Regarding Shuhua's hair: Soyeon laid out the concept for all of them in one of her famous PowerPoints and explained why all-blonde was important to it. Shuhua didn't agree at first, and (G)I-DLE's work method is that they all have to agree on a song or a concept for it to happen. So Shuhua took 2-3 days and finally said she'd do it. She was still very apprehensive about it - when she went in to the salon to have her hair bleached she was biting her fist the whole time, but the stylists thanked her publicly for trusting them. I am sure it was traumatic, but it definitely shows the bond and trust between the members that Soyeon was able to create something that inspired Shuhua so much that she was willing to cross a formerly-uncrossable line…
Soyeon also said that she had other concept ready if Shuhua would not agree to change the color
@@toamszkozak8822 It is so striking and awesome that as much power as Soyeon has, she will NOT run roughshod over the other members. Unless they all agree, it does NOT happen.
Funny how a lot of people say Shuhua doesn't have a voice in her group, yet they have another concept/song ready if Shuhua didn't agree with the blonde concept.

@@toamszkozak8822 That was the one detail of the story that I forgot - glad you brought it up! Yes, Soyeon knew Shuhua's "I'm never dyeing my hair" position and was prepared in case she couldn't convince her. I'm sure Shuhua will go back to natural hair after this era is over, but super happy that their bond of trust was strong enough that we got this glorious era!
Shuhua came through with the more powerful belty-ish vocals in the chorus to trick us thinking it might be Yuqi singing at first. Then she tricks us again with the dreamy Minnie-ish kind of tone then slaps us in the face with the green dress. Soyeon knew exactly what she was doing to us.
One of the cool things about intelligent people like Shuhua, they can learn from EVERYBODY around them.
DreamCatcher has a couple of EXTRAORDINARILY intelligent members, both of them in the Maknae line and they learn very quickly. Dami is the Main Rapper and is called 'the brain' by the other members for her amazing all-around abilities and obvious intelligence. Gahyeon was always great at math and always got awards and prizes for being such a great student in school, especially math. They are both going into the business side of things. Dami and Gahyeon have the opportunity to learn from five other people who are each GREAT in their separate fields. These two are going to be unstoppable.
I lump Shuhua in with Dami and Gahyeon for the things she gets to pick up from her awesome members. :)
@@jamescurfman3284 Gahyeon is studying investing in her spare time - since all the members are making good money now, Gahyeon is learning how to best protect and grow what she is making so that when her idol career is over, she will be in as good a financial position as possible. Which is, of course, smart AF but also takes advantage of the fact that they are making money - something most idols never do. Gahyeon wants to be rich, and she is doing her best to make that happen.

SHUHUA SLAYED THIS
in regards to shu's hair soyeon had a whole backup plan ready for the styling but shuhua agreed to go blonde bc she liked the concept so much
Shuhua’s decision to bleach her hair shocked many, including her members
Shuhua’s transformation was particularly of attention. Prior to this comeback, the idol expressed she did not like wearing revealing clothes nor dying or bleaching her hair. However, after listening to Soyeon’s detailed explanation of the concept, Shuhua went with it after 2 to 3 days of thinking through.
Members were moved, especially Minnie: “We had dinner after the concert, Shuhua told me she was going to bleach her hair. I cried”. Shuhua comically mimicked Minnie’s expressions: “What? Shuhua is going to bleach her hair?”.

It’s freaking emotional decision.
The section at the end that's translated as "You've got a dirty mind" is actually a bit softer than the korean original (변태는 너야 byeontaeneun neoya). A more accurate translation would be "It's you who's the pervert" or 'You're the pervert". (변태 byeontae = pervert).
This makes the message even more powerful imo. "I'm born nude, it's YOU who's the pervert". Absolutely LOVE how blunt they are with this.
This is ART art. You can like the song or not but delivering such a powerful message in a three minute video so convincingly? They are artists and Soyeon's brain needs to be preserved and studied to bless future generations.

Shuhua looks and sounds absolutely bonkers in this MV, this is by FAR her absolute best to date in every way. I know she was super reluctant to ever dye her hair, but I hope she knows that she is transcendent here and she should be so proud of herself. All of us in the fandom are sure as hell proud of her, and I'm sure all the members are, too.

But yeah, I'm really loving this song. I never thought I'd hear electro swing in kpop, but Soyeon is just the kind of person who would search out more esoteric genres to give Idle that unique sound. Love them all so much.
I love all members. I have an extra soft spot for Shuhua, so seeing her being so represented and having many lines in the MV makes me happy.

The fact Idle tops each song and continues to push concepts so far and bring a message in each one absolutely fascinates me and makes me a die hard fan absolutely love this comeback!

If you look up the meaning of The Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman (book in the beginning), and what it stood for in that time when it was released, it’s also a very important point in the message of the video. Soyeon is literally so detail oriented. I can’t believe how much of a genius she is!

The thing that makes me love them so much is that they are not afraid to talk about social matters so openly and we don't see that much in the industry, specially with girl groups.
And about Shuhua's hair, we've seen in the past with dumdi dumdi era how she was sad about dying just a little bit of it to make the highlights for the photoshoot and, knowing that, we can imagine how hard it must have been for her to go full blonde, BUT we must remember that our baby shuhsu never held back when it comes to talk about society issues so I know for sure that with a concept like this, with such strong message, it was a sacrifice she was happy to make!!
When tomboy came back I felt a little worried, cause they looked a little incomplete as 5 and the song was fairly predictable. But I'm so ecstatic with this comeback, they're back to their creative, bold, unconventional art. All the people who watched it either love it or hate it, and that's how it was always with (G) I-DLE. Definitely a slay for me.

This song met all my expectations and more. Soyeon is a masterclass in the kpop industry. I love that she didn't force Shuhua into the concept and dying her hair and was even prepared in case she didn't. Is this my favorite (G)I-DLE TT or song? No, but it exceeded expectations. The concept is so unique and they slayed it. (G)I-DLE keep proving they can do any concept and crush it. Every member had their chance to shine and don't even get my started on Shuhua. POP OFF MY QUEEN. Blonde ShuShu will be the death of me I swear. This is definitely my favorite Shuhua era in terms of everything.
