My mother has zero hearing without hearing aids. She has the Oticon bte and she can hear so well that even the audiologist is amazed. At times I feel she hears better than me and I have loss too.
I recently acquired the Oticon More IMNRT 1 minirite model hearing aids and they are incredible! By far and way, the BEST sounding hearing technology I’ve ever heard. The Bluetooth capabilities are fantastic too. I get mine from the great people at Lambton Audilogy Associates in Sarnia, Canada. They changed my life.
Thank you for the information in this great video! Currently wearing Phonak Naida V (vee) SP. These are almost 6yrs old and definitely need replacing. Have severe-to-profound, mixed type, bilateral loss so reliable hearing aids with quality sound processing are important. The hardest part is finding an audiologist that is savvy enough to understand and keep up with all the new technology. Also, in regard to your video, it is great, but please cut down on the sound effects. They are much louder than the voice portion and can be startling (and quite annoying).

I used to joke (though I'm somewhat serious) that TV commercials for hearing aids have always contained muffled dialogue, just to trick you into thinking you have poor hearing.

This video while very informative confused me in many ways. I am partial to videos that do a comparison of all the hearing aids and place them in order of best to worst for the price. I would also like to hear what the audiologist thinks is his most popular in terms of what he sells the most of to his clients. Also...Which hearing aid do his clients gravitate to and which ones do they gravitate away from after the trial period.I would love to see a comparison between a Phonak life and the Oticon more 1.

Hi, I am in the process of getting my first hearing aids and I am extremely confused. I first went to a hearing aid center and the specialist recommended a Oticon More One. I went to an actual audiologist and he recommends Resound One. I also went to Costco since they are often cheaper and the specialist there said that it did not make that much difference which hearing aid I got so long as it is in the premium class. All 3 gave me extensive hearing tests and the audiometry results are pretty similar for all 3 tests. So what the hell do I do? LOL
Hey Dario That's a great question and it looks like you're doing the right thing by doing your research first! Its hard to advise further without knowing your audiological profile, but worth trialing a couple of different hearing aids. Excellent information. I just did a trial of the Phonak Audeo Liveable, but sadly gave them back because without a Telecoil, these were a deal breaker. I need the expanded fitting range of the Naidia, but I want the waterproof shell. When will this model be available?

I recently switched to the phonak lyric 4+ months ago. I've had some success with it but they need to enhance db range loss down to 0db to 5db. I wish the monthly subscription cost was cheaper as well I was victim of a hate crime and had my ear drums blown out by 3 co-workers of a different race after being invited out to a bar then a home as they locked me in a basement for 20 minutes while 150 decibel music was blasted.
I'm waiting for a manufacturer to release a range whereby the wearer has complete access to the software, after all, who better than the user to fine-tune the devices?
Your review is so comprehensive that it makes it impossible for me to choose which one I should try as they all seem to be terrific and some have more useful features (to me) than others. I am currently trying the Oticon More with a power 85 molded dome and am finding them significantly better than my three year old Oticon Opn aids. But your info suggests that I may find the Phonak model better. Is it?

Hi Shaun. Thank you for the great comment! That's a big ask with today's tech, and sadly something will have to give. The smallest in the ear hearing aid with bluetooth at present is Resound's Quattro CIC. However they aren't rechargeable. Starkey will have their Evolve CIC soon, for which they are currently awaiting approval to release the bluetooth version, but again it is a battery version only. I hope that this helps, Matthew

Somewhat misleading regarding Bluetooth. Those that claim Android compatibility are only compatible with SOME Android phones. They need to be ASHA compatible. Even Phonak needs to be compatible with BT 4.2. Phone/hearing aid compatibility continues to be an issue as is clear on the Hearing Tracker forum.

Hi, I have a mild loss hearing but moderate to severe tinnitus, if budget wouldn't be a problem which device would you recommend? I have seen all your videos but I would like your responses on this one. Im 45 years. I tried the EARGO Neo fi, but I returned because it make me feel anxiety due to the lack of further adjustment, I was hearing a lot and couldn't control the amount of noise going into my ears.

I have the phonak cros system. I also have an Android smartphone with Bluetooth installed. My phone will not pair with my hearing aids, the audiologist installed the app and tried. But it wouldn't work. I got so frustrated I uninstalled the app. I tried to make a phone call yesterday. It was a nightmare. I ended up taking my hearing aid out to use my phone. I also can't change the battery by myself. I am so scared I will break the battery door by force. I can't handle being able to hear people breathing and even eating. It's disgusting and over whelming. I do have a severe hearing loss, all I want is hearing aids so that I can hear. I do not need Bluetooth and other stuff I will struggle to use.i shouldn't need to have a computer science degree to use them. I'm not happy.
Hey Susan Im so sorry to hear your frustrations. These are all things that you should be able to discuss with your audiologist and they should find the best solution for your hearing profile and the phone that you have. The world of audiology used to be limited to a single manufacturer that had a CROS setup but now all of the manufacturers have one so there is 100% a solution out there for you! I have an appointment with my audiologist tomorrow. I don't want my hearing aids anymore. I can't even change the batteries by myself. I'm so terrified they are going to fall out of my ears and get lost, or I will break them by stepping on them. I wished I hadn't even started this journey. At least I can get a refund and pay my son back, he kindly paid for them for me
A solution has been found, these are too advanced for me. Some of the problem was also the audiologist too, I was made to feel like scum. She never explained anything. And she also acted as if she didn't know what she was doing. I was finally able to see my regular audiologist, she wasn't happy with the treatment I was given. I am now getting rechargeable aids with moulds. And they will be very similar to my old ones, phonak Naida. And I will also have a remote with them
There are only five manufacturer’s no wonder hearing aids are so expensive and out of range for most people who need them . They should be third of the price and could be and will be in the future when more manufacturers are approved by governments. It’s a closed shop that needs to be opened

Hearing aids will be available in the future at similar prices as spectacles which also used to be a closed shop for greedy suppliers and manufacturers

Matthew, thanks, just wondering if you have a suggestion for me-unable to leave anything in the ear canal without getting a horrible headache that lasts for days. Even House Ear Clinic in LA was unable to help, but that was several years ago. (They tried hearing aids with tiny holes in them.) I keep looking for something that would perhaps use bone conduction-any suggestions?

@@HearingTracker having normal hearing, and being a HCP. I've tried on and listened to all the brands top models. and they all sound like you are on a mic and speaker system, however the AX's easily sounded the most "natural" least amount of mic and speaker sounding, and that was without even running the Own Voice Processor, which with many of my patients over the last year, have said the OVP has made a tremendous difference to them. Maybe with normal hearing it is hard for me to tell any improvement with OVP. *for reference i programmed every hearing aid the same with with a 30db Flat loss. and the same tulip/vented tips were used on each hearing aid (not each brands version of a vented tip.)

Is there a particular brand, style, or technology that is generally recommended for a fairly mild case of hearing loss ? My profile is fairly flat at about 15-25 dB up thru about 1.250KHz at which point both ears drop off to 75 dB at 8k (left), or 60 db at 8K (rt). Plus I'm a musician (choir director). 1) is pursuing a higher number of channels over kill in this situation and 2) is a receiver in the ear type not appropriate probably? thanks -- great videos sir...

Honestly, I think this is a misleading title. No where do you evaluate one vs, the other to determine best. Nowhere do you create a criteria for what is the best. Disappointing. You just read the ads about what is new in each product and smile that big "TH-cam audiologist" smile. Which one is best? Who knows? Not me.
You can adjust the speed in TH-cam. Tap three dots upper right corner on the video. Drop down menu offer speed. Adjust to .75 or .50 for the video to slow down. A great help understanding.
Feeling Tired of Resound HA.... Resound ( India ) perhaps does not care about the problems faced by its customers & does not have faith in their feedback. My son has used many HA since 30 years. This is first time that he is using Resound HA - Quattro 7 RIC but feeling frustrated on response of Resound. Left Quattro 7 HA having multiple problems - has been sent for repairs to their Mumbai office 4 timed in last 3 months but issues falling on deaf ears.Delay in service is acceptable but not casual response of company like Resound. No body from their Social Media team seems to be worried / concerned about the problems being faced.

Tried the new updated model you reviewed but could see no real advantage. Every day is a struggle and meetings and social functions are very difficult. Have you found any Brand where the clarity is any better?
@@HearingTracker With rechargeables when they start to get lower on charge, later in the day, they tend to loose connection with my Apple devises such as iPhone, iPad which is very annoying and of course are more to deal with if you are away from home over night or on a long trip.

I am probably most excited about (and in no particular order) the Resound, Signia and Oticon hearing aids. Widex is probably 4th on the list as it doesn't really seem as impressive as the other. Phonak and Starkey are last, with Phonak making the worst of the lot to me. As a reminder, I am probably interested in all 3 of my top selections equally. 1. Resoud, in all honesty, makes me nervous. The reason behind this, I currently own Resound, although they were paid for by the state about 4 years ago due to low income at the time. My choices were limited to Oticon or Resound. I was able to test them both before deciding Resound helped me more. Thinking back on it, I probably should have gone with Oticon as Resound went bad quickly. Despite constant visits to the audiologist for adjustments, my Resounds would just keep randomly generating feedback, or the settings would stop working as they were supposed to. I have basically been ready for new hearing aids for a while. That being said, I am still a bit excited about the Resound one, specifically the M&RIE part. I had someone tell me that it likely wouldn't be powerful enough for me since I have a profound hearing loss. I don't know how true this is because I haven't been able to find anyone who knows enough about the M&RIE and have a proper discussion about it. 2. Oticon. Despite what I said about the previous Oticon I tried, I am interested in the Oticon More. The DNN and Moresound Intelligence, of which I found more on in a previous video of yours, sounds attractive. The question is, who determines what sounds I may or may not be interested in hearing? The idea is great, but the application? Who knows? 3. Signia. I have done research on some Signia hearing aids and I probably find them to be the most attractive, in terms of usefulness. The rechargeable battery doesn't really matter to me either way, but the AX is looking nice. I had looked into the Pure 13 Nx and 312 Nx before I saw the AX. They look like something that would benefit me. If you added M&RIE to the Signia, they would probably be on the top of my list. I actually have an appointment soon and I had already decided to talk about these 3 brands. 4. Widex. I was interested in Widex when I first saw them, but the more I read, the less I am interested. I wouldn't rule them out though, as they do seem impressive enough. 5. Starkey. I have 2 major issues with Starkey. The first is that their website makes it hard to find and TRUE useful information about the hearing aids. Can I use them? Who knows? They don't provide information on hearing types. The second issue is that the website is directed only at older people. There was a questionnaire/survey on their website to allow me to try to determine what hearing aids would be best for me. Every question was something about seeing just how old and fragile I am. Can I push small buttons? What kind of floors do I slip on? etc. Seriously? Not even 40 yet and I've worn hearing aids my entire life, but you can't even consider people like me? 6. Phonak. Last on the list is Phonak, and that is because they never work as well as they claim. Noise reduction tends to be in the form of cutting off all sound to "protect" my hearing. Really? A little wind isn't going to make me deaf. I mean, I'm already there dude! The Nadia that I am testing out gives a lot of robotic sounds and the bluetooth will randomly connect to devices I have connected to before. I've had too many issues with Phonak that I will probably never go back to them again.

I recently switched to the phonak lyric 4+ months ago. I've had some success with it but they need to enhance db range loss down to 0db to 5db. I wish the monthly subscription cost was cheaper as well
I was victim of a hate crime and had my ear drums blown out by 3 co-workers of a different race after being invited out to a bar then a home as they locked me in a basement for 20 minutes while 150 decibel music was blasted.

I am currently trying the Oticon More with a power 85 molded dome and am finding them significantly better than my three year old Oticon Opn aids. But your info suggests that I may find the Phonak model better. Is it?

That's a big ask with today's tech, and sadly something will have to give. The smallest in the ear hearing aid with bluetooth at present is Resound's Quattro CIC. However they aren't rechargeable. Starkey will have their Evolve CIC soon, for which they are currently awaiting approval to release the bluetooth version, but again it is a battery version only. I hope that this helps, Matthew

How does the Phonak hearing aid support bidirectional audio with an iOS device, they do not participate in the MFi Program?

Somewhat misleading regarding Bluetooth. Those that claim Android compatibility are only compatible with SOME Android phones. They need to be ASHA compatible. Even Phonak needs to be compatible with BT 4.2. Phone/hearing aid compatibility continues to be an issue as is clear on the Hearing Tracker forum.

Hi, I have a mild loss hearing but moderate to severe tinnitus, if budget wouldn't be a problem which device would you recommend? I have seen all your videos but I would like your responses on this one. Im 45 years. I tried the EARGO Neo fi, but I returned because it make me feel anxiety due to the lack of further adjustment, I was hearing a lot and couldn't control the amount of noise going into my ears.

I have the phonak cros system. I also have an Android smartphone with Bluetooth installed. My phone will not pair with my hearing aids, the audiologist installed the app and tried. But it wouldn't work. I got so frustrated I uninstalled the app. I tried to make a phone call yesterday. It was a nightmare. I ended up taking my hearing aid out to use my phone. I also can't change the battery by myself. I am so scared I will break the battery door by force. I can't handle being able to hear people breathing and even eating. It's disgusting and over whelming. I do have a severe hearing loss, all I want is hearing aids so that I can hear. I do not need Bluetooth and other stuff I will struggle to use.i shouldn't need to have a computer science degree to use them. I'm not happy.

These are all things that you should be able to discuss with your audiologist and they should find the best solution for your hearing profile and the phone that you have. The world of audiology used to be limited to a single manufacturer that had a CROS setup but now all of the manufacturers have one so there is 100% a solution out there for you! I have an appointment with my audiologist tomorrow. I don't want my hearing aids anymore. I can't even change the batteries by myself. I'm so terrified they are going to fall out of my ears and get lost, or I will break them by stepping on them. I wished I hadn't even started this journey. At least I can get a refund and pay my son back, he kindly paid for them for me
A solution has been found, these are too advanced for me. Some of the problem was also the audiologist too, I was made to feel like scum. She never explained anything. And she also acted as if she didn't know what she was doing.
I was finally able to see my regular audiologist, she wasn't happy with the treatment I was given. I am now getting rechargeable aids with moulds. And they will be very similar to my old ones, phonak Naida. And I will also have a remote with them
Hi, I had similar issues for Oricon opn. I found iPhone better to connect to them.
There are only five manufacturer’s no wonder hearing aids are so expensive and out of range for most people who need them . They should be third of the price and could be and will be in the future when more manufacturers are approved by governments. It’s a closed shop that needs to be opened

The closed shop has been opened and you can thank Trump for forcing America’s FDA into looking at why consumer electronics firms cannot supply medical grade hearing aids. Hearing aids will be available in the future at similar prices as spectacles which also used to be a closed shop for greedy suppliers and manufacturers

Matthew, thanks, just wondering if you have a suggestion for me-unable to leave anything in the ear canal without getting a horrible headache that lasts for days. Even House Ear Clinic in LA was unable to help, but that was several years ago. (They tried hearing aids with tiny holes in them.) I keep looking for something that would perhaps use bone conduction-any suggestions?

@@HearingTracker having normal hearing, and being a HCP. I've tried on and listened to all the brands top models. and they all sound like you are on a mic and speaker system, however the AX's easily sounded the most "natural" least amount of mic and speaker sounding, and that was without even running the Own Voice Processor, which with many of my patients over the last year, have said the OVP has made a tremendous difference to them. Maybe with normal hearing it is hard for me to tell any improvement with OVP.
*for reference i programmed every hearing aid the same with with a 30db Flat loss. and the same tulip/vented tips were used on each hearing aid (not each brands version of a vented tip.)

Is there a particular brand, style, or technology that is generally recommended for a fairly mild case of hearing loss ? My profile is fairly flat at about 15-25 dB up thru about 1.250KHz at which point both ears drop off to 75 dB at 8k (left), or 60 db at 8K (rt). Plus I'm a musician (choir director). 1) is pursuing a higher number of channels over kill in this situation and 2) is a receiver in the ear type not appropriate probably? thanks -- great videos sir...

You can adjust the speed in TH-cam. Tap three dots upper right corner on the video. Drop down menu offer speed. Adjust to .75 or .50 for the video to slow down. A great help understanding.

Feeling Tired of Resound HA.... Resound ( India ) perhaps does not care about the problems faced by its customers & does not have faith in their feedback. My son has used many HA since 30 years. This is first time that he is using Resound HA - Quattro 7 RIC but feeling frustrated on response of Resound. Left Quattro 7 HA having multiple problems - has been sent for repairs to their Mumbai office 4 timed in last 3 months but issues falling on deaf ears.Delay in service is acceptable but not casual response of company like Resound.
No body from their Social Media team seems to be worried / concerned about the problems being faced.

@@HearingTracker I have profound hearing loss and though I am uaseing Oticon S1s the volume is there but not the clarity. It is a real struggle. I went with what I felt was the best. Tried the new updated model you reviewed but could see no real advantage. Every day is a struggle and meetings and social functions are very difficult. Have you found any Brand where the clarity is any better?
@@HearingTracker With rechargeables when they start to get lower on charge, later in the day, they tend to loose connection with my Apple devises such as iPhone, iPad which is very annoying and of course are more to deal with if you are away from home over night or on a long trip.

I am probably most excited about (and in no particular order) the Resound, Signia and Oticon hearing aids. Widex is probably 4th on the list as it doesn't really seem as impressive as the other. Phonak and Starkey are last, with Phonak making the worst of the lot to me. As a reminder, I am probably interested in all 3 of my top selections equally.
1. Resoud, in all honesty, makes me nervous. The reason behind this, I currently own Resound, although they were paid for by the state about 4 years ago due to low income at the time. My choices were limited to Oticon or Resound. I was able to test them both before deciding Resound helped me more. Thinking back on it, I probably should have gone with Oticon as Resound went bad quickly. Despite constant visits to the audiologist for adjustments, my Resounds would just keep randomly generating feedback, or the settings would stop working as they were supposed to. I have basically been ready for new hearing aids for a while.
That being said, I am still a bit excited about the Resound one, specifically the M&RIE part. I had someone tell me that it likely wouldn't be powerful enough for me since I have a profound hearing loss. I don't know how true this is because I haven't been able to find anyone who knows enough about the M&RIE and have a proper discussion about it.
2. Oticon. Despite what I said about the previous Oticon I tried, I am interested in the Oticon More. The DNN and Moresound Intelligence, of which I found more on in a previous video of yours, sounds attractive. The question is, who determines what sounds I may or may not be interested in hearing? The idea is great, but the application? Who knows?
3. Signia. I have done research on some Signia hearing aids and I probably find them to be the most attractive, in terms of usefulness. The rechargeable battery doesn't really matter to me either way, but the AX is looking nice. I had looked into the Pure 13 Nx and 312 Nx before I saw the AX. They look like something that would benefit me. If you added M&RIE to the Signia, they would probably be on the top of my list.
I actually have an appointment soon and I had already decided to talk about these 3 brands.
4. Widex. I was interested in Widex when I first saw them, but the more I read, the less I am interested. I wouldn't rule them out though, as they do seem impressive enough.
5. Starkey. I have 2 major issues with Starkey. The first is that their website makes it hard to find and TRUE useful information about the hearing aids. Can I use them? Who knows? They don't provide information on hearing types. The second issue is that the website is directed only at older people. There was a questionnaire/survey on their website to allow me to try to determine what hearing aids would be best for me. Every question was something about seeing just how old and fragile I am. Can I push small buttons? What kind of floors do I slip on? etc. Seriously? Not even 40 yet and I've worn hearing aids my entire life, but you can't even consider people like me?
6. Phonak. Last on the list is Phonak, and that is because they never work as well as they claim. Noise reduction tends to be in the form of cutting off all sound to "protect" my hearing. Really? A little wind isn't going to make me deaf. I mean, I'm already there dude! The Nadia that I am testing out gives a lot of robotic sounds and the bluetooth will randomly connect to devices I have connected to before. I've had too many issues with Phonak that I will probably never go back to them again.
