In defense to working designs increasing of difficulty. Eternal Blue originally had a feature where it cost XP to save the game. Part of the reasoning working design had in increasing difficulty was to offset the removal of that save feature.
@@Shinky yep lunar games were known to pioneer new mechanics and features some well received others not so much. When the game was originally released as Eternal Blue Complete for Saturn and PS1 the xp charge for saving was removed but the difficulty wasn't adjusted. Working Designs adjusted the difficulty to bring it back in line to the originals difficulty. Now silver star story was also made more difficult by Working Designs but just because they thought it was to easy. To my knowledge there was no other justification.

My homie Kommi recently did a lets play for Lunar Silver Star Story. Where he patched the translation over the JP version, because the localization made it impossible to get past the first dungeon in his case. We are both German though and just like with Suikoden, after he finished his lets play a Remaster was announced. In Lunars case it will finally be in German for the first time ever. And I had never heard of these games until just a few months ago due to literally not existing when it came out. But I am so excited to play these. Hopefully with an adjusted difficulty setting so the first batch of monsters doesn't kill you with 2x damage and in big waves were you get softlocked, because you just keep dying. I remember another game where they made the English version harder for no reason. I don't remember which game though. Wait, Trails in the Sky! A certain boss was buffed in the localization to make the fight even harder. This was then patched into the Japanese version later. Anyway, very excited to play Lunar for the first time. I also have Grandia HD on my Switch. Grandia 1 was amazing. I still need to play Grandia 2. Which is also an amazing game. So many good stuff from the olden days and I never got to play it. I hope we get some more amazing retro games on modern platforms. There is so much stuff I never got to play!

That would be impressive. I really wanna play the Sega CD version. I have the translated Saturn version but I don’t have the video card so it’s not the full experience
@@Shinky Also I really think they would consider giving us the option for SHARED inventory for both remasters. I played the PS1 version of the first Lunar, and that was my biggest gripe about that game... that each character can only hold up to 6 items, are limited to using only what's in their respective inventory, AND the same items don't stack (i.e. Herb x3, instead of Herb Herb Herb). Also the option to select from the 3 different soundtracks (Sega CD, PS1/Saturn, and PSP) is a must!
translation is gonna be a hit or miss for me. I loved the original localization. Didn't change the main story, but made all the NPCs worth talking to. If they take away NPCs being fun, I'm a just have to stick to the ps1 version

@Shinky yeah but they shouldn't call it a remaster... the psp version was OK, with new sprites and background but they shouldn't call it a remaster... feels just wrong. Praying on us with nostalgia...
@Shinky you could achieve that via an emulator... mine runs on adrenaline with wide-screen. Plus I use filters to further enhance the images. What baffles me is that they have not even invested on filters and pictures are as pixilated as you'd find on the old ps1... I'm OK... it will be available to a new generation.
The translation for Lunar is what made it so special to me, of course I am a native English speaker so that might be why. Though that adjusted difficulty was something else
Between this and the Suikoden Remasters First Quarter 2025 is really spoiling us.
I haven’t played Suikoden before so I’m excited about it
I would’ve liked an update for today’s generation of gaming.
Well they are adding QoL changes like a fast forward mode. So at least that’s something
@@Shinky I hope they reduce the number of encounters
Definitely looking forward to playing lunar one again. I owned it a long time ago, but I sold all of my PSP games and system.
If you’ve only played the PSP port, Silver Star Harmony. Silver Star Story is gonna blow you away!
@@Shinky yes I only played the first lunar game on PSP. But so I’m excited to get a physical version of this lunar one and two collection.
I’m excited to hear how you like them. Be sure to pop on back and let me know how you like them, I’m planning on reviewing both games once the remaster comes out
This and FF7 remake 3 Are my top most anticipated games going forward with maybe MGS 3 Delta/
I’m looking forward to Suikoden as well as I never got the chance to play it
It's cool that people who missed these can get them, but I already have them on Sega CD and PS1, so I'm not sure I want to buy them again. If it had Lunar Magic School in English as well, I'd definitely go for it.
Need it, can’t wait
Yes! It’s gonna be great!
I could be wrong, but didn't the reveal trailer use the Working Design lyrics for the song?
It did. So I’m hoping the rest of the game uses that translation, even if those pop culture references wouldn’t make any sense to a large amount of people
@@Shinky This game is primarily targeted towards people who remember it nostalgically, so the pop culture shouldn't be a problem imho.
This is definitely a day one purchase for me.
Same, I’m excited
I still have the sound track
I know how u feel I only played the psp version of sliver star but eternal blue complete I played on the ps1 me and my dad played on weekends I got the ps5 hoping this would happen im so excited dodge this I will be getting this game collection
I wanted a remake of Lunar 2. Maybe 2DHD or Similar style of Dragon Quest 11
That would be neat, but I’m just happy Lunar is back.
HD2D would have been amazing.
I can’t wait to play this again I still own the original physical copies on ps1
Same! Spring 2025 is gonna be wonderful
I’m gonna be that guy, i wish they included the magic school games too😭
I’ve never actually played those, I hear they’re Japan only?
They need to make more
I dunno after dragon song I’ll be happy if Lunar never got a new release
They need to include the ROMs for all versions of the game in all available languages... Sega CD, PS1/Saturn, PSP, GBA, and the remastered port.
@sdlock83 I’m pretty sure they did that with Silver Star Harmony. While that game wasn’t the best, it had some changes that I thought were great
@@Shinky You mean that consolidated the item inventory in the game or just gave the soundtrack option?
@sdlock83 consolidated the inventory
I also want a physical release I have no use for a digital only release. I have my PS1 version to fall back on if they decide to only do a digital.
I’ll probably double dip honestly. I want physical but if they release it early digitally I’ll buy it
@@Shinky , hopefully not limited like Grandia I can't find a copy for under a hundred dollars.
Yeah it’s very pricey, I don’t like limited run for this reason
translation is gonna be a hit or miss for me. I loved the original localization. Didn't change the main story, but made all the NPCs worth talking to. If they take away NPCs being fun, I'm a just have to stick to the ps1 version
Totally valid, the working designs translation is what made it so memorable for me
Man I am loving it when they remaster thees amazing games I will be tossing this in my buy bin witht he suikoden 1 and 2. Breath of Fire remaster is what we need next. wishlisted it cant preorder yet. Wild arms remasters would be good too.
You read my mind, here’s hoping Wild arms happens. Though most of those are playable on PS5 I’d like a proper remaster
@@Shinky 100% or even a harder title to get would be a update/remake ,remaster of the phantasy stars 1-4 from the old sega. due to how old it is a remake might be needed over just a remaster.
I want to know why there still isn't a Steam page.
Hopefully soon, it’s been confirmed for steam so I’m wondering why as well
I just paid $130 for the PS1 version of Lunar complete on ebay
While some might see that as an oof, I feel it’s nice to have it. It’s got a great translation and as far as I’m concerned it’s a piece of JRPG history
These were ones i wanted physical copies of for quite a while now. The price tags though 😬
Well hopefully they go down in price with the remaster
I will buy Lunar Remastered Collection for my Xbox Series X
PS5 for me
I'm really looking forward to this release, but I still find it hilarious how current-gen consoles are basically expensive emulators.
It sure seems that way doesn’t it?
Wish they had a 3rd game
Day one purchase on Xbox and switch for me. If it's ever released physically I will buy that as well 😂
When we getting remastered Sega CD LUNAR?
I wish we would get that at some point as I’ve never played it before
Would be even better if they could remake instead of remaster.
I wouldn’t trust them to remake it and maintain its charm. I’m happy with a remaster
remaster*
@@kidrobot. thanks
If you're interested, I have a near mint Eternal Blue : CE collection, with all the goodies and cd's, Im willing to sell!
I appreciate that, but I have that myself already. Thanks for the offer and thanks for watching =)
I'm Buying it just to use Dollar Democracy to vote for Lunar 3.
I don’t think the team that made Lunar exists any longer
Wish was the sega cd versions
I’ve never actually played the Sega CD versions but I hear they’re drastically different
The fact that you would haul at 15" tv to your friends is baffling to me. Kids nowadays have probably never even seen the GIANT BOX THAT WEIGHED 100 LBS that you probably took to your friends place.
I ask you, out of deep concern, WHY???????
Oh it wasn’t that heavy, it was maybe 15 pounds tops. And it was just what we did haha. I look back at it now and think it’s silly but it’s a memory I don’t regret
Aye sir 🫡
Really thought Ur handle was stinky jrpg .
It's a lol moment 🎉
This is really cool, but now if they could just make Xenogears remastered all could be right in the world...
I need to give that game another shot, it’s another I haven’t finished
I don’t really care about new voices over. I just want the old translation but with better quality audio and higher resolution.
Same. I was a bit sad with Lemina saying ‘Mega Magic Flame’ and it sounding so…different
I hope they give us the option to switch back to old translation.
Not silly at all
I wanna be excited. But I am waiting to find out how bad its censored. And if so, pass.
Seems like a ps1 port... they have done nothing like the suikoden remaster with good backgrounds etc... this is a like for like ps1 port with wide-screen support...
Not getting it. Have it on my psvita (ps1 port and psp port of the first game).
I’m just glad it’s out on modern hardware, and more people will have the opportunity to play it.
(Trophies are always a positive too)
@Shinky yeah but they shouldn't call it a remaster... the psp version was OK, with new sprites and background but they shouldn't call it a remaster... feels just wrong. Praying on us with nostalgia...
Well it is wide screen now and upscaled resolution, it’s barebones but it is still a remaster
Fine... but I doubt the new generation will appreciate these classics in their original form. They should have done this right... instead, they port something and call it remasters... I think this is deception.
No switch print??
Nope I mentioned switch, it’s coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Switch and Xbox One. No word on physical yet but if Grandia HD collection is of any indication (Gung-Ho also handled that) it will probably be through limited run.
@@Shinky I'm just hoping it getting a east asia print like my grandia HD Collection
