    I absolutely love your videos I think I’ve watched all of them, you’re so inspirational to not just me but many others that also want to go into the medical field. I am here for you all the way and thank you for giving us so much advice. My parents always tell me to go for what I want however I don’t think they’ve encouraged me enough and made me feel like i could go beyond my potential, I’m currently going to school to be a cna, I’m a junior in high school and even that is hard haha, thank you for making me realize what I actually want to do, can’t wait for you to become a doctor!!

    Thank you Rachel that was so intriguing and useful to me! I’m in 11th grade and considering this path in life. What advice do you have for people like me who are young but thinking about medical school??

    Thanks for the great video I definitely agree with the advice regarding self reflection. I feel that that is something many of us don't do enough unfortunately. Getting to the "why" is so very important during the application process and even to keep you motivated when the going gets tough in med school. Thanks for giving back to the community!.
    Hey guys, I know this is a difficult process, but it is one hundred percent doable. When I was in your shoes as a premed I had many issues writing my personal statement and getting my application together. Looking back on it as a 4th year med student, I made a ton of mistakes that I could have avoided with more research on the process. I hope I can help you prevent some of those mistakes while building your application too. I recently put up a video up on my channel going into a few tips to write a stronger personal statement for medical school. I hope this helps provide some of you guys with more direction. Feel free to check it out. Remember everyone, you can do this just keep going. Eventually you will succeed. Wishing you all the best of luck.

      Ken hub has some great video tutorials that show much of the major muscles. For me, I am an avid gym goer and I made it a habit to focus on each muscle I was working on and actively added it into my vocabulary and sort of sound like a huge nerd when someone asked what I was doing but hey, it helped me.

      Something that helped me understand the locations of muscles is: print out a picture of a skeleton, put it inside a laminating sheet so nothing sticks to it, and take different colors of modeling clay and roll them into muscles and lay them on the skeleton where they are located. It especially helps to understand the layers of muscles because you can see a 3D version of the clay muscles layering on top of each other.

    I really hope this doesn’t sound rude but you mentioned you started medical school at the age of 25 does this mean you started medical school a little late or is this usually the age when students start? If you read this can you tell me how old you were when you started community college? Again I don’t mean for this to sound rude in a any way and remember you will reach your goal one day and all the stress and tears would be for something. ❤️🐜

    • @RachelSouthard
      @RachelSouthard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not late. There’s really no “late” to starting med school. I have classmates that are older and younger. Age doesn’t matter in your process. Just get to where you want to be, don’t let that deter you.

    • @yulianagarcia7454
      @yulianagarcia7454 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RachelSouthard I guess I just considered it a lil late cuz I’ve always had my life planned out and always believed I was gonna finish college at 22 and finish med school 26 and become a surgeon around my 30s depending on the specialty. I’m still really young and the journey to become a surgeon still seems very very long but your videos have definitely helped understand what I should do and what to expect. So thank you for everything you do for us I really can’t explain how helpful you have been and I hope the best for you in your journey to reach your goal just know when you do reach it it’ll be the best feeling in the world. ❤️🐜

    Hi! Do you think, through personal experience, that majoring in pre-med during undergrad is more convenient than majoring in something more specific like biochem or molecular bio in terms of medical school curriculum? Thank you!

    I have a quick question. I'm looking at a possible PhD Program after I get my MA in a couple years. The school wants to know what research experience I have (which I don't have any and probably won't when I apply). However, there is a specific area in Genetics (the program is a predoctoral program in Human Genetics). And I know for a fact 2 faculty members are researching this specific syndrome I am interested in doing research on. So although it asks what research experience I have would that be an opportunity to discuss my interest in doing research on that syndrome?
