Thanks Neil for all your videos, which were tremendously helpful and informative when I was preparing for my radical prostatectomy carried out on 25 May 2024 at NNUH. I got my results yesterday (20 August 2024) from Prof Ilie (our shared consultant) - PSA undetectable, and tumour was removed with clear margins. He said it was the very best result. Phew! Time to restart my life. Again, thanks for all the videos and for explaining your 'journey' in a brave and honest way which really helped my understanding and preparation for the op and the recovery process.

Be assure your donation will filter to Dereham Cancer care place which will be so happy. I started my little videos a year ago and hoped somebody got some use out of them. hi there Steve, no rectal spacer. 3 tattoos (2 at either pelvis and 1 abdomen.) Am now day 14 out of 20 have rectum side affect but nothing major. Loose stools and bit of pain in the area.

Radiation side effects were really mild for me during the treatment period. Two years later my real problems with proctitis started. I wish I had asked about a rectal spacer.

Frank from Denver Colorado USA here. Glad to see your radiation treatment is underway and done while your PSA was low. I assume you are not on hormone therapy as i hear no mention of it in your video. I have 2 more sessions of 33 to go. The most bothersome part is the daily rectum and bladder preparation and the travel to the hospital. Fatigue is more like a lazyness and some urinary frequency. Occasionally diarrhea. Your machine looks exactly like the one i go to. Technicians are wonderful. I hope our treatment results in not needing hormone therapy as that will change our quality of life. Will keep in touch. Above link may be useful in understanding of when ADT is considered. If I remember correctly your Gleason score was medium. And according to these guidelines ADT is not strongly indicated.

Be careful with the rectum issue, I went through the same thing as you a little over a year ago. I also did the short 20 session treatment. . through I developed radiation proctitis. I have been fighting it ever since. I just had surgery for it a week ago and will require 1,maybe 2 more with no guarantee. It has now been almost 1 and a1/2 years.
Cheers for the advice, it's not a huge problem at the minute but I'm only half way through it's just when I feel the need to empty the bowels when the pain kicks in. Thanks for watching and commenting

Are you wearing an incontinence pad before the treatment?
No nothing worn. Had operation 1yr ago and incontinence was never a problem.
Interesting technology. What did your initial prep consist of? Gold targets and a the rectal spacer?

yes this is the radiation machine, its painless mate
@@neildavidson7768 I always tell men to have it cut out. My dad opted for radiation in 1985 after I told him to get it cut out. He lived 5 years.
