  • Following up from the previous video of the build. We start and mostly finish the new old rear axle of the go kart. Because I reused the old parts off the old frame, it made the axle instal a breeze. While editing the video the audio cut out because of the engine, so no need to panic about the lost audio.
    Rear Axle specs:
    44 inch long 1/4 inch keyed axle
    4 on 4 hubs with a 1/4 inch keyway
    48 tooth sprocket and hub kit
    4 bolt brake hub
    1 inch pillow bearings
    1 inch lock collars
    18X8.5-8 tires with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern
    1/4 X 12 inch key stock

    If I may make suggestion, the use of angle iron welded to the tobingfor your bearings on the live axle would lend it a bit more strength due to the drilled mount holes.

    Question regarding pillow blocks. How do you know what size hole to drill for the pillow blocks? The mounting holes in the pillow block are oval shaped so do you need to use a bolt that is as wide as the hole? Or just a reasonably large bolt that will hold the pillow block with a washer? I am confused on that as I have my live axle ready to bolt to my frame now

    • @robsshop8704
      @robsshop8704  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll need a bolt that will fit in the pillow. The holes are oval so you can adjust them so the axle is straight. Some bearing blocks do have different sized holes as well so I would find a good strong bolt that’ll fit, for the hole i would find the diameter for the bolt threads and go one size bigger. My advice would be to get a square so you can position the axle and mark the holes as straight as possible.

    Is this a 1 inch axle? How do the 4 bolt hubs stay on?

    Where did you find a 428 clutch for your 428 chain and rear sprocket? That's a 428 sprocket I believe? Finding a 428 clutch has been tough.

    Brother, I need your help. I'm trying to make an electric scooter trike. Using this type of rear axle assembly. So are you using 3/4" or 1" axle? Also where did you get the hubs and sprocket / rotor adapters?

      @HopeIsAlliGot ปีที่แล้ว

      Why don’t you try it making yourself. For hubs get a plate with holes welded on the thick pipe that gets mounted on the acle on the other side 😀......
      cost efficient 👍

    Nice build. I am building one as we speak. May I ask, why did you mount the pillow bearings above the frame? Would it not be stronger if the bearings were mounted under the frame? Then the entire weight of the frame /wheels/tires would be on the bearings? Not a criticism just wondering.

      Honestly it doesn’t exactly matter where the axle is positioned, as long as you have a strong place to mount it. In my case I went with the axle above the frame so it’ll help with the center of gravity. The goal for mine is to go fast in a straight line. Good luck on your build hope it comes out great!

    How is the sprocket attached to axle? Which axle did you use?

    • @robsshop8704

      It’s a 1 inch axle with a 1/4 inch keyway I got off Amazon, same with a sprocket kit, it came with the hub, sprocket, key and bolts

      @@AdrianGarcia-tz1yx I had that issue with mine, they have the throttle lever tightened down. There is a nut you loosen up till the arm moves. There is also a set of linkages that control the throttle, if they are bent or disconnect nothing will work. Also check the cable itself to see if it’s binding up.
