was a victim of such technology sanctions in the 1980's ).
West has dominated the world in all aspects of life, Science, Technology, Medicine, Aerospace, Telecommunication, IT, Internet, Finance, Commerce, Trade, etc since the first Industry Revolution since 1760's , this will not change in the near future but slowly and surely East will be able to catch up and offer the world another ALTERNATIVE.
Competition is a great way to propel mankind to the next level of advancement.
I hope China will be able to overcome the technology obstacles in nuclear fusion reactor and bring mankind out of the fossil fuels or "dirty energy" dependency.
