@@rayz1685 I definitely reccomed checking out D.gray Man! It's a really compelling supernatural shonen manga with dark themes. The themes and tone is similar to Pandora Hearts, so if you like Pandora Hearts then you'll probably really like DGM too.
I think the art of D.Gray-Man pushes the show a lot. I love the 19th century gothic and Christianity art style it has a lot of personality. Is unique and different in a good way.

Oh man same D.gray man and pandora hearts were my biggest art inspiration when I was in 6th grade, now im going to art uni and thinking of how much works like them affected my artistic preferences keeps them in a special place in my life.

DGM is one of my main art inspiration! honestly even in the beginning of the manga you could tell Hoshino did have a vision and knew exactly what she wanted to do. The art in the last few chapters is wonderful, but it still holds the same vision and aesthetic of the first few volumes which is amazing. Some of the series lose this "visual aesthetic" that was in the beginning of their story in favor of drawing something better/ amazing. btw thanks for giving this manga a spotlight!

Just read the latest chapter, this manga is just different, the feels and the emotions in the characters are just awesome and well delivered, the story behind everyone of the characters is iconic and unique. It's really underrated and it's saddening to see that. I hope it gains more popularity, because this is literally a gem and better than many of the other famous mangas out there
agree. All I see out there is overly violent aggressive shouting characters with rough designs and art. I dont like it one bit. This manga makes you pause feel and think.

I think of D Gray Man's art a lot as Square Enix designs. When D Gray starts the art reminds me of Kingdom Hearts, with more captivating designs, bigger eyes and a certain FMA vibe. But when the story tightens, a more Final Fantasy look mixed with Death Note and Angel Sanctuary enters the art is more detailed and darker even if the colors are FF is a very stylish art, it just didn't convince me to invest in the narrative because I have many to read. Good relaxing video with art upgrade.

Aaah thank you so much for this video, its something i didnt know i craved until now 💚 Its so amazing to see a piece of art/a series, or rather an artist, evolve like this. Especially for a long running series like dgm it feels like it grew up alongside me and vice versa. With some media it feels like you remember it with rose tinted glasses and when you actually see it again you're shocked that it doesnt look as good as you remember it. But with dgm its different, the newer chapters always look the way the older ones seem to look in my memories, yet i am constantly in awe how much the series changed. Not just in looks but also story and depth....
D gray Man is my childhood. I can remember watching it with my family. It was a delight and I know it sounds weird I’m only 19. I watched it on Funimation when I was younger when it show at night. Then my family started recording it on the DVR. We watched it and I don’t remember if we ever finished it on TV. But I ended up finishingIt’s online. Even watching Hallow when it came out. I finished the manga too.
Hoshino is my biggest inspiration and my favorite artist. I just love her art style, she really is a master to convey emotion without any text (I cried so much when the dog Allen died and Mana hugged Red for crying for Allen 😔)
I honestly think she must have had a journey of finding what works for her at least a little shaped by the hiatuses etc. Also because as a disabled person I find her art so good for representing different disabled people! It's there in Allen's Crown clown(he literally levels up by just going one armed with a weapon like...), Marie's blindness(where he's not a simple super hearing because disabled situation, he had a life before losing sight in adulthood that shapes his abilities and notably even gets drawn with non stereotypical eyes for a blind character sometimes), the strength Lenalee continues to show after losing so much mobility because of the limits of dark boots being reached, even casual shots of Johnny in a wheelchair as he's recovering. I love how she portrays disability throughout despite having no idea what her intentions or thoughts on these things are.
she has aa peculiar love for disabled cats too. She lost her long time cat recently. The one that inspired Timcampy. She adopted two new disabled cats 💖🙌🏻
To take inspiration isnt plagiarism especially when you come to realize a lot of other manga were inspired by other works. I believe that even Tokyo Ghoul was somewhat inspired by DGM and thus I have a higher appreciation for both manga and mangaka

D.Gray-man is one of the bests I’ve ever read. Along with Toriko, Dorohedoro, Buster Keel, Beet the Vandal Buster, Bitter Virgin, all of Sasuga Kei’s works, and the original greats that most western otaku enjoy.
The problem is that there are many fans of this story in parts of the world where the mang is not available. We are left with what we watched in the two animes 😔😔 Me i loved them.
Alex, do you know about Yuuichi Kumakura and his Ou Dorobou Jing? It's quite old and unpopular but the author has gone through an impressive artistic evolution too.
This series absolutely needs an anime reboot. Bc of all the hiatuses and breaks, it would be extremely difficult for new viewers and audiences to pick up this story, especially after so much time between seasons. A reboot now, would definitely boost its popularity and would help garner a bigger audience. Not to mention that this series NEEDS to be redone, preferably by a better studio. We need a new slate, to reintroduce this series as an anime again, rather than trying to salvage what we have while missing important and impactful moments the anime chose to omit.

The artist of D.Gray-Man is a great artist she was one of Obata's editors and she learned a lot from Obata (Obata is the artist who draw Death Note).

I was very into DGM in high school and read it until Hoshino went on hiatus. I remember it being one of those series that really inspired me to draw

I used to be madly obsessed with DGM back when I was in high school. Now I would come back from time to time to the series.

D.Gray-man is one of the bests I’ve ever read. Along with Toriko, Dorohedoro, Buster Keel, Beet the Vandal Buster, Bitter Virgin, all of Sasuga Kei’s works, and the original greats that most western otaku enjoy.

Alex, do you know about Yuuichi Kumakura and his Ou Dorobou Jing? It's quite old and unpopular but the author has gone through an impressive artistic evolution too.

This series absolutely needs an anime reboot. Bc of all the hiatuses and breaks, it would be extremely difficult for new viewers and audiences to pick up this story, especially after so much time between seasons. A reboot now, would definitely boost its popularity and would help garner a bigger audience. Not to mention that this series NEEDS to be redone, preferably by a better studio. We need a new slate, to reintroduce this series as an anime again, rather than trying to salvage what we have while missing important and impactful moments the anime chose to omit.
