I just lost my baby boy at 20 weeks and 6 days. He was born alive and held my finger before he passed away. My results show that it was due to chorioamnionitis found in the placenta that caused me to go into pre-term labor. Will have a follow-up with my MFM in February to discuss what we can do to prevent it in the future. My Heart goes out to everyone who has lost a baby. Our babies are now flying high.

Thank you so much for covering this topic. I had a stillbirth in October 2022 at 35 weeks and I feel like I didn't hear anything about it throughout my seemingly normal uneventful pregnancy. After I experienced I looked for my favorite TH-cam pregnancy and birth channels for information about stillbirth and couldn't find anything. This information is so important.

I had a uterine rupture 12 hours into an attempted vbac 11 years after my first beautiful son was born. They had 7 minutes to get my 2nd sweet son out in time, thankfully they got him out successfully, and he is now a healthy and beautiful 6 month old. It was very frightening, but by the grace of God we both came out of it healthy. My heart goes out to anyone who has sadly had a late term loss or stillbirth. I've lost 3 babies early on,that was difficult and sad. I can't imagine carrying a baby so long, feeling them, bonding with them to have that heartbreaking conclusion. Great video for information.

Thank you for this compassionate, informed, evidence based look at stillbirth. I’m an RN and also, sadly, a part of “the club” that no one wants to be in as a stillbirth mama to my 4th child 2/2/22. She was full term and perfect born at 40+4 weeks. Interestingly, our case checks none of the boxes you mentioned for causes and risks. Cause of death was presumed cord accident though there were no visible knots, kinks, or abnormalities of the cord per testing and it was not around her neck either. Placental testing came back normal as well. Looking forward to next weeks video. In our case we chose not to do more invasive testing or an autopsy because I just couldn’t do that to my little girl. Happy with the choice we made but it is still hard being in the “unexplained” group! 22:41

My full term, 38-week-old daughter passed away after two hours of life due to a cord prolapse. It took them nearly 20 minutes to take me back to the operating room. We had no risk factors and no prior outstanding obstetric history, which makes getting closure even more difficult. Thank you for covering the pregnancy and infant loss topic because nobody else is speaking up for these babies.

He was beautiful and healthy till he was in heaven. It is a life changing event and the grief is debilitating. Thankfully the Lord has given us two living children and they are thriving. They will never replace Mav but they add joy to our lives. I will alway miss my Maverick. Our family will never be complete it's devastating. Thanks for covering this topic so many shy away from. We lost our first baby 5/9/2022 at 31 weeks due to placental abruption. We are blessed to have that answer and know the "why", but even knowing we struggle with the fact that there isn't a lot we could have done, or can do. We are trying again for baby #2 and we hope to be more informed of these risk factors, and how we can best mitigate them. Thank you for making this video. I just had a stillbirth due to concealed placental abruption. My son passed away on 11/14/2022 and I gave birth to him on 11/16/2022. He was 30 weeks, 3 days gestation. This was my first pregnancy and I was considered low risk. It was an easy and uneventful pregnancy up until my placental abruption. After I got home for the hospital, I came to your TH-cam channel to see if you had any videos about stillbirth or placental abruption. I didn’t find any at the time, but I’m so glad you made this video. The timing couldn’t be better. I’m looking forward to next week’s video so I know what steps to take in the future. Thank you.

I want to bring awareness to this condition called Chronic Histiocytic Intervillositis which is an autoimmune reaction that leads to the placenta coming under attack and getting clogged. There is no screening test for this and the only way to diagnose it is to do a placental postmortem after the loss. There are experimental treatment plans currently under development but no assured cure. I was recently diagnosed with CHI after a second trimester stillbirth. It breaks my heart to think that thousands of people across the planet might not know about this and never receive the diagnosis and live forever with terrifying question of 'why did this happen'.

Thank you for covering this topic. We experienced the stillbirth of our son in October 2021 at 30 weeks and at the time I was searching for videos just like this. Ultimately the reason for our stillbirth was unexplained and in our journey to become pregnant again, I was searching for risk factors that could make stillbirth a possibility in future pregnancies. Covering topics like this, while extremely sensitive and difficult, will help many people who have been through the unfathomable heartbreak and devastating loss due to stillbirth.

My baby #4 was a 37 week stillbirth. She had CDH and T18, but ultimately passed away from the chord being wrapped around her neck 3 times due to poly from the CDH. The doctors at the hospital were so wonderful when I delivered her and did whatever I wanted to have her. My next two pregnancies actually weren’t scary or worrisome.

      @downthehall-way7435 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@randlynch9582 just as Kurt mentioned, it’s Congenital Diaphoretic Hernia. Basically there’s a hole in the diaphragm. It keeps your organs in place and fluid out of the lungs. Also T18 is Trisomy 18 or Edwards Syndrome. It’s an extra 18th chromosome. For reference, Down Syndrome is an extra 21st chromosome. It’s much more severe than Down Syndrome.

We lost our 39 week 2 day old gestation daughter Aug 20, 2024. Her umbilical cord was unusally long (4' 4"/165cm) and was smooth. It wrapped around her neck tightly six times. It was a high risk pregnancy due to my age, preexisting high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. I managed my high risks perfectly and had NST and ultrasounds weekly to monitor my high risk pregnancy. And the thing that killed our daughter was something no one even thought of or was concerned about. Every NST and Ultrasound was perfect.

I lost my baby boy at 31weeks +4 days. I don't know if it's right to blame the system. It was confirmed that I had placenta previa at 21 weeks and no further scans were done until my boy's heartbeat stopped. He was growing fine and weighed 1450grams when I delivered him two days later. No parent should be allowed to face this terrible state. All our hopes were put down just in a matter of seconds when the midwife couldn't trace the heartbeat. I pray to God that please don't let any mum go through the same.

I had labs drawn post-op and my results were consistent for Antiphospholipid Syndrome. But I lost my baby at 39.4 (on Oct. 14th of this year), which is an uncommon manifestation as babies tend to pass between 3-6 months with this condition.
However, I need to follow up with my doctor because my labs 2 weeks post-op came back fine. I still haven’t heard from her. And the autopsy results are still pending. And I still have to get my repeat labs in January. I still have so many questions. 😔

I'm at 36 weeks myself right now and I'm a 38 yr old mom. I had my last at 36 yr old and first at 20 yr old. This time I have gestational diabetes and I'm now very worried about this. We are very very invested in this pregnancy. My 2 yr old and 18 yr old are already excited for their baby brother. I'm that mom that worries excessively. Just lost a 107 day old nephew a few months ago to SIDS so I'm very afraid.

I lost my baby the night before last at 28 almost 29 weeks. Grief is a funny thing. Sometimes I'm sad, sometimes I feel nothing, sometimes I can laugh. My husband and family are digging the plot right now. I went into labor, after lunch, but the doctors said the baby had already been gone 2 days😢 How? I felt nothing. How could I not have felt him die? I had no risk factors and a clean bill of health at every checkup. I do live in a third world county however, and medical care is subpar with patient bedside manner being trash. Worse than trash, traumatizing. Dehumanizing. We spent most of the day yesterday trying to get our son's body. They didn't want to give him to us making excuses like, "you don't want to kake your suffering worse by seeing him." I'll be the judge of that! And when we asked why we lost our baby, they said he was "meant for heaven." I genuinely belive that, but it also gives us no cause. We asked about testing, and after pawning us off to another department they said we could do testing through police forensics. We would have to report the death and it would have to be a legal issue. A friend of mine recently lost her almost one year-old to a brain condition she was born with. The police interrogated and investigated the hearbroken parents, ultimately blaming the father for not being home the day it happened. The man has to make a living! How could they know the day they would lose her? How are they to blame for a known medical condition? The little one was on borrowed time, but still my friend's grief had to be compounded by being a suspect and having to defend her husband. Needless to say, I could not go through that. I could not go through having to make a legal case with all of my checkups to prove I wasn't negligent. So we just have to accept we will never know what happened.

Can you help me understand why routine labs aren’t drawn to check for cholestasis? I had very mild itching (not on my hands or feet) from 34 weeks onward and finally got tested at 37 only to learn the risk of stillbirth warranted an induction… why wouldn’t this routinely be checked if the outcome can be so devastating ?

    • @jellybeansies

Any itching on your body you need to demand to be tested for cholestasis. I needed to advocate for myself and my induction

I did not know this. I had an extreme itch on my feet for weeks during my pregnancy that it would wake me at night. I told my gynae about this and she did not test me. Thank God my son was born full term and healthy. It's so heartbreaking that there are so many things that can go wrong during pregnancy

We had a term stillbirth of our wonderful boy at 38w. He was great at the 37 week checkup and just like that we lost him.
My medical team all around was terrible. My 6 week checkup my ob asked if anyone told me why it happened. I was her first loss but any information regarding testing or whatever else would’ve made my terrible experience slightly less so. Glad your patients have you!

Is there a higher chance of stillbirth if babys heart rate spikes to 180+ during contractions? Iv been to the hospital twice for contractions and high fetal heartrate. I'm 35+3 weeks and my ultrasounds and tests have been normal. I'm worried to go into labor and put stress on my baby. My Dr's won't induce until 39 weeks.

I do wish you had broken out the US rates by race. I feel like it is much higher for Black women in America. In fact more comparable to 3rd world countries or worse.

There was actually 2 hours long study on youtube which I cant find where it was stated that the stillbirth rate in US and UK is progressive and had increased recently in comparison to past years. This disturbing occurance is attributed to inacessible care for mothers.
