Yeah Italians don't mess around. One time in Firenze we went to a restaurant and my friend was like can I get some French fries and the waiter was like this is not "FRENCH" this is ITALIA. He wasn't joking haha! I'm glad you guys made it on time!

I was in rome last month. Also got into an "illegal cab". I had no idea it was illegal. The guy got me right at the door by the station. Was robbed 3 times during my 5-day trip. At the last time, they took my luggage and even shoes. I had to sleep 5 days in the street and the carabinieri wasn't even helping me take a train back home in Switzerland. Not going back to Italy...

Little Update: I know people haven't even commented on this video for two years, but I've just been going on a little damon and jo binge and I thought i'd give anyone who drops by a lil story.
Since this video, I actually started dating a guy that I've been friends with for five years. Not only that, he's actually Italian! It's almost nine months now and my first and second ever trips abroad have been to - you guessed it - Italy to visit my baby's family. I've been blessed, and this is the only video from Damon and Jo that i've commented on. Looking back on it now, it's crazy that I specifically commented on this video, only to now be dating my wonderful boyfriend who just so happens to be Italian.
Guess it's safe to say that I finally not only found that friend i've been looking for, but that i've also found my soulmate. :) Happy travelling guys! You can never see a blessing coming. :P

Hey guys! I guess there’s a final update to this story. Unfortunately we ended things back in October. I still have huge love for him and I’m sad that a happier update couldn’t have been made. I wish him nothing but the best and I’m sad that I lost my best friend. Here’s to the future and hoping that eventually we’ll be able to find each other again as friends. Ciao!

We had similar experience in Italy too! also taxi driver in Naples asked us to pay 40euros for a very short trip that took less than 10min. They put extra cost on almost everything!

I totally understand the stress that you went through! One of my connecting flights was delayed and then the next flight was overbooked and I was literally about to spend a whole day in a place I was totally unfamiliar with, knew no one and was literally on my last $10. Plus the accommodations at the final destination was already paid for and had a no late/cancelation refund policy plus was three hours away from the airport I was to arrive in. That was not fun at all... but then everything worked out in the end, but being in that moment of uncertainty was really scary and upset and about to have a legit meltdown I almost swore off of traveling forever... However, the lesson learned that day was one for the books!

Hey! I traveled to Italy in July and me and my best friend also went to Cinque terre and well... we had a problem so we were homeless for a night in Monterosso... at the time it wasn't the greatest night I can assure you but now looking back... those are the real adventures! I love your videos guys! :)
This video brings back so many memories from my study abroad! About 6 of us went from Florence to Cinque Terre for the weekend. On the way back from La Spezia to Florence we had to deal with an extremely drunk friend who started a fight with a pick pocketer... CRAZY folks!

haha this reminded me of me and my friend! we weren't in italy or anything close to it, but we went on a college tour without our parents (first questionable idea) and we had to catch the bus. except the bus was nine miles away. and it was leaving in 10 minutes. and we had no car. we did that exact countdown right up until we magically caught the bus *thank you travel gods* ;)
when i sent the semester in italy, 9/10 times we would pay the extra money for the direct reservation trains, because the locals are ridiculous, especially with all of the strikes. And there is usually no bathroom on the local trains so that's no bueno.

I've definitely had these days when I was travelling. Everything was just not going right, missing things, things are running late, just incredibly frustrating with the language barrier as well.
how long did you guys take to learn Italian? EU AMO O CANAL DE VCS 💙 eu me mudei pros US 10 meses atrás e conseguir aprender inglês fluentemente em apenas 2 meses pq já treinava bastante no Brasil, agora acho que consigo aprender outras línguas bem mais fáceis do que antes.
