- It's been a long time coming but I've finally opened A Moth to the Flame and Caged Hearts boxes from Fairyloot and Illumicrate for February 2024! I had so much fun opening one of these boxes, and it really was what I needed to cheer up. Fairyloot YA box was briliant, and the Fairyloot team have done a fantastic job with this one. Daphne Press and Illumicrate didn't do a bad job, but they were no match for the fun filled YA Fairyloot box.

I haven't heard of the Illumicrate book but I totally agree that it was gorgeous! I'm with you with white covers/foiling and not wanting to get it dirty or full of fingerprints. So to solve that, I made myself an adjustable fabric book cover. It's fits most of the YA books I've ever had and gives them a bit of protection from dings as well as dirt/oil. I know that you can find a few to buy online, but if you sew at all, it is super easy to make. Lots of tutorials here on YT, which is where I got my pattern...
Fairyloot: Not a fan of the ball cap, but I appreciate the goose mug. A lot different than most found in book boxes. I liked the art on the tote, but I'm very over totes-I've gotten so many from Owlcrate! The key chains (and tote) remind me of why I went to book only with OC. The book is really pretty too. Love the foiling on the hard cover.

I joined Illumicrate subscription and got my first box this month (March). I can't wait to see what you think about this month's box. Still waiting on the FairyLoot wait list (since October...) and while I was previously thinking of giving up even if I was offered a space - I am now excited and impatient to get in again :)

I was ready to drop FL YA last year, but they’re really upping their game at the moment! Definitely glad I managed to get this edition.
Not sure if you still have any of the book jackets Illumicrate do, but they’re great for protecting my hardbacks from oily fingers/make up etc. and help keep the foiling safe too! I use mine literally all the time 😂
So glad these book boxes helped. I hope your mental health improves and stays good for awhile! I understand the struggle because I struggle with mental health issues too.

Good to see you back, hope you’re doing ok ❤ The boxes weren’t too bad overall item wise. Love the trident and book bag. The keyrings are cute too and the books are 😙👌🏻 Did you manage to sign up for the Romantasy?

Now you see what we meant with customisation and budget going to the ya book for February haha. I do not like the cover of the IC book but it feels such good quality and I adore the edges.
As for the press I needed to look up what was happening as I am not down with all the bookish controversies. Although I understand why people are unhappy at the end of the day some of these authors had their contracts written and planned to be published months and months even potentially years ago. Not purchasing the book will affect them way more and also as Martin press is part of the Macmillan publishing, it affects UK printed books as well :/ also there are so many other employees who has nothing to do with this who would be affected. It is important to call the behaviour out completely agree about that.
I ran out of skips for FL YA this year so I’ve been getting them, fully intending to cancel the subscription when Romantasy invite comes in. But honestly the book picks and customisations Jan-March have so far been very impressive 💀

I was blown away at the YA Fairyloot book. I signed up for book only and It’s the first one that has wowed me. I’m on the wait list for the adult box and will wind up on the waitlist for Romantasy since I was unaware of the waitlist so didn’t get an email invitation to sign up. I highly doubt there will be any open spots for that box once people respond to that invite 😢

IC for feb for me was dissappointing, and i wish id skipped. I only got it for the replica and its my least fave replica they have done. I will try and read the book but im not too phases by it. The book is beautiful but the description didnt really catch my attention. I dont use glass tumblers either, but the plastic bag will come in handy cause i am travelling in May! And i love the key ring.
Feb Ya I am SOOO glad i got!! The book is beyond stunning, and im currently 80% of the way through and LOVING IT SO MUCH. Its such a good story!! I loved the key rings and the tote bag, but didnt love the hat (feels awful), and the mug (which screams unnamed goose game) was a great size but i literally have no room in my cupboards for it, so it got sold.
the tote is actually number 3! there was a brown one before the grey one :)
Would you consider doing a comparison between FT and Illumicrate in general? You got me interested when you mentioned issues with FT and your commentary is always spot on.

Girl when my mental health goes out the window I can’t even reach out to my parents or closest of friends. My husband literally had to like soothe me to call my dad (cuz I hadn’t in like 3months which ofc made the anxiety worse, also I love my dad no bad feelings. Just mental health shit)

Glad you’re starting to feel better, my mental health is bad at the minute too but it’s coming you to my dad’s birthday, I have 14 videos that need editing and uploading lol but I can’t find the motivation to do it, I’ve been spending my time reading or napping
I think tumbler is cute and the straw will go well in the FL Belladonna tumbler as it’s also purple.
I like the keychain but I hated the Book Eaters lol
I think the replica sword is nice, I’ve read the first 15 chapters of The Poppy War lol.
One Dark Window was a FL book and I agree the design isn’t that nice on the item.
The book design is definitely pretty and I love the end papers, I’m with you I don’t like it when they use a white hardback
I’ve not read Fourth Wing so I was happy that the hat was that fandom lol
The mug is cute, one of the librarians at my library loved it and bought herself one from vinted lol
I loved this book tote as I’ve read a few of the book on it and this one has a zipper on it
I was asked who I’m giving my other half too and when I said myself coz I’m my own best friend they laughed but I do like them and I agree it looks more like a butterfly
I loved the dust jacket are and colour change of the under dust jacket is nice too and I love the end papers I’ll be reading the book over the weekend.

I know I am book only for Illumicrate but I think I would have loved the items.
I really liked a lot of aspects of the book, I did not like the white hardcover though with the embossing. There is something about white hardbacks xx
The Fairyloot box I really really liked and as for the book 🫢🥰 it’s gorgeous and everything is just so right=
I even adored the shareable key rings they were beautiful
I adore the Fairyloot version of the book and…and the big bonus is hearing people talking about the book are saying it is absolutely amazing to read and I have seen lots of high ratings🤗
I absolutely love the FL book - just stunning! Had a good laugh at the cap - 10/10 style if one would dare wear it outside. 😂 I loved the goose mug so much!

Just cancelled my YA, and subscribed to the romantacy. Although the YA books are stunning, the items are just clutter at this point. I'd happily subscribe to an adult, YA and romantacy 3 book box
I think they said they would do a plan for all 3 books, but I'm just going to do romantasy and adult 👏

I am a fourth wing fan, but the cap was hideous! The second FW item they screwed up. They are doing another FW item in April, but I'm tempering my expectations 😅
They keep doing FW items and it seems like an attempt to get it right every time 😂
I personally loved the cap but I'm a big fan of the corduroy vibes with the embroidery. I'm really hoping the FW April item is the page overlays they mentioned!
