Honestly, the scariest part is the guy drinking root beer out of a 561 year old golden goblet and leaving it, along with a PILE OF ANCIENT GOLD COINS, laying out on the deck of his boat. I really feel the exasperation and disappointment in IGP’s voice at that.
As someone who has gone scuba diving going over an empty abyss not seeing the floor and feeling the cold water hit your chest is very eerie and my oxygen use always went up in those areas. Branches under the water look like the bony fingers of some sort of demon sticking out of the mud. The great fear of the unknown can make anything seem scary.
I don't know what's more horrifying about the game... the fact that it confronts you with one of the worst phobias, or it's beyond cringe-worthy story dialogue
I'm shocked that this isn't mentioned more... The writing and acting are fucking terrible, and people are commending the actors commenting. Criticism helps people improve man...
Eh, I don’t really care about the dialogue at all to be honest. All I really paid attention to was the sharks. Edit: Now that I actually listen to it, it's not actually that bad for a free game.
I remember watching Jaws 2 where they zap the shark and it pops out of the water and roars. My dad laughed and said "sharks don't have vocal cords" he ruined the movie lol
I once swam so far away from the beach, I only saw total darkness under me and for just few seconds, I forgot where I was and what I was doing, I just panicked and you could say I lost control. Luckily, my father is my swimming partner and he pulled me out of this... ''panic mode''. I don't want to think about what would happen if we didn't decide on a race that day and if I went alone. I never before felt afraid of the ocean, only curios and fascinated with the ocean life. But since that moment, I never swam so far away on my own and only stayed on the boat when in deep waters. I have great respect for the ocean and knowing there is so much unknown there makes it scarier than anything on land for me
I know this, and In fact outside the water I love sharks they're adorable in their own way. But when im in the water my Thalassophobia kicks in and all logical thinking goes out the window lol
"Curiosity killed the cat" The shark is called curiosity and the person is a cat Just saying..😂😂 But for real its never nice feeling small in an ocean that feels way too big and foreign and having something as big as you or bigger coming towards you
I cannot believe that they made 47 Meters Down into a game but with different characters. Man I give full credit to you IGP for playing a game that speaks your worst nightmares.
Lol. "He's possessed by the sharks." that one made me laugh. It would be so cool to see a great white shark in person especially when their whole bodies leap out of the water. Definitely not in this terrifying situation though lol.
I can confirm, they are BEAUTIFUL in nature, I was so lucky to see a huge pregnant female swimming by our cruise ship one time, she was beautiful and very docile, she was just swimming below us and all the sudden she jumped to catch something (I didn’t see what) IT WAS SO COOL I hope you can experience it too!
When I was in high school I got pulled out into a riptide while in the ocean, and while making my way out of it I felt something swim up in between my inner thighs. It kind of lifted me up a small amount and i knew I was had to get out fast. Maybe a couple minutes later I see a seal pop up in front of me. Damn seal seal scared the ever living shit outa me.
The best plot twist of all would have been if Zane opened the cockpit door and a massive shark was at the helm. "It was me, Zane. I'm a shark. Always have been"
IGP: "You drink root beer from it? These things have value and historic meaning. What disrespect." Spain in the 15th and 16th century: "Whats all these metals and trickets the locals gave us? We asked for GOLD quick dump this junk into the sea and lets get armed they must be hidding the GOLD" *Spanish Conquistador's proceed to dump literally hundreds of tonnes of Platinum into the ocean before committing atrocious acts.* Humans be like that IGP.
Unlike the Aztecs who never committed atrocious acts...oh wait, their entire civilisation was literally about torturing, murdering and eating people. The only reason they went to war was to harvest people to kill. Literally the most demonic religion ever to exist in human history.

When Zane was talking about his feelings at the beginning, about being a part of a special duo, I was fairly disappointed when I realized he wasn't talking to the gun.
As someone with pretty bad Thalassophobia, games tend not to scare me all that much, compared to real life, where the ocean is a big fat fuck no on nearly every level. The idea of this happening is frankly one of the worst things I could imagine. ThoughbI wasn't all that scared by the game itself
fun fact, even if he DID make it to the surface, he would have likely died anyway because of the sudden change in pressure from the depths to the surface
oh my lord the plot twist at the end where he kills you anyway after you don't shoot him had me so shook i had to pick my jaw up off the floor. i thought there was gonna be some sort of make up arc between the brothers but nope. wild
1:55 - Ohhh, i just checked my Discord on my second monitor and when i heard "Ancient Hungarian forints"...As a Hungarian, it feels very good to see this small country mentioned in games! Thanks IGP!
Expecting your player to press 3 different buttons on different timings all being displayed spaced far apart is one of the worst design decisions I've ever seen
2:35 is exactly where I stopped the video with "No. No." made a strangled sound and questioned whether I should press play again. I have a awful fear of the deep dark depths and what can live down there. My anxiety surging at each appearance of the sharks 😭
1:10 The way the characters in-game were just driving home the point that they were in the middle of the ocean without any land in sight. You cannot tell me the devs didn’t do that on purpose for the thalassophobic folks who might play this game.
Dominic for all his life had a slow growing bitter resentment at how cheerful his brother is all the time while he constantly got more and more injured, chasing after his brother's dreams as a 'sidekick', once he got cancer the overwhelming hopelessness and frustration turned to rage and he snapped. In all likelihood had he not been faced with certain death in the form of a way too expensive to cure condition he would have just kept bottling up that resentment until he died, likely in some accident looking for treasure, and being aware of that made it all the worse.
I went on a cruise ship a few years ago, we were out in the ocean for almost a week. I would sometimes go out and look into the endless water and wonder if anything was looking back. There was just ocean and at night, it was so beautiful and so horrifying all the same.
I totaly feel you! I really have lots of love and deep respect, especially when it comes to great whites and tiger sharks! But on the other hand, there is nothing that I fear more than ever having to meet one.
Thought about it and decided on a compromising situation. Aim low. Blow out Dominic’s legs from under him. The restrain him and bandage the wounds. Reduce the threat and don’t kill him. Turn him in to the police. For added insurance, if he rants and raves some more on the ride home, record it with the phone without saying you are. Help back your story for the police.
The game was nicely scary. It really brings the fear of the ocean to light. Concerning the characters, on the other hand. Dominic brought his death upon himself. He got what was coming to him. Though, you can’t really blame him for how miserable he feels. Forced to join his older brother on a life of adventure because he wouldn’t stop begging him. At first, it was fun, but repeatedly getting injured until finally being afflicted with a disease that gave him cancer. I would be angry to. However, Dominic was going too far with trying to kill his brother. He got what he deserved, but it’s kind of sad. I could’ve just angrily told Zane he was done adventuring with him and that’d be that. Apparently, Zane may not have been a good brother, if not a selfish one. Didn’t he once think about Dominic’s well-being?
He loved his brother, but probably didn't see how he was hurting. Probably would've sold every last piece of his treasure in a heartbeat if he'd known, to pay for Dom's treatment.
@@zodiachimera7557 I can see that, Zane must've been too caught up in adventuring to realize that it did more damage to Dominic than bringing them closer together.
Dragging his brother along? He never HAD to go in the first place. Blaming your brother for your own lack of common sense (if you don’t like it, stop going) is just BS writing.
@@John-fk2ky Bad writing, but unfortunately also something that's true to life. There's many people in the world are all too happy to blame their ills on the nearest scapegoat, when the troubles are just the consequences of their own actions and/or poor judgements.
@@zodiachimera7557 Yes so true and in light of this, Dominic was the lousy brother not Zane. Trying to kill your brother over something that was your fault to begin with is childish and despicable, no matter what the excuse.
Just looking at the water triggers so man fears! I swung at the damn screen more to this than most games I have watched. Gotta praise the amount of audio work you do Indy!
My worst fear is just not seeing what’s under me, being alone in the middle of the ocean without being able to see under me. I’m even scared of seaweed if it touches me lol

Being stranded in a survival situation is actually kind of a cool dream of mine, like being stranded on a raft at sea or lost deep in the wilderness. Shame I have megathalasaphobia, so my dream is also my nightmare.
For some reason, the part at 1:09 reminds me of when a character in a musical show is about to sing (the upbeat tune paired with the dialogue kinda gives me that vibe🤷)
*sees fin on the surface* "I am no longer happy." *the cage goes for a dip* "I am not happy at all." *The cage falls!* "Not feeling any degree of happiness right now!!!" *sees the sharks* "[unintelligible whimpers]."

To be honest I expected the Surfshark sponsorship so much I thought the sharkfin IGP saw was the intro to the sponsorship. Ive inly seen one other person play this game so far but I dont think they saw the fin so yeah. Expected sponsorship
I have major thalassophobia and it was weird how similar our fear is of imagining being plopped into the ocean. I had a recurring dream years ago of waking up on my bed in the middle of the open ocean with a huge fin showing up every now and then. I love sharks, but from a distance. Btw I love that they used the Jaws The Revenge roar 😂😂
I imagine Zane got hit in the head a few times before this adventure started. He talkin' like a Nikelodeon Dora the Explorer character. "Can you say Manta Ray? Say it louder! Come back Mister Manta Ray! :D"
This is my worst fear as well, thalassophobia with knowing I'm going towards certain death by drowning or shark attack. I sometimes lay in my bed thinking if there is magic in the world, maybe it would teleport me to an ocean in the middle of the night if I would think too much about it. Scary shiet.
Always looking forward to these amazing videos no matter what I'm going through in life. I often find myself wondering when the next video will be uploaded. Keep up the great work, you're amazing dude.
Fun fact: If you were in the shark cage and it descended to the bottom of the ocean, you'd have to do compression stops on your way up so that the oxygen in your lungs doesnt expand too quickly and kill you. If you were on the wrong mix of gases you'll also be under Nitrogen Narcosis which is supposedly similar to being drunk. The decompression time IIRC is 1:1 [Although I'm not a diver so someone correct me on this], so every 5 minutes you spend at depth is 5 minutes of decompression time. Triple bonus points for the fact that the diver in this game was knocked unconscious at the bottom of the ocean so likely reflexively breathed, using up his gas. Since it looks like they were going to do a wreck dive, it was probably tri-mix so he will experience the effects of nitrogen narcosis less. However, divers typically follow a 1/3rd rule. Once 1/3rd of your gas is empty, you return, so that you know that you have 1/3rd available for the return trip, and 1/3rd in case anything goes wrong.
I will literally not swim in water that I can't see the bottom of dude. So trust me when I say I get it. You were actually the one that inspired me to buy Subnautica.........which hasn't been the best value in spending for me because i ALWAYS starve to death because I panic when it tries to make me swim at night. Yeah the fear is REAL to me....real life or video game it seems.
This is a good time to say that sharks are non aggressive. Or at least have no need in eating humans if anything sharks will only go after small fish and whales, and not humans
Someone NEEDS to write a fanfic of what happened after the betrayed endings. Was Zane's body thrown to the sharks? Was it left on the boat to rot? Did dominic actually stay remorseless, or did the guilt slowly creep up on him? Did he start reconsidering his choices and, as that one commentor in here said, how his brother would've payed every cent of the treasures they found for the treatement? What about the cancer, did he beat it? WE NEED ANSWERS!!
Gonna be honest, I prefer the endings where Zane dies, he clearly only ever thinks about himself, even after killing his brother he near instantly goes back to 'well time to become a treasure hunter like I've wanted sense I was 5 because that is when I stopped maturing'
I was terrified when u told us about your fear, that was enough for me. I have thalassophobia, and watch videos of Subnautica and other SEA games, so I can confront my fear. But so far this game made me f**king shit my pants, just when Xane is going down my phobia strikes and strikes hard hahahahahhaha

the ideas of this game were... alright, they were interesting. but having a shark attack you in the way it did in this game, sharks don't work like that, it would have been better if it was another creature. the story was meh, the voice acting was pretty good except for the bad script. it's not an awful game but there could be alot of improvements

Plus, he may have been your brother, but he still tried to kill you. Like everything that happened to him was his fault. He could've just left.
yeah honestly, shit like this always makes me angry, like stop goddamn projecting HE DID NOT FORCE YOU TO COME, and after you got hurt the first time you couldve already said "bro im out, its to dangerous" AFTER GETTING ROBBED AND SHOT I CAN UNDERSTAND VERY WELL!!!! but he could only see his standpoint where he was "forced" because the lil bro cried too much, yeah right, grow up and learn responsibility a hole ^^
"The radio isn't working. I'm just going to assume you're saying everything is fine. What? Cut the chain? That doesn't make any sense. What? I can't hear anything! Ok, I'm just gonna cut the chain."
The tone in dominics voice made his intentions blatantly obvious from the start so the plot is pretty much non existent in this case.
Yeah I need to skip the dialogue, just can't stand it
Eh, I don’t really care about the dialogue at all to be honest. All I really paid attention to was the sharks.
Edit: Now that I actually listen to it, it's not actually that bad for a free game.
The game's free tho
The shark roaring is definitely my favorite part
I remember watching Jaws 2 where they zap the shark and it pops out of the water and roars. My dad laughed and said "sharks don't have vocal cords" he ruined the movie lol
IGP's video: Litterally a shark on Earth on a wooden boat in a cage underwater.
TH-cam: Yep that's definitely Subnautica.
That dialogue was The Room-tier hilarious.
Not to mention it dragged out so unnecessarily long as well

Some of the worst I’ve heard in a while
I once swam so far away from the beach, I only saw total darkness under me and for just few seconds, I forgot where I was and what I was doing, I just panicked and you could say I lost control.
I have great respect for the ocean and knowing there is so much unknown there makes it scarier than anything on land for me
As a Marine Biologist…. Sharks aren’t out to get people. They are just curious by nature
Or they can mistaken you as a seal, but that mostly happens with surfers.
curious meaning?...what are they lookin to do exactly? just see you or?
@@TChunky mostly just checking out what's new. sometimes they could take a bite to see if you are a worthy snack.
I know this, and In fact outside the water I love sharks they're adorable in their own way. But when im in the water my Thalassophobia kicks in and all logical thinking goes out the window lol
"Curiosity killed the cat"
The shark is called curiosity and the person is a cat
Just saying..😂😂
But for real its never nice feeling small in an ocean that feels way too big and foreign and having something as big as you or bigger coming towards you
"Get protected today with The Shark!"
Considering what type of game this is, that line made me laugh.
This dude's halarious. That scream on the way back to the surface made me laugh every time.
Player character: I hope I don't get eaten.
Everyone: I can't wait to watch this guy get eaten.
@@vulturedrawz Thanks :)
When I was in high school I got pulled out into a riptide while in the ocean, and while making my way out of it I felt something swim up in between my inner thighs. The best plot twist of all would have been if Zane opened the cockpit door and a massive shark was at the helm.

*Spanish Conquistador's proceed to dump literally hundreds of tonnes of Platinum into the ocean before committing atrocious acts.*
Humans be like that IGP.
'Unripe Silver' they called it.
:(
The fact we put so much value in colored metals is hilarious and sad when you think about it.

Thanks IGP!
That was the longest villain monologue ever and those quick time events lmao. i'm here for it
Expecting your player to press 3 different buttons on different timings all being displayed spaced far apart is one of the worst design decisions I've ever seen
These indie devs are surely making amazing games these days.
I sure hope so...
The developer is actually Greek!

25:30 is such a classic.
"I'm not gonna shoot 'im. I'm not gonna shoot 'im. JUST KIDDING! DuMbAsS. Where's the sharks? Eat 'im up? Eat 'im up."
3:56
“Oh jeez I can think of like 9 uses for this (shotgun) right now.”
😂
I will say sharks are one of my favorite animals but when it comes to being in the waters with them its terrifying especially when you can't see them
The crying is so realistic I almost end up crying too. Zane, you are the best!
Just looking at the water triggers so man fears! I swung at the damn screen more to this than most games I have watched. Gotta praise the amount of audio work you do Indy!
Between that bad guy's attitude and luck, seems like slim odds he finds that treasure and makes it back alive.
My worst fear is just not seeing what’s under me, being alone in the middle of the ocean without being able to see under me. I’m even scared of seaweed if it touches me lol
you know how when you go snorkeling it's all very enjoyable until you go further away from shore and then you get to a drop off and you're like yeah nah thx. It's a special kind of feeling looking into the nothing

"... We need to go back to land and leave that ship to rot."
11:10 He is just standing here... MENACINGLY
Zane's acting is the equivalent to that of a B-movie. I love it.

This games feels very arcadey, like something out of an arcade Cabinet. I honestly love it.
Bad thing about this situation is the waiting around as you have regular decompression stops, that's when its most dangerous
Love the look of this game, i've never played it but it's on my play list.
I'm currently playing through the Five Night's at Freddy's games. After not playing them for so many years they are literally making me scream for reals
I love the fact that he stopped talking as soon as he saw the shark fin. Basically him wondering if it was real or not just staring at where he last saw it.
To be honest I expected the Surfshark sponsorship so much I thought the sharkfin IGP saw was the intro to the sponsorship. Ive inly seen one other person play this game so far but I dont think they saw the fin so yeah. Expected sponsorship
Is it just me or does Dominic sound like he was an extra on Poppy Playtime or My Friendly Neighborhood? He's creepily upbeat...
Sounds like Bruce Campbell to me
What you call creepily upbeat I'd call terribly acted! But otherwise I agree 😂
I had the same reaction as you when the gun struggle came up, like that was so confusing lmao
Its crazy how they made both Dom and Zane interesting characters in such a small time
17:35....that's the sound the Shark makes in Jaws: The Revenge.
I don’t blame you the ocean is death itself
It's absolutely hilarious how the voice acting suddenly got kind of good when shit got too real for the diver 😂
The voice actor for Dominic was amazing
I imagine Zane got hit in the head a few times before this adventure started. He talkin' like a Nikelodeon Dora the Explorer character. "Can you say Manta Ray? Say it louder! Come back Mister Manta Ray! :D"
This is my worst fear as well, thalassophobia with knowing I'm going towards certain death by drowning or shark attack. I sometimes lay in my bed thinking if there is magic in the world, maybe it would teleport me to an ocean in the middle of the night if I would think too much about it. Scary shiet.
I love the sarcastic script and voice acting
Always looking forward to these amazing videos no matter what I'm going through in life. I often find myself wondering when the next video will be uploaded. Keep up the great work, you're amazing dude.
I didn't have a crippling fear of the ocean till I found your channel, IGP. 😀 ..just means we're doing something right. Let's do this.
AWE I love zane he's so cute and goofy! I adore his dialogue
Oh boy. This is going to be a fun video. Keep up the great work IGP 👍
Kinda sympathizing with the brother here. Two sentences in and I'm already yelling at Zane to put a cork in it!

Ironic, his feeling of fear and safety both come from sharks.

The writing in this game is frankly hilarious lol
I thought he would have gotten oxygen poisoning and he died from the sharks and everything else was just a hallucination in the Canon ending
I am legitimately terrified of sharks because of a childhood trauma, so it is extremely hard to watch this as entertaining as it is I find myself not looking at the screen when I'm expecting the shark jump scares LOL . I feel your pain.
Glad the developers probably spend a good chunk of time carefully crafting the music for this game…
the ideas of this game were... alright, they were interesting. but having a shark attack you in the way it did in this game, sharks don't work like that, it would have been better if it was another creature. the story was meh, the voice acting was pretty good except for the bad script. it's not an awful game but there could be alot of improvements
I also agree..... bad scripting and I really didn't like Dominic he acted so.... asshole like? XD
