Yeah I can't say jrpg for games not made by japanese devs 😅 simply rpg or jrpg inspired. From those type of games I enjoyed Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars.
I still feel JRPG is just a style that originated in Japan, RPG is such a broad term of so many different styles and JRPG is just a way to narrow it down. That’s how I see it at least.
If you liked Battle Chasers, try the Ruined King. It's a Riot Forge game developed by Airship Syndicate. It's a refinement of the systems introduced in Battle Chasers.
I've honestly really been wanting to play Sea of Stars. It looked a lot like the kind of game I'd want to play. I probably ought to pick it up at some point.
@@Shinkyit has more than a few shortcomings. It's cast is insufferable and Garl is a textbook Mary Sue. And this is coming from someone who followed its progress closely during development and had the highest hopes for it. It's written like the scribbles of an angst ridden teenager whose bullied and uses the writing as his/her outlet
I always have to throw out Septerra Core and Anachronox when this topic comes up. They're both way older than anything on this list but are well worth playing if you can get past the janky controls.
I have really basic bitch taste and love Undertale and Chained Echoes. they are genuinely some of the best games I've ever played. Cosmic Star Heroine is at the beginning of this video and honestly that one (and all that company's games) is great. Fell Seal is really good for SRPGs - I was pretty amazed at just how much is in that game. only played like 7 hours of CrossCode but it was great. is WitchSpring R indie? that one for sure if it is. I did not like Sea of Stars :X
Sea of Stars had such a good base, it just peaked too early and lost all sense of progression. And undertale/chained echoes are popular for a reason. They’re really good games so don’t feel bad for liking them
@@Shinky SOS is beautiful with great music and it's very short for an RPG, so it's not like painful, but I think the lack of any progression in gameplay and the terrible characters mean I can't really recommend it
Great video!!! I love JRPGs that aren't really JRPGs haha, like the first two South Park RPGs - soooooo good and clearly JRPGs!!!
Oh those southpark games were fantastic.
Ahhhhhhhh bug fables the indie paper mario. Amazing video and awesome selections for this list!!!
It’s such a good game! I love it!
AWESOME picks here!! I have to play Bug Fables, as I love how it's an homage of sorts to Paper Mario.
Right? Please play it, it’s for sure worth it
Appreciate your video, thank you 🎉
Appreciate your comment, thanks for watching
Amazing video! I had a very similar idea in mind, but looks like you beat me to it 🤣
The grind! It never stops haha
Awesome video Brother have a awesome weekend
You too bud! Thanks for watching!
Chained Echoes was amazing
I still need to play it. I hear it’s fantastic
Pretty good topic and list, another game I can also think of, is Chained Echoes, anyone whos into Xenogears will get a kick out of it
I didn’t finish Cross Code but from what I played of it so far I enjoyed my time with it. Big Fables is great as well.
Bug fables is legit charming, cross code is so unique

Just seen this Cross Code yesterday. Going grab it today, gotta be a sign 😂
Cross Code is a beautiful game, I hope you enjoy it

Oh it’s definitely on my list

This list for some reason deos not include Anachronox.
How many other games give you a whole planet as a party member?
Truth be told I’ve never actually played Anachronox. I love comments like this because it puts games on my radar that I may have missed!

I’ve heard of Septerra Core but Anachronox is new to me. I’ll have to check them both out

JRPG and JRPG-inspired are not the same 😮💨 J stands for japanese. if it's not in japan it's inspired. not a JRPG. great video anyway!
Thank you for saying this. I hate how the internet decides that definitions don't have meaning. It's not hard to say Japanese inspired
