I thought the same thing! Right when he said I thought she'd be more attractive than that, a close up of her face came up and I was like, that's his nose. Then I registered what he said and lol'd 😆

It feels like 90% of YT birth stories are all about how natural birth is best and I honestly just want an epidural. I love hearing your perspective especially considering your vocation is OB 💕
I am Doctor as well, 26 weeks today. I really appreciated your honesty in this video guys. Thanks so much for sharing. Congratulations by starting this new, amazing journey and respecting your own needs during birth and parenting. The baby is so gorgeous. See u guys on your next video
poi: you are a PHYSICIAN unless you have a PhD, hun. saying you're a "doctor" is like saying your a "miss". that's a title, not an occupation. and unless you have an actual *doctorate*, as in graduate ed, then you are not "dr" anybody. check out 'rockefeller medicine' to learn how all this came about.
doctor isn't capitalized, and it's not an occupation. do you mean physician? anyone can claim to be that online. and it really doesn't matter. most women know more about this topic than your average white coat.
@@wildaf9519 The right word in english is physician you are right. But does it matter? I am brazilian physician working and living in Norway. Appreciate how candid you both are about the struggles and joys of birth and immediately postpartum. Its a wild wild ride. Filming and editing videos like this must be extremely time consuming (even without a new baby). I'm sure it also comes with a lot of unsolicited opinions and criticism. Hats off to you for sharing your experiences in this vulnerable time. You all are doing amazing.
Thank you so much! It is a WILDDDD ride with a very steep learning curve. We felt that we have learned so much, even as physicians, and hope that by sharing other people feel a little like they know what to expect/are prepared to buckle up for what is coming lol
I am so grateful for your authentic story. I have watched all of your videos. You have made balanced, factual videos that have helped to inform me. I'm an expectant first time Dad. Mother is at 36 weeks. Thank you for not going with the usual TH-cam sensationalism. Very refreshing

This is so beautiful! Sitting here tearing up at 16 weeks pregnant haha. Love seeing both the medical side and "regular person" side of you both.. congratulations!!!
You do whatever feels best for you & baby in the moment. I just wanted to say, Ive had both & my unmediated births were so much more rewarding. I felt I had control of my body. No one had to tell me what was happening & recovery was a hundred times easier. However, the “ring of fire” does suck. Lol
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your experience. It means the world to so many women especially coming from a OBGYN.. It means alot to me as i prepare for the birth of my little one. Thank you.
The man does not DO anything to the woman. When they have intercourse, the man does not ejaculate a developed a Baby. He only ejaculates sperm. She then delivers the baby. The very important egg, in this whole equation, is fertilized by his sperm. The union of the two causes conception. She conceives in her womb. The baby grows in her womb . She is then pregnant. The man is never pregnant. But the husband often acts like a spoiled bsb C when his wife is pregnant and give birth. He tries to get everyone to feel sorry for him. He needs to fall back and let his wife be the woman. You know how you people, shame wives all the time and tell wives to not nag and let him be a man? Well it goes both ways. ..so now let us tell husbands to let her be the woman....and tell him to stop whining and nagging during her pregnancy and chilfbirth. Let your wife explain HER pregnancy and birth. Stop interrupting.
He did not do this to her. She got herself pregnant as a result of them having intercourse. She conceives. You people give men the wrong brag, the wrong credit. A man can not get a woman pregnant ..because the man does not ejaculate an already formed baby, into her womb. He Brings a sperm that's all, and she brings an egg. It is an act that is complete. Get some knowledge people.learn biology. Stop saying the same worn out sentence, that lies and that elevates s man, saying a man supposedly gets a woman pregnant. He does not . He can not.
Congratulations! I appreciate his honesty on her appearance becasue I've been looking at my baby's face in the ultrasound and I get it. People get mad if you don't right away say a baby is " cute." But honesty she is adorable! Thank you for both of your works.
Who doesn’t need a obgyn as a friend to hug you after she delivered your baby, I literally felt that friendship between the two of you, that 🥺was such a beautiful moment May God bless your beautiful family,💖💖💙

My husband loves that you make things easy to understand and I love your insight into the system now as a patient. Can't wait for the next one. Congratulations again.
I am 22 weeks pregnant and I cried when I saw your baby girl make her way into your arms for the first time, I can't wait to meet my baby boy and experience that moment myself!
I love how you share the perfect imperfections of being new parents. Remember it's worth every sleepless moment, every labor pain, the privilege we are given to be parents to a precious child are worth every moment of stress the little stinkers throw out direction. Just remember they don't come with care instructions and none of us are perfect.
Congrats! I'm expecting my 4th girl in less than 4 weeks. Epidurals are amazing and im in awe of those who do it without. My labors thankfully are quick, my first was 5 hours, second was 4 hours and third was 2.5 hours. Recovery also gets better with each one so I hope this one is quick and recovery is great.

I’m almost 38 weeks and this was awesome to watch ahead of what I have to expect. I don’t think my husband knows what to expect 😂 I started crying a little when she came out and started crying, what a beautiful journey
I’m currently 38w+1d and want to thank you. As I anxiously await my little girls arrival, you’ve helped ease my tensions so much. Just hearing that an OB/GYN elected for the epidural puts me at ease. I’ve been hellbent on doing this without meds and beating myself up for wanting the epidural as an option. You’ve completely lifted that nonsensical worry of mine! Also- hearing that a woman who happens to be an MD also has struggles breastfeeding. My last baby (10 years ago) was bf but I struggled and then got discouraged and switched to formula quickly. I thought I was the only one struggling. Wish I had more support back then. Glad I have that support now (my amazing husband) and also videos like yours that encourage me. Thank you thank you thank you! Congratulations on your little girl!
I just want to say you two are so awesome. Everyone is hating about social media but I think that channels like yours are absolutely priceless. It's like with food, we have access to junk food, we have access to real food, the choice is ours. Thank you so much for posting this. I know it's "old" (it's actually timeless because it becomes relevant to different people at different times) and maybe nobody will ever read this comment but still I wanted to say: thank you. Thank you for talking about the epidural. Thank you for talking about the feelings, it made me tear up, I also don't know how I'll be feeling. Thank you for talking about the difficulties and the humbling things you (even you!) didn't know or didn't expect. It's so empowering to hear that. I've rewatched this video a few times already and here watching it again as I'm mentally preparing for labor and facing my fears of both labor and what comes after. Bless you and THANK YOU
Wow. I’ve been watching these videos from you guys for a while now to prepare and I have to say the rawness of showing your delivery put me at so much ease. Like just seeing someone talk about and show us exactly what that moment looked like and felt like made this all seem less scary. I keep saying thank you but I honestly can’t thank you both enough for your channel. It’s just easing so much of my anxiety on my pregnancy journey. ❤

I loved labor and delivery in the early days of my career as an RN. The moment I met you two, the first thing I thought was what beautiful blue eyes you both have! And your daughter is going to be a little blue eyed doll! The last 18 years of my career I was an ob-gyn nurse practitioner and I looked forward to the 6 week post partum visit when ladies I had seen prenatally would bring the baby along. What a joy! you guys are SO CUTE. watching Kurt talk about bondng with his daughter: so sweet. i will be showing to my VERY competitive doctor partner just so he knows how high the bar has been set.
it really helps when everyone in the room is close to each other. Everyone being friends. Friends being there for the delivery when most people can’t even have their friends in the room. There’s a pediatrician which helps when the father is the pediatrician. It helps when the mother Is a gynecologist cause she knows what she’s doing but still might need a reminder every once in a while because she’s the patient at the moment. I’m really impressed by this. Because normally this doesn’t happen were the friends sister and the husband and everyone can be in the room.
Lol so funny when dad said "I thought she'd be cuter"... such honesty😅 I remember when I first met my nephew a few days old I thought he looked weird too and he had such long arms and legs.. ofcourse he grew into a handsome young man☺️
I am an OBGYN (25 years in with 3000 births). I love you guys! My daughter is 34 weeks pregnant- I have recommended she and her husband watch all your videos. I also plan to bring these videos to our medical groups attention - I think our patients will love them.
Thank you so much for this video. Detailed, calm, positive, no dramatizations of the pain, no shame or stigma about taking pain relief, informative and clear. I am giving birth for the first time in June and I definitely have a propensity towards overthinking, anxiety, and worrying about a low pain tolerance. But this video helped so so so so much. I’m going to watch this at least once every week. 😂
I’m now preggy for my first Baby and I’m really scared of how I will overcome this journey. But your videos makes me gain more confident and learning about how to be strong. Thank you soooo much. 😊
Welcome! I too am a FTM, and not gonna lie, the thought of giving birth crossed my mind at first and I was terrified. But yes, we’ve got people who’ve made videos like this that totally help. Get educated, read a few books. That’s what I’ve been doing, and you’ll be fine.
The little hunger cues she was showing in the side video of her at the time stamp @11:05 on this video was so adorable!! Some babies have the same hunger cues but do it slightly different and I love how it’s a natural, God given occurrence that babies just know how to do, it’s awesome! Babies, our little humans, are awesome!! EDIT: Breastfeeding is just different for everyone. It does take patience and lots of practice for baby and mother. If you get frustrated the baby will feel that and get frustrated also and vice versa. I was in the hospital for three days when I had my son, no one guided me or helped me with breastfeeding, it was much different 28 years ago then it is now. I was just expected to do it myself so that I did, I at least tried. After the colostrum I didn’t produce any milk and I had no idea my baby wasn’t getting fed. I’m forever grateful for my OB/GYN bc he’s the one that figured it out and told me that I had to put my baby on formula. It is okay when you can’t breastfeed for whatever the reason. I think it needs to be talked about more so that women won’t feel like bad mothers if they can’t breastfeed.
Congratulations on baby girl! Currently watching this 22nd weeks with our 1st baby, baby boy. Balling my eyes out watching your hubby talk about his experience. Can't wait to share this experience with my husband. We are so blessed and excited!
But pregnancy and birth are not about the dad. Yeah he keeps interrupting her. Wow, but childbirth is a woman's experience. We have got to stop trying to take away the experience of pregnancy and birth and Post delivery from the woman.
@@Kcorrr i dont think anything is being taken away from the woman's experience. But you can have your own opinion. My opinion is that when a baby is created by 2 individuals that love each other, they each are invested in the baby and the experience of bringing the baby into this world. I am a strong woman, but I believe I am even stronger with the support and love from my husband which makes me a better person and future Mom to our baby.

maternal morbidity and mortality has RISEN STEEPLY in the usa over the past two decades due to crazy overuse of inductions and c sections.
I agree many women have alot of knowledge on this subject. But is also space and need for the work we do. And I think this channel provides alot of good information.
@@wildaf9519 Why are you correcting her grammar especially capitalization? If your comment isn't grammatically correct? 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ Just saying!
@raquelleao
Keep up the good work! I like your kind, sincere, and positive comments 😊🙏🏼💞
My husband said when my first little girl his first baby was born " oh my God look her eye are open already" 😂he was raised in and on a farm 💕 bless your heart sweetheart. She's not a puppy.
So beautiful to see dad's emotions while holding his new baby!!
Just saw this and you’re a champ. Everything looked like it went very smoothly. 3 years later congrats 🎉
17 weeks along here and watching her come into the world and you guys meeting her for the first time. I am bawling! I cannot wait for this moment. Thank you for sharing!!
This is so beautiful! Sitting here tearing up at 16 weeks pregnant haha. Love seeing both the medical side and "regular person" side of you both.. congratulations!!!
Congrats im 19 weeks tomorrow :)
same here!! i’m 16 weeks 1 day! watching this like I CANT WAIT TILL NOVEMBER!!!
Awesome, congratulations! I’ve been leaning toward a non-medicated birth, but watching this made me want an epidural! So peaceful and joyful.
You do whatever feels best for you & baby in the moment. I just wanted to say, Ive had both & my unmediated births were so much more rewarding. I felt I had control of my body. No one had to tell me what was happening & recovery was a hundred times easier. However, the “ring of fire” does suck. Lol
I had two unmedicated births and would Not recommend it.
@@ashjankins960 same! Unmedicated for me. With the epidural, you miss out on a lot ❤
You guys are so humble and kind and it’s so nice to see from doctors in this field. Recently found out I’m pregnant and I’ve been loving your videos!
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your experience. It means the world to so many women especially coming from a OBGYN.. It means alot to me as i prepare for the birth of my little one. Thank you.
I wish I could pull my baby myself like what she did.. God is so amazing!
He sure is!
“He did this to you. I should get to hold the baby first.” 😂😂😂
The man does not DO anything to the woman.
@@Kcorrr Everyone knows that, it’s a joke. You seem like you’re fun at parties 😂
He did not do this to her. She got herself pregnant as a result of them having intercourse. She conceives.
You people give men the wrong brag, the wrong credit.
A man can not get a woman pregnant
..because the man does not ejaculate an already formed baby, into her womb. He Brings a sperm that's all, and she brings an egg. It is an act that is complete.
Get some knowledge people.learn biology. Stop saying the same worn out sentence, that lies and that elevates s man, saying a man supposedly gets a woman pregnant. He does not . He can not.
@@Kcorrr bro what is wrong with you…
@@Kcorrr bro relax & learn to take a joke
Congratulations! I appreciate his honesty on her appearance becasue I've been looking at my baby's face in the ultrasound and I get it. People get mad if you don't right away say a baby is " cute." But honesty she is adorable! Thank you for both of your works.
Who doesn’t need a obgyn as a friend to hug you after she delivered your baby, I literally felt that friendship between the two of you, that 🥺was such a beautiful moment May God bless your beautiful family,💖💖💙
Thank you so much. Blessings to you as well!! It was really a magical day and I am so thankful our sweet girl arrived safely. And it was extra fun to have one of my besties be there to catch her!!
11:22 when dad described the feeling…I am instantly tearing up! 24 weeks with baby number 2 and starting to mentally prepare for labor after a very rough first one that resulted in an emergency c section.
Congratulations! We are due in another 56 days (who's counting? Not us). As a half-physician couple (me physician, him fintech) we love your no nonsense and real videos. My husband loves that you make things easy to understand and I love your insight into the system now as a patient. Can't wait for the next one.
Congratulations again.
I’m watching this while in the hospital getting ready to have my baby boy ☺️
Wishing you a safe delivery☺️

Congratulations. Hope you have a safe delivery and healthy baby.
How is he?
Lucky u!!!😘
I am 22 weeks pregnant and I cried when I saw your baby girl make her way into your arms for the first time, I can't wait to meet my baby boy and experience that moment myself!
Me too! I’m right behind you by 2 weeks.
I’m so excited for you guys! I’m 22 weeks pregnant with my first child and your videos have been so helpful to me along this journey. Thank you so much for providing such great content and information!!
I love how sweet and humble you are. I love having doctors who are relatable down to earth people. I don’t like doctors who seem arrogant and can’t relate to the average person.
Aw thank you Heather. We are just average, normal people who have spent a lot of time in school/training lol and we love sharing that.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Seeing baby being born and getting delivered straight to mommy's arms is such a bliss. 26 weeks pregnant here, and hoping to have the same luck soon. Wishing all the hapiness to this beautiful family 💕
As a retired nurse it was my pleasure to listen to your video. Thank you for sharing. I chuckled a couple of times. I think it's awesome that as Dr.s you are sharing & admit something's are not easy. Your precious daughter is adorable. Enjoy this time as it goes quickly. I am a new sub & excited to follow your journey.. may God bless your family with many wonderful memories.
Congratulations on a very beautiful birthing story doctors! 🎉
I'm 37 weeks now and waiting to meet our baby boy, exciting times! I cried seeing your baby come out.
Your family is an inspiration 😊 keep safe always 💕
Please talk more about breastfeeding. All the information you have learned.
Yes pleaseee
I love how supportive you are of each other. Congratulations 🎊 to you both. ❤
I’m almost 38 weeks and this was awesome to watch ahead of what I have to expect. I don’t think my husband knows what to expect 😂 I started crying a little when she came out and started crying, what a beautiful journey
I find it so beautiful that your sister was able to help catch your baby!!! Priceless!
I love your videos!!!! I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant and in the era of influencers, the open and honest information/tips you’re providing as doctors is invaluable. Congrats on your baby!!! Looking forward to your postpartum tips ❤️🙏🏾
I love your honesty, especially as it goes to show that all new parents have a learning curve…whether doctors or not lol. You guys are great! Congrats! She is beautiful ❤️
Such a heartwarming video! Thank you so much for sharing. I am myself in the middle of 12th week and it was such a joy to watch this - I've cried and laughed and smiled through the whole video and I can't wait to meet my little one next year ❤️
As an experienced mom of 9 I am glad you have had the blessing of having a child of your own. You both will be more effective specialists in your fields. I feel like there was alot more common sense parenting 30 years ago when we started our family....
I can't thank you both enough for sharing your birth journey with us. as a partner, one of my biggest concerns is making sure that my wife feels heavily supported and encouraged and listening to your knowledge has helped me tremendously to have a better understanding of what to do, expect, things to ask, etc.😀
What a beautiful story and the fact that you guys are Dr's makes it ao much more heartwarming and beautiful! I literally couldn't stop crying since the part of the photo before little girl was born! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ soooo beautiful to see everything and all of the emotions pour out! Soooo wholesome 😇😊

"I was not having a fun time" i am so happy to find a video that isn't a TH-cam glamor video on how labor and delivery went. Full face makeup, we all know thats not how it goes. Its refreshing to see what i feel like is more relatable to what will happen. All while answering and discussing what happened and how. Thank u!!!
I'm so happy when i found your channel, pregnant with my 1st, 29 weeks currently and i feel like after follow all your video, I'm ready ❤️

Thank you! I am so excited for you to meet your little girl--those 8 weeks are going to fly by! And yes lol, be prepared, you may not think she's super adorable right away, but you will still love her more than anything!!!
Thanks for sharing your journey! I had my first one over 17 years ago. We have been going through IVF for a year and half now, and fortunately have a successful transfer the second time, we are now little over 5 weeks pregnant.
Beautiful video of how teamwork can make the work so much lighter. Stunning photos too. Especially at 16:16
What an authentic video. Thank you all for sharing your journey and keep up the great work. My wife is 32wks today so I have been watching u guys video on how to take care of this little nugget when she arrives.❤️
My husband is like you/ yours & they are rare to come by! I'm so blessed. I feel so sorry for all the single moms having to raise a child alone, but especially a newborn! Even with his support it was HARD!
You are both humble, amazing and dedicated doctors. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Really very full of emotions, I had tears to watch and live these moments with you !
Dying when you said your first thought was that she was kind of ugly….😂😂😂😂 just speaking the truth. She’s so sweet and watching this video was the cutest. Thanks for sharing with everyone. Such a special moment.
This is so sweet. I love that she sleeps on your side of the bed and you wake up and join in on the feedings. I know my fiancé will not be doing this but it brought tears to my eyes that you work as a family to do night feedings ❤. Thank GOD I have my mom 😂
I am an NNP and I'm getting induced on Sunday and it's great to see this as someone who also sees a lot of births. You made me feel reassured. 😀
why am I crying so much!! I am currently 26 weeks pregnant & this was such a informative video. Thank you!
I just had my boy last Wednesday on the 19th! Congratulations
Congratulations Darling! I have to wait till end of December 💪

Thank you guys so much for sharing. I am 4.5 weeks so your journey is helping so much in my own journey! God bless you guys and your beautiful girl!
Would you please make a video about pushing? Watching you push was incredible. No fear, full of joy, and very effective. I’m expecting a baby now and I was so inspired by your pushing technique. Hope you can make a video on the subject.
Thanks for all your videos. I’ve learned a lot.
What a joy! I am subscribing to your channel at once.

I am 30 weeks and it is magical to watch. Pregnant with our first babygirl, I found your channel with the hospital hag video and I'm here to stay. I probably will be induced at 38w due to baby having cpam in the left lung she's doing better thank God. I am so nervous and omg you made it seem so easy compared to other delivery videos🤣 congrats to your little family guys 👨👩👧💕
Jessenia!! I am so glad you found us! Congrats on your little babe. We will be sending all of the good vibes for a smooth labor for you and an amazing team to take care of you and your little one. CPAM is a scary diagnosis so we will be praying that she is a strong little fighter!! I actually have a friend who just had a baby boy with CPAM and after a few weeks in the NICU they are home doing great. Will hope your daughter's course is similar. Keep us posted!!

thank you both for all the tips u give us I'm currently 27 weeks with 2 days and soon I will need all this tips . love how humble you both are.. thank you I appreciate it. also congratulations and your bundle of joy.
Congratulations! Breastfeeding is so much harder than you think it's going to be! I regret not going to a lactation consultant earlier - she helped me fix the latch and work on some different holds that helped us nurse past his first birthday.
Idk if it’s the pregnancy hormones, but I definitely cried watching this!!😭😭
you guys are SO CUTE. watching Kurt talk about bondng with his daughter: so sweet. i will be showing to my VERY competitive doctor partner just so he knows how high the bar has been set.
I so love how the two of you look at each other in your TH-cam video clips.
it really helps when everyone in the room is close to each other.
Lol so funny when dad said "I thought she'd be cuter"... such honesty😅 I remember when I first met my nephew a few days old I thought he looked weird too and he had such long arms and legs.. ofcourse he grew into a handsome young man☺️
That was the chillest birth ever
I am an OBGYN (25 years in with 3000 births). I love you guys! My daughter is 34 weeks pregnant- I have recommended she and her husband watch all your videos. I also plan to bring these videos to our medical groups attention - I think our patients will love them.
Props and shoutouts to the skilled nurse!!
Ps: 14:15 - this photo is just beautiful 🤍
31 weeks and I cannot watch this without sobbing! Congrats!🎉
That is the most easy going and painless looking birth I’ve ever seen lol
Same here. FTM and 33 weeks. Scared but super excited!
Im only 7 weeks and high risk for misscariage and all sorts of complications and still watching this video with joy☀️
I hope you’ll make it till the end safe you and your baby

You may need your husband to get you through your pregnancy, Labor, delivery, and Postpartum health. But not all women want their husband in her room and every woman does not have husband support
. Some women get through those times with the Help of female, , like her mother or sister, or best friend.
Lots of women don't want the husband anywhere near her.
I’m due for a c section in 6 days and when your baby girl came out I could not stop crying! What a beautiful experience for you all, and thank you so much for taking us along. So glad everything worked out with no complications. Best to you guys, love your videos! ❤️
Hoping everything went well!!!
@@ItsPeij Thank you so much! Baby and I are at home and doing well! The funny thing is I was not crying at my own delivery- I think my adrenaline of being in the operating room getting the c section overcame me! But once my baby was in my arms and we were safely rolled out to the recovery room I just couldn’t help but think what a little miracle he is… thank you again for your kind words! 🥰
Tears in my eyes while watching this video ! I’m glad that both of you look better than the last video ! Best wishes to all the three !
I also thought my newborn was ugly in the first hour of birth haha - I’ve never admitted that aloud! Then, it was all 😍😍😍
Mine had me so sick the whole pregnancy I could barely eat. So when he was born, he didn't have any baby fat on his body, at all. My first impression was He was kinda creepy looking at first. So that was my first thought about mine. :)
He's healthy looking now. He eat a lot as soon as he was out.
The vernix is always super gross to me. Nervous I’ll feel like throwing up or my husband won’t want to get it on his clothes cause he’s a neat freak lol. 😅
Thanks for sharing! This has completely transformed my understanding of delivery...I've always imagined it to be a horrific and chaotic scene but yours was so peaceful. I know it's a couple months late, but congratulations!
