    Hi Alec, so enjoyed your videos, and fly tying tutorials, I’ve adjusted your nothing fly by using a size 14 jig hook, and chartreuse offset weighted bead, fished deep in hot sunny days, and bingo, slow figure of eight retrieve, just wanted to say thank you very much and keep them coming 👍👍 Les Thomas in Somerset.

    I was fishing there that day and they both make it look so easy. It was great to see both of them discussing tactics with everyone around that day.
    Personal thank you to Alec for the x2 nothing flys. I’ve not had a chance to use them yet but I’m up Chatton on Wednesday evening, I’ll keep you posted 👍🏻

    My local water Alec set in a stunning location. The owner James understands what the fisherman wants and I have to say he has provided just that. Cracking fish with the chance of a double interspersed with some stunning brownies and occasionally tigers. Not too easy at times as Peter said but this is how we improve because we have to use methods we perhaps aren't familiar with. Some great advice from Peter and yourself about scaling down and fishing slow. When fishing the platform I always find it easier to walk the fish back along it and net them in the shallow water. 👏👏

      Hi Glyn, it's a lovely Fishery, plenty of options to fish different methods, I bet as the summer goes on it gets some great evening rises and the dry fly fishing willl be fantastic 👍🎣🐟

    Hi Alec from sunny Dumfries and Galloway. This is just fantastic viewing and tips. You say in your film it takes you ages to work out how to fish flies ,like the apps slower in the warmer months. How admirable to share your knowledge after all yhe hard graft working it out. So I've a question for you 🤔 😄 when you fished the size 16 Top Hat (that I copied from you buddyand have had great success) I've never fished that size. Would you recommend black or white for the hat and which size of foam would be best Alec ???? Look forward to many more vids. Much obliged Jim.

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The foam is high density 1/8th of an inch, we use black through the day and white as it comes in dusk 👍🎣🐟

    Seriously, if you want a really hard small still water fishery, try Tan Y Mynyd. It's far harder than the lake you were fishing as he hardly stocks it and it's some small lakes that are absolutely hammered. I blanked there couple weeks ago and consider myself to be a pretty good flyangler.

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think I will bother doing a 9 hrs round trip plus fuel to a still water where there is a good chance of not getting a take , I will give that one a miss , thanks 👍🎣🐟

      @@alecharveyfishingandflytying But isn't your mate in the video some kind of UK champion on small Stillwater's? It would be good test for him. I won't bother going to this fishery again as the few times I've been it's always a struggle. I don't want to sound big headed but I consider myself to be a good flyangler......I've only been twice to GrIagweld and seemed to be catching more than anyone else and people started coming up to me wanting to know what flies I was using. But it was more my presentation......static or very slow. Like your mate in the video says. You look around and everyone pulling their flies back in repetitive quick strips. The trout have a pea brain but quickly learn that biting anything that moves like this in the pond is bad news. And most natural food creatures move very slowly.........but I blanked at the Tan Y Mynyd. I think only fishing tiny buzzers and dries ( like size 20 ) would work.......but would be still tough going.

    Brilliant as always.
    With the controlled pulling on apps does Peter add in a few faster pulls also and is it an equal spread of each or mainly slow?
    Saw him do some faster pulls on the video but not sure if it was just because he was at the end of a retrieve?
    Cheers!

    Why the hell would anyone need instructions for fishing a small, over stocked square?? I've only fished here twice ( that was enough ) and was outfishing everyone else, to the point people where coming over to see what fly I was using ( but more about my presentation). I found it embarrassing. I wouldn't class my self as an ' expert ' just an intermediate angler with commonsense.

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jonathan we do the videos for fun and if the tips and methods we use help anglers catch more fish then that's great, not everyone can be as good as you obviously are as you were catching well on that fishery. I only hope you helped the anglers who were struggling to catch that day and gave them the benefits of your great experience and skill 👍🎣🐟🐟
