I respect your opinion on Peach being the gold medalist out of the good characters. She may be the ruler of her kingdom, and typically that means she has to be very protective and not let any outsiders in. But Mario was an outsider. And in fact, Peach understood what Mario’s goal was. To save his brother from the Bowser Kingdom. And she was very understanding and encouraging when Mario came so close to completing the obstacle course. She gave Mario another chance to succeed. That’s what makes me like Princess Peach more, she’s not your typical kingdom ruler. She’s very patient and understanding and really believes in Mario.
Well, I actually figured Princess Peach was gonna the purest good character in this movie, even though I haven’t seen the movie and before I saw this video.
I was so scared of Peach being a Generic Strong Woman character, but thankfully, she balances out being a tough fighter with being a kind and caring princess that we know and love.
Kamik's loyalty and chemistry towards Bowser maybe because in the Mario games, Kamik is Bowser's caretaker. So Kamik's behavior in the movie might be paying homage to that story.
Not to be picky, but I think you could have included The Blue-Shelled Koopa General from Rainbow Road in the list, possibly at the Silver Medal of Evil. He's plain psychotic towards going out to kill Mario personally, almost on the same level as Bowser during the final fight. He even rams through the other fallen Koopas while chasing down the Karts. And when he fails, he's demented enough to commit what's possibly a suicide bombing to make sure Mario dies.
I feel like the most evil is actually the blue Koopa in the rainbow road segment. You can tell he has been driven insane to the point that the only thing he focuses on is Mario’s death.
The Illumination Super Mario Bros movie was so awesome when I saw it in theaters the other day. For right now Luigi is my favorite character, since my favorite Super Mario character Yoshi wasn't in the film, but he's going to be in the sequel that has already been confirmed pretty much.❤💚💙🎥🦖
The koopas is something I would put between spike and kamek, Mario’s mom behind Luigi for being the only one to give the brothers some love, the rest of Mario’s family would go in front of Mario’s dad, and the rich couple’s dog in front of spike, and the rest of the toads in front of Mario’s mom for taking princess peach in when she was a baby and training her.
@@c9cage14 Luigi literally saved Marios life. Toad can be very mischievous at times, such as when he hit Mario with a stick, tossed a Biddybud away in a pout of excitement, and stole a pair of sunglasses just to look cool. The top 3 in my opinion should have been 1. Mario 2. Princess Peach 3. Luigi
My favorite is of course DK, it was nice to see him go through character development by going from a villain to hero like in the games, and it would also be nice to play as him in the main games as the power ups also. I think we maybe get a Yoshi’s Island movie next because spoiler, a Yoshi egg is in the end credits.
Even from the beginning, he wasn’t really a villain. Just a rival In the games, he’s always a good guy. The one who fought Mario in the Donkey Kong arcade games was Cranky Kong, who was the original Donkey Kong. Current DK and Mario are friends (they still fight in the Mario vs DK games, but they’re more like friendly rivals in those). But yeah, everything else you said is accurate. DK is also my favorite character and he had a great character development.

I may have been letting Donkey Kong's negative antics get to me lately, which I should really take with a grain of salt. Besides, he's relatable when it comes to reputation. But the character development I see with him is satisfying!
Kamek is a good adopted father to Bowser, there’s more to Bowser when he’s left alone, as he simps over Peach while playing the piano. Also I feel Mario should be #1 with his severe determination and always being there to protect those that he loves, meanwhile Peach has been known to be doubtful and against Mario’s ideas at times, not to mention she said that Mario wasn’t important when giving a speech to her Toads.

Also with Luigi, did you notice in the beginning when they are both running to the client’s house that Luigi goes out of his way to help people as he’s running (like picking up things people drop). He similarly starts helping people at the end when he gets the superstar before joining Mario to defeat bowser.

Nah, DK is definitely further on the good side than Cranky. Sure he has an ego that persisted throughout the movie, but at least he was willing to step in to join the main cast to fight off Bowser. You'd think after saving Cranky he would've just dipped but nope. He stuck through till the end and at that point didn't even antagonize Mario anymore
I think DK is just below his father simply because even after the Kong army become allies, he still goes out of his way to insult and ridicule Mario. Even after Mario saves DK's life, which causes him to soften up to him a bit, he still has his massive ego deep inside, but it's hardly a hindrance to Mario. Cranky Kong, on the other hand, just plays his role as king of the Jungle Kingdom, so that's why DK is just below his father.
I'm not even surprised that Bowser got the gold medal of Evil. I know, it's blatantly obvious, but damn, does this iteration of Bowser make King Boo from the later Luigi's Mansion games look sane by comparison. Dude tried outright _nuking the Mushroom Kingdom_ (or at least the equivalent of nuking) for crying out loud!

@@Goomba1309 I think there’s also a huge difference in both Movie Bowser and Movie Robotnik’s laughably evil qualities. With Movie Robotnik, his laughably evil qualities were so abundant and frequent and overly hilarious that it was hard to take Robotnik seriously and if he truly is still alive and will return for the third Sonic movie, I’m not scared at all not only because he’s too funny to take seriously, but he doesn’t do anything too outwardly horrific in both Sonic films. Meanwhile, with Movie Bowser, despite his Laughably Evil qualities and hilarious moments, I couldn’t help but genuinely be scared and intimidated by him at all times and was afraid at what he was gonna do next and am genuinely terrified what he’s gonna do next if he returns and is freed in the inevitable sequel as the main antagonist again. Movie Bowser is a lot like the Joker or Bill Cipher in that while he’s genuinely funny a lot of the time, he’s far too heinous and evil to ever not be absolutely terrified of him at all times.
I just watched the movie and it was amazing. Definetely agree with the ranking with one tiny problem: why isnt blue Luma ranked as bottom grey or even least bad character because of depresing and dark tone for all scenes he had?
Yeah, the characters that were missing in this were Mario's mom (low-good tier), Lumalee (probably low grey tier) and the Koopa General (probably between Kamek and Bowser, given just how much he liked murder).

Hey Kyle, I think you missed two people. The Luma that was in the Cage with Luigi and the Penguins, and the Blue Shelled Koopa Commander/General that tried to kill Mario and Donkey Kong on the Rainbow Road. I Imagine that the Luma would be somewhere on the gray area because although he/she does not do anything bad in the movie he/she does have a morbid fascination with death that creeped Luigi and the Penguins out. Giddiness of death is pretty eerie and are disturbing thoughts to have. Also I believe that the Blue Shelled Koopa that attacked Mario and Donkey Kong should get the Bronze Medal of Evil because he was the Koopa that almost killed Mario and Donkey Kong during the Rainbow Road chase. He should rank higher than Foreman Spike on the Evil area of the scale, but lower than Kamek and Bowser because, well those two are his bosses. I also thought that Toad in this Movie was pretty fearless and Badass. He is pretty much like the Toad that was in Super Mario Bros. 2 the game. While Toad is usually a coward in most Mario games, in Super Mario Bros. 2 Toad is a brave man/boy in that game. He is also pretty strong and fast in that game too.

Bowzer isn't actually evil he is a broken Orphan and a Single adopted dad. His rage comes from that it's also why he needs peach so he can give his children the family he never had.
I think the most evil actually is the koopa general thinking about he never met Mario but all he focuses on is Mario's death and he even sacrifices himself just to attemp to kill Mario.

I saw the movie on opening night, and it was nothing short of phenomenal! It's what I've been waiting to see since I saw the teaser back in October! I cried nostalgia during the end credits due to the music medley! Also, about Bowser, he's my favorite villain in all of media! He's also large and in charge! Outside his job of being destructive, he can be a good buddy to hang out with, even in Mario Kart, which is an awesome reference they put in the movie! Having said that, once I start battling him, I'll still try to defeat him! But all jokes aside, this became my new favorite movie of all time!!
I expected Foreman Spike to be in the last spot in the Gray area mostly because of his attitude change after Luigi saved him and the Bros defeating Bowser leading Spike to cheer for them with the rest of Brooklyn but that part was very minuscule so that's probably why it wasn't counted
The true question of this movie is who fixed the plumbing when Brooklyn was flooding while Mario was in the mushroom kingdom and Luigi was off in the Dark Lands? It had to be Spike ig.
Amazing! I saw the movie yesterday and I just made my own list predicting the Good to Evil Ranking today. This is pretty similar to my list, but I included a few other minor characters in the ranking. Mild Spoilers below. Good: The Toad Council and Mario and Luigi’s mother are right after the 4 main heroes. Gray Area: Lumalee, the imprisoned Luma and Francis, the Angry Dog. Bad & Evil: The entire Koopa Troop falls here, but I think the Koopa General in particular earns the bronze medal of evil for leading the attack on Rainbow Road and becoming a Spiny Shell. All in all, I absolutely loved the Movie! I really hope it gets more sequels and spinoffs in the future!

I watched this movie yesterday and I loved it
Also with Luigi, did you notice in the beginning when they are both running to the client’s house that Luigi goes out of his way to help people as he’s running (like picking up things people drop). He similarly starts helping people at the end when he gets the superstar before joining Mario to defeat bowser.

I kinda wanted to see the blue shelled koopa on the list. Since that dreadful scene, I cannot see a blue shell the relatively same way.

Nah, DK is definitely further on the good side than Cranky. Sure he has an ego that persisted throughout the movie, but at least he was willing to step in to join the main cast to fight off Bowser. You'd think after saving Cranky he would've just dipped but nope. He stuck through till the end and at that point didn't even antagonize Mario anymore
I think DK is just below his father simply because even after the Kong army become allies, he still goes out of his way to insult and ridicule Mario. Even after Mario saves DK's life, which causes him to soften up to him a bit, he still has his massive ego deep inside, but it's hardly a hindrance to Mario. Cranky Kong, on the other hand, just plays his role as king of the Jungle Kingdom, so that's why DK is just below his father.
But yeah, by the end of the movie, he doesn't antagonize Mario anymore, so that's good.
I'm not even surprised that Bowser got the gold medal of Evil. I know, it's blatantly obvious, but damn, does this iteration of Bowser make King Boo from the later Luigi's Mansion games look sane by comparison. Dude tried outright _nuking the Mushroom Kingdom_ (or at least the equivalent of nuking) for crying out loud!

@@Goomba1309 I think there’s also a huge difference in both Movie Bowser and Movie Robotnik’s laughably evil qualities. With Movie Robotnik, his laughably evil qualities were so abundant and frequent and overly hilarious that it was hard to take Robotnik seriously and if he truly is still alive and will return for the third Sonic movie, I’m not scared at all not only because he’s too funny to take seriously, but he doesn’t do anything too outwardly horrific in both Sonic films. Meanwhile, with Movie Bowser, despite his Laughably Evil qualities and hilarious moments, I couldn’t help but genuinely be scared and intimidated by him at all times and was afraid at what he was gonna do next and am genuinely terrified what he’s gonna do next if he returns and is freed in the inevitable sequel as the main antagonist again. Movie Bowser is a lot like the Joker or Bill Cipher in that while he’s genuinely funny a lot of the time, he’s far too heinous and evil to ever not be absolutely terrified of him at all times.

I would think Mario is the morally just hero in Illumination history, while I think Bowser is the most evil character illumination has ever created!
Yeah, I’ve been thinking that. It seems like Mario is the most heroic protagonist of every Illumination movie yet made.
I just watched the movie and it was amazing. Definetely agree with the ranking with one tiny problem: why isnt blue Luma ranked as bottom grey or even least bad character because of depresing and dark tone for all scenes he had?

Yeah, the characters that were missing in this were Mario's mom (low-good tier), Lumalee (probably low grey tier) and the Koopa General (probably between Kamek and Bowser, given just how much he liked murder).

Hey Kyle, I think you missed two people. The Luma that was in the Cage with Luigi and the Penguins, and the Blue Shelled Koopa Commander/General that tried to kill Mario and Donkey Kong on the Rainbow Road. I Imagine that the Luma would be somewhere on the gray area because although he/she does not do anything bad in the movie he/she does have a morbid fascination with death that creeped Luigi and the Penguins out. Giddiness of death is pretty eerie and are disturbing thoughts to have. Also I believe that the Blue Shelled Koopa that attacked Mario and Donkey Kong should get the Bronze Medal of Evil because he was the Koopa that almost killed Mario and Donkey Kong during the Rainbow Road chase. He should rank higher than Foreman Spike on the Evil area of the scale, but lower than Kamek and Bowser because, well those two are his bosses.
I also thought that Toad in this Movie was pretty fearless and Badass. He is pretty much like the Toad that was in Super Mario Bros. 2 the game. While Toad is usually a coward in most Mario games, in Super Mario Bros. 2 Toad is a brave man/boy in that game. He is also pretty strong and fast in that game too.

Why didn’t you include Blue Shell Koopa and Lumalee? If we’re including Penguin King, Papa Mario, and Foreman Spike, where are those two? Blue Shell Koopa would have stolen the Bronze medal of Evil from Spike.
Blue Shell Koopa is actually more evil than Bowser. He wanted to kill Mario so badly that he killed other Koopas and tried to suicide bomb him
Kinda odd adult penguins are the size of the baby penguins in the NCU. When usually the adult penguin’s are much bigger in the games.

Orphan and a Single adopted dad. His rage comes from that it's also why he needs peach so he can give his children the family he never had.
I think the most evil actually is the koopa general thinking about he never met Mario but all he focuses on is Mario's death and he even sacrifices himself just to attemp to kill Mario.

I saw the movie on opening night, and it was nothing short of phenomenal! It's what I've been waiting to see since I saw the teaser back in October! I cried nostalgia during the end credits due to the music medley! Also, about Bowser, he's my favorite villain in all of media! He's also large and in charge! Outside his job of being destructive, he can be a good buddy to hang out with, even in Mario Kart, which is an awesome reference they put in the movie! Having said that, once I start battling him, I'll still try to defeat him! But all jokes aside, this became my new favorite movie of all time!!
I expected Foreman Spike to be in the last spot in the Gray area mostly because of his attitude change after Luigi saved him and the Bros defeating Bowser leading Spike to cheer for them with the rest of Brooklyn but that part was very minuscule so that's probably why it wasn't counted

Amazing! I saw the movie yesterday and I just made my own list predicting the Good to Evil Ranking today. This is pretty similar to my list, but I included a few other minor characters in the ranking. Mild Spoilers below.
Good: The Toad Council and Mario and Luigi’s mother are right after the 4 main heroes.
Gray Area: Lumalee, the imprisoned Luma and Francis, the Angry Dog.
Bad & Evil: The entire Koopa Troop falls here, but I think the Koopa General in particular earns the bronze medal of evil for leading the attack on Rainbow Road and becoming a Spiny Shell.
All in all, I absolutely loved the Movie! I really hope it gets more sequels and spinoffs in the future!
I hope that they decide to also make A Luigi's Mansion movie in the future, so Luigi can also get his chance to shine on the big screen as well.
