Good to see ya! Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas! Good points to keep in mind always. You mentioned the fly control. We have a difficult time here in east Texas where it's HOT and nasty humid. The flies and mosquitos are a terrible issue most of the year. What do you recommend for trying to control that? We don't have cows yet- goats at this point and chickens, ducks and quail. 😊. Living here in the piney woods, we need to clear more land and get the pasture full of good grass before we can put cows out. We bought 22 acres of beautiful woods with lots of different trees, but that's not great for grazing animals. We are continually clearing and seeding. Thanks for passing it on. Much love and prayers.
I agree that inbreeding (breeding a father and daughter) should be avoided. But breeding two siblings together is called line breeding and is often used in cattle breeding. I would suggest a person do some studying before trying line breeding to understand what is happening. Here is an article on line breeding cattle. onpasture.com/2014/10/20/breeding-matters-iii-inbreeding-vs-line-breeding/
Father/daughter and mother/son breeding is not inbreeding. It’s like breeding, and can be advantageous when doing it intentionally. Inbreeding is breeding brothers and sisters, and that is what causes the problems you are describing in this video.
Jay, what your talking about is called line breeding. To much on this topic for a reply, but I did a video ( Barn Chat 12/11/17 )on this topic. Easy to find in the Barn Chat playlist. I give some of the reasons I would not recommend line breeding.

Great info. I sure did not know that. When I go to buy my cows, I might try to get your number so you can talk me through it.🤔

Yes they are. Most folks think I like cattle more than humans, and they could be right. 😀 ~ Rich
