i would add a little tip to this: you can actually summon a karakuri to cancel the animation your stock in after your third huge BONK (and it's much faster than a roll cancel). Wich allow to quickly chain the base combo into a karakuri like the chain trap
what i like about maul is even all of the other weapon can set up for big damage through their combo systems and bar build up, maul is just one *clank* two *clank* THREE *BONK*. It just gets straight to the point.
I just love how the Hammer plays in WH...this is my absolute favorite Weapons right from the start... And it felt very good when I saw you playing quite the exact way I already did... tells me I wasn't too far off with it :D - Still trying to beat that Tempest boy...running with a 70% part break Icetusk hammer until then upgrading to your version...can't wait to get there!
You don't really even need to worry about having torch for fireworks on the recommended Karakuri bit, you can build a crossbow with the stake, it's amazing at downing flying Kemono and I personally prefer it since it can also cause grounded Kemono to flinch on hit, sometimes even interrupting them out of a special attack or just giving you that extra window to land the last hit of the maul combo before they move away.
Based on my testing the follow up attack on the stake Karakuri actually deals about two thirds the damage of the entire standart three hit extention combo, so I personally use the Amaterasu legs in my build to get a 10% bonus on that attack
In case you didn't know you can cancel the long last hit animation with the stake karakuri and follow it up with a huge hit if the stake lands in a kemono. The hit = about 90% total damage of the final hit in the extended combo fyi
Finally Also, just from watching the first couple minutes, using boxes (when you don't want to move far), and the spring (when you need s), you can animation cancel and constantly attack your target.
Beat the game solo with the bow and then started a Maul build. My goodness, with proper use of karukuri, it absolutely destroys. Set a trap, lure then in with the crossbow, slam on head. So fun
Hey if you grab all of the extended raps (6%, 6%, 4%) and grab the 15% desperation... then drag that to the normal lavaback hammer. You will have 31% extended rap and with 2 armor pieces you have 29% desperation, your weapon when extended is over 2,200 atk. Highly recommend for endgame breaking build

If you're already good at the Maul extension then Tunnel Visons shortening isn't even noticeable. I honestly didn't even know it had a penalty until I watched this video. So if you're worried about it then don't be. You'll probably not even notice it.
Played Hammer in MH and play Mault in Wild Hearts. It is so clumsy and open for any attack and the time windows annoy me sometimes. Still it’s my choice of heart. Will I love my hammer/mault? Always.
im confused does the weapon its self matter since you can convert the traits? maybe wasnt like this when you made video so just curious i see everyone with this hammer why i have the dragon hammer i dont have tunnel over 4% but i fail at timing anyways but im over over 80% shockwave going for 100% or cloesest possible but am i failing by using a different maul? sorry late to game only able to play one game at a time since i have to beat it before i can leave it
I think I'd you have a subscription to the ea app you can get 10 hours of playtime without purchasing the game. That might have only been before the game came out though, but it would be worth looking into.
@g1llifer I think it is worth getting, but if you play on pc, there are still performance issues. I lowered my settings, so it is mostly fine now. I'm having a lot of fun with the game. The weapons are all very unique and feel good to use. The kemono are really cool too. I like how the kemono can actively change the environment they are in and none of them felt unfair to fight. It looks like the developers will be following the monster hunter route of releasing free updates that will add more kemonos and weapons too.
I will say while this game is really fun and the building gimmick is really revolutionary as is the ability to customize the hunting map putting teleport points and buildings anywhere you want, I can't recommend this game especially if you have a middle to low rig. Friends with lower specs really have it hard later in the game with it moving in slow motion that its borderline unplayable. Sync issues and performance is terrible on pc and it's unacceptable. There is also no good end game. You feel like you get the same garbage over and over again with very little if any room to improve. It's also easy in the end game with hunts lasting upwards of 1-3 minutes. Dont get me wrong, it's very fun to have a manipulated map with collectibles and such and if you can handle 30 frames then by all means, but I would wait for them to fix it or show effort that they fix it since it released unfinished like all games nowadays.
I mean you can just build this weapon as you go along along this particular path as for armor it honestly doesn't matter too much a lot of the low and mid-tier armor doesn't have like super well-defined skills
Looking for ideas to tweak my own build that weaves in and out of tree. Looking for something better then +6 savage. I end on lavamaul with extended rap/powersmash with one stroke power boost the 15% desperation and +6 svg + final blow. I'm sure I could get my dmg up higher dropping all but the desperation.
Does Someone Know How To Unlock Certain lower tier weapons? For example i can Craft the First Lavaback Maul, But the second Upgrade down, is a 2star Fire maul. It Still is a ? While i am at the middle of chapter 3

The legs also provide a massive bonus if you use chain traps to stagger the monster and then loop your basic combo with Karakuri

The maul and stake are beyond OP can 1 hit for 9999 damage with stake 3 hitting almost everything in the game

I'm main maul. To be honest, from early game to end game, maul is op. Doesnt take a lot of time to destroy a kemono.
