- How to video on replacing the brake booster on a 2011 - 2014 Hyundai Sonata or a 2011 - 2015 Kia Optima. Symptoms of a failed brake booster: 1. More pressure on the brake pedal to slow down / stop. 2. Need more distance to stop. 3. ABS light possibly coming on. 4. Continuous drop in brake fluid reservoir indicating the master cylinder is leaking into the booster corrupting the booster seal. 5. No difference in brake pedal pressure with or without the engine running (since the booster needs vacuum from a running engine to work).
Aside from having a metric 3/8" socket wrench and socket tool set, no other specialty tools required.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2014 forte. Process is the same
Glad it helped!
Great video, no bs! Very informative.
Glad you liked it!
Tight quarters but you make it look easy, thank you 🙏
You're welcome!
Great video and detail . Very helpful
Thanks!
The brake fluid reservoir looks empty. Did you drain it before starting this replacement process?
Nope. Not necessary.
Thank Dude, I'll use it as a procedure , what problem had your booster ; how long time did you take for the entire replacement ?
Thanks! Around 40 minutes tops. Too much pressure on the brake pedal to stop the car.
@@hardlymovingpro OK I think with a manual wrench (not electrical as you have) seems I'll take more
I have a 2009 Kia Optima. Do you know if the process would be similar?
Should be very similar.
@@hardlymovingpro thank you so much! I am going to attempt to fix mine tomorrow. It only seems to malfunction when it’s extremely hot outside.
THANKS! HOPEFULLY THIS WORKS FOR MY GENESIS !😢
Good luck!
Do we have to bleed at all?
Not at all. The brake master cylinder, fluid wise, remains intact.
Hi if this brake booster is bad can it cause a vacuum leak??I own same car turbo engine and I've been having lean condition when I'm at stop light and my braking has been greatly reduced I feel like you said practically have to stand on it to stop.
Yes. Also, check for any possible leaks with the vacuum line attached to the brake booster. You can spray with a brake clean aerosol can. If the rpm's go up, you've found your leak.
@@hardlymovingpro Thank you for your response, yes I tried spraying brake cleaner on that hose but it's good it's not leaking I do think it's the brake booster I can also hear a vacuum/hissing noise while accelerating and that's when I feel car is underpowered. And also great video I'm going to use it to replace booster myself Thank you very much.
@@JoseSandoval-ic5xe you bet and good luck!

Hi sorry forgot to ask if the gasket that is behind the booster, does it need to be replaced also?? thank you
@@JoseSandoval-ic5xedid this solve your issue? I’m having the same problem
What size sockets you used for the brake booster
12 and 14 mm
@@hardlymovingpro hey how was you able to to put the master cylinder through the holes
You lucky man, if you didn’t bend those lines lol
They're designed to give a little.

Failed to mention sub model and engine size. Instant dislike👎🏽
Sorry ... not a substitute for a formal repair manual.
