- Finally a return to boxes that I love to open! The December Illumicrate box had the least consistent theme of any box ever, but I love all of the items individually. The book could have been better, Fairyloot and Illumicrate have made some stunning editions this year, but overall the Better Together box was a good addition to their boxes this year.

I finally got my November box for Fairyloot and that video will be up on Friday!!
Look forward to your thoughts on the November box. I have to say I am excited for the December box from FairyLoot whenever that is going to ship out. I have read from the author and I have a feeling this chunker of a book that will be phenomenal. I am optimistic about the items too so hope they don’t screw up. It should definitely beat Illumicrate on final boxes of the year.
I really can’t wait for Decembers box. Love the theme❤
Well said about the whole issue with the calendar. I agree Illumicrate are an extremely diverse and inclusive company. It depends on books they use and what characters they use that are known
Its a shame because their Priory art in the calender was iconic, and it made me feel very seen, but life goes on!

I love the items in this box, that calendar is so useful! We got one from FairyLoot a couple of years ago and I never used it, and I didn't even display it. The sprayed edges are pretty :) That books sounds interesting, and now I feel like I need to pay attention to new releases as I've not heard this mentioned before!
It's just a show the edition of the book itself wasn't more wow!
Aah, I'm only slightly disappointed I skipped this because that pin!!! I love it. Don't love the other items, but they're alright, and I don't care much for the book. Glad you're happier about this one than the November box 😊 I'm really looking forward to the January one as well!

They did a GREAT job with all the item choices this month, great designs too! Agree that the calendar should’ve been labelled, BRILLIANT quality calendar though! Personally, I think with it being pretty huge in size, it should’ve included boxes so we could write under each day, it’s kinda massive for something that can’t be used? ADORE the crescent city item. The book was pretty middle ground which I’m happy with. Very spacey, nothing mind blowing but I’m not disappointed either - really like the simple foil design actually and the edges match the cover well. I just want stand out/unique redesigned covers 🙈
I miss the books being really WOW! I'm thinking Daughter of the Moon Goddess, These Woven Kingdoms etc. Agreed, for the size the design could have had more practical use of space AND labels!
This box is definitely a bit better already! A huge fan of the mug so I immediately ordered it on vinted for quite a good price :D
That's the best way to get items, just getting what you like on Vinted!
The items were cool in this box! I'm not typically one to criticize art (because we all have our own tastes) but that calendar is definitely not my cup of tea 😬. I am totally in love with that pin though, so jealous!
Us in the States just got our December 2022 box today! A slight difference is our book doesn't come in that yellow bag thingy. Ours is like, shrink wrapped in plastic.
Overall, wasn't super happy with the box, comparing it to Januaries 2023's.

I really liked this box. Will be honest wasn’t keen on the book choice (not a big sci-fi fan) but I’ll give it a go. The cover is pretty too.
This box is “meh” for me too. 😢 I still haven’t gotten shipping notices for my Nov or Dec box; maybe in January.

@@Wanderness yeah. They said December will be delayed and November might come in mid January.
I was super pleased to see a desk calendar but considering how big it is, it lacks a practical side because there's not really much space to write near the dates. Was a bit disappointed with the book edges but we have been spoilt in previous months 🙈
It is really big if you have a standard desk size or two screens! I'm in my big desk era so I have space, luckily!

with illumicrate for the last year ive realised the more excited i am for the book the more disappointed i am by the box. my biggesdt grumble though is again i have a calander with no idea who the pictures are, would it kill them to label the images?
i also couldnt believe that the red scholar has been made blue and purple, i need to lower my expectation when im excited by the book.
I feel like this jewellery box feels more high quality than the one we got with fairyloot?
I was disappointed the book seems to be missing the bound in author letter. I’m curious to read it though

I do not understand this calendar. What is the flappy bit at the bottom?? It doesn't allow the calendar to stand up when you flip it to the front or back. And it's weird just inline with the calendar itself. WHAT IS THIS AND HOW DO I USE IT

My least favourite fandoms are Caraval and The Night Circus 💀 BUT a booksleeve and bookends are always welcome items!
I know the book and have read from the author and I am super excited to see what they have done with the book itself. In fact the author, I read her debut book a little while back and it is in my favourite reads of the year.
@@Wanderness ohh no, I'm so sorry to hear that :( luckily the bookends will be fandom neutral at least! is there a specific reason why you dislike them so much? Honestly, I have such mixed feelings on caraval.. I really enjoyed the world the author built but the romance was a bit... off, in my opinion.
@@cleg78 I'm really looking forward to it too, especially since apparently it's a complete redesign if I understood it correctly! It'll be my first box, so I'm still a bit unfamiliar with the language I guess haha xD the plot sounds very intriguing as well!

dec on the calender is apparently spinning silver, And ive already sold my calender and CC item haha and trying to sell the mug. I only got this box for CC so that item was.... very dissappointing. I do like the design on the book, i really like the colours. However that book has a lot to live up to coz my fave sci-fi book is litrally.... a sentient space ship (the ship who searched by anne mccaffrey) but they go looking for archaeology sites of older alien races.
all up i did think the box was worth the money, but i am VERY excited for Jans books from fl and IC and at least fl for feb (unsure about ic yet...)

I had forgotten about the CC item in this, so I can see how you were disappointed if this is the reason you got the box, but I'm pleased the items are an easy sell!
@@Wanderness its quite old, from like 1994! The idea is that children who won't survive go into the "shell program" where they then go on to become sentient ships, space stations etc. Its all explained in the book but I love it. Tia (the MC) is the oldest child to go into the program. There's a few books in the series (all can be read as stand alones) but that one is my fave 🤩

I doubt it! I think you've done the right thing, you can generally get what you want from boxes on resell sites much cheaper
