If you haven't tried cold brewed coffee I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by it. It takes a long time to make but it's relatively simple. Take a coffee filter and fill it with coffee but leave enough room to be able to close it at the top with a string, essentially making a huge "tea" bag. Then steep that in cold water in the fridge for at least 24 hours. It's the smoothest coffee I've ever had and is the least acidic way to brew coffee. Stay safe and keep the great videos coming!
Marine who depends on your reviews to get the best gear for outdoor living. No BS, no affiliate links, honest reviews, good natured and great sense of humor. Will always come back to your videos for new OT gear.
back in my day, when i got a new tent, i would just assume that the seams would leak so i sealed the seams before the first use. gave me a chance to practice the setup in my back yard and correct any problems in a place where if there were problems i was not in trouble.
bottles of liquid sealer were/are sold at most sporting goods stores and included an applicator of some sort. you set the tent up and dabbed the sealer on the floor seams and the rain fly and attachment points. i believe that a spray version is available nowadays. still do that till this day and i stay dry even in a budget priced tent. many budget products are basically solid and just need a little love.
Seems do leak, and the sealant is almost never applied from factory so i also buy a sealant and use it during the first trip with a new tent. Good point! I ended Up buying that Tangram btw so ill make sure to Bring a sealant first outing 😄😄😄
Everything i hear and see about the bungalow is good and you have given it a really good test with all that rain. The side that turns into a canopy is such a great idea. Thinking of doing some camping with my Stepson and thought of having two Bungalows with the canopys facing each other forming a large sheltered area and now I feel I can purchase with confidence.
Rewatching this video today (November 1st, 2022) because I'm in the market for one of these and this sounds like a really cool idea! Think I might get two and go for a nice weekend with a buddy!
I had my Bungalow 2.0 up for 3 days and it rained non-stop.... It was bone dry inside. Also, I just recieved my OneTigris Tigers Den, it's a larger version of the Backwoods Bungalow that comes with 2 additional tarps to use on the sides of the awning. I ve got it up right now and it's POURING RAIN so we'll see if it stays as dry as the Backwoods Bungalow. It's made from 210T nylon with a 2000mm hydrostatic head so it's technically waterproof but not as much as the Bungalow 's 5000mm head. Great vid!
There is a saying in France: "Café boillu, café foutu" (boiled coffee, spoiled coffee) but then again we don't know how to make it cowboy style. just to thanks you for showing that bushcrafty little Bungalow tent. I'm a tarp, hammock, pup tent, lavvu person and I love the many ways this little bungalow tent can be configured. So I couldn't resist and got the backwoods super shelter 2.0 right from the onetigris site. I can finally give my modern Ferrino tunnel tent I hate so much, it takes dozens of tent pegs and it's always full of condensation in the morning, it's a pain to assemble... Thanks for the experiment, the video and advice. Merci.
Bungalow for me, all day long Luke. Has the porch overhang and, more importantly didn't leak at all. Thank you very much for you Videos they keep me sane in a messed up World, especially now in locked up UK.
37 yrs ago, with a large group of friends we decided on a 2 night trip to Mt Washington in N.H. Being young and camping out of my car, I didn't take my "proper" preps serious. Tent, beer, food, beer, swimsuit (river nearby), beer and sneakers. Hot & humid July 4th weekend all but 2 of us attempted the hike, I went swimming. They returned earlier than expected because no one brought winter gear. It was 38° on the Mt.! My "leather" sneakers got soaked in the river, then melted near the fire! The next day after reaching that hangover status, we took the tram up Cannon Mt. to see the "Old Man of the Mountain" and all I had was flip flops. Not smart for sure. There was a large group of Asian tourists with cameras up top with us, and honestly their laughter and smiles made me laugh too! Here they had $250 hiking boots, looking at this stupid, husky, hungover white slob in flip flops, enjoying the outdoors. When we get together these days with coffee, we still laugh over it, but now their "kids" (in their 30's) laugh too. Great tent test, ty for these real tests. You stand out from all the other so called "product testers". Great job!
I grew up in the Mt Washington Valley. Hunted, fished and hiked nearly all the presidential range… what a great playground to grow up in… then Uncle Sam called me away…
I've got the Bungalow and have used it on 3-4 trips and found it to be a solid 1 person tent. Only issue is condensation but that is to be expected with a single wall tent. Thanks Luke for the test in the rain cause mine hasn't seen much rain yet.
Same here with Michigan being in lock down for so long i havent had a chance to get out and put it to the test in rain. For the price it is a great tent and set up is easy. I like that you can also run a ridgeline and do away with trekking poles or sticks. I think it is a great design and it does build up with condensation when it is enclosed but i see that all the time even with pricey single wall tents.
I love waking up to the sound of wrens. The wren is your friend. My wife and I enjoyed two particular wrens who decided to make a nest atop a small tool shed under an overhang of our back deck. They raised 5 baby wrens and all of them made it. It was fun to watch them grow . . . rather quickly I might add and leave the nest.
I prefer the bungalow and having the capability of having the one side in a porch mode. Having a slight case of claustrophobia I tend to hyperventilate in enclosed spaces. No matter if it's raining or snowing there must be good ventilation for me to sleep in a tent. That's the main reason I hammock camp mostly all year round. You put a lot of effort into this project, Luke, and we appreciate it very much. Not too many reviewers would do what you have done. That story about your hammock collapsing twice was quite funny. My alcohol-related story happened when during a single part of my life I dated this wonderful girl and we decided to camp at the Oheo Gulch (often referred to as "The Seven Sacred Pools") on the island of Maui. I rented a Jeep, no top of course, and she asked if she could drive...yes, by all means, says I. On the way to our campsite I managed to down a bottle of wine that was poured into a 32oz nalgene bottle. We talked and laughed the 30 odd miles having a great time. Upon arrival my attempt to disembark from the Jeep made me look like I was trying to go for an 8 second bull ride and lost out big time. Yeah, not a good way to make an impression on your date.
Stumbled on your channel about a month ago, I am an ex-Canadian military veteran and currently finishing up a 30 year career with Toronto fire. Love the outdoors and your channel certainly has given me motivation to get back out there and explore, keep doing what you’re doing. Dan
When it pours here in Oregon, I love to stand outside in the rain. My nephew is the only other family member that enjoys it with me but we are getting fewer and fewer rain and snow storms. Thanks a million for another rad vid.
Greetings from Ohio! I have that Tangram tent. I took it out overnight into Wayne National Forest. It rained for a good part of the night. Zero issues. I did pitch the additional rigging at the sides and at the foot and head and additionally scotch guarded the outside. I kept an eye on the tie-outs on the screen where you had problems and I made sure they were as horizontal as possible with the additional rigging. I’ve switched out the cording from the original to a thicker paracord so the cord stays hold better. I also switched the plastic corner hooks to aluminum s hooks. It’s a great tent and a cost effective option to a dcf tent.
Luke👍👍 Killer tent test, not only the testing but a camp out to boot😊 I was surprised the tents held up to the rain as well as they did, of course the wind wasn't that much of a factor...lucky. Driving wind has a much more detrimental effect combined with rain, but, this test did show some good results. I'm not a fan of cheaper, less expensive outdoor gear, had too many bad experiences. I've learned through the years to buy once, cry once😉 Great video again as always, thanks. Enjoy!
I love my Bungalow 2.0! It has weathered much heavy rain, ice, and snow in the past few months here in western NC. In fact I was in it two nights this week in the Smokies. The first time it was in a rain there was a tiny leak where one of the screen tie-up toggles was attached, but a spot of seam sealer fixed that. I usually pitch with a ridge line and use my trekking poles to hold up the "porch." Sitting in my tiny folding chair under that porch fly cooking or just enjoying the scenery is amazing. If only I had a mule I'd get a large canvas "Baker-style" tent (which is what the Bungalow is modeled after), but for backpacking, it's just about ideal. Just never make the mistake of sleeping in it zipped all the way up or you'll have a condensation rain forest by morning.
I'm glad both tents did well on the rain test. I've used OneTigris products for several years and I'm impressed with their products. Thanks Luke safe journeys.
Need both, Bungalow for the cooler weather and the Tangram for them hot zones , seems like it would have better airflow. Someday i will get away from Tarp camping and buy a tent. I just can't see packing a tent big enough for my 11' Atoll to fit inside. My paddleboard is my sleeping mat. You peaked my interest on the Soto stove, going to check that out.
Only came across your channel just before lockdown started in the UK about 11weeks ago. Think I’ve watched every video you have. Love the content dude.
Have had my Bungalow for a few months. Very impressed with it so far. Well under 100 bucks on Amazon with some of my credits. The ONLY issue I've had is it will have condensation on the interior on cold nights if the flap is zipped down. Easy fix is to leave it up in porch mode and just enjoy the view! I usually string a line between two trees and use prussik knots to secure the tent body.
For some reason I don’t know why, I am a little partial to the bungalow tent. Now I might have to go get me one. You have some great videos my friend. Please keep them coming.
Luke fantastic review, i am 39 yrs old and because of this i will again pursue my dream when i am still young to enjoy the outdoors. Thank you for always inspiring us. One more can you do a review and test night of mountain warehouse backpacker 2 man tent. They pretty discounted that tent in there website. Thank you and more power.
I always feel like I am right there with you. You are so informative. I LOVE your videos. My 18 year old graduate, Ellie just left Monday for the Army 😫 May God bless your daughter for serving ! I will go figure out how to become a patron.
Yeah I really appreciated that. People's excuse for protesting is to get the word out but everyone already knows about it and they're just beating a dead horse 😬
Love the rain adventures, need more of them. I'm like you being in the rain is my favorite time. It's like I'm in heaven. Plus it's like we always say in the army, if it ain't raining, you ain't training.
ok i get u mean ur dog......... but for one brief moment i imagined scientific equipment and some remote research location :) .... camp dogs r the best....
Great review Luke. I have the bungalow and love it. It also has seen lots of rain and been bone dry. I also enjoy camping in a good down pour when I’m set up properly
Of the 2, I'm more of a fan of the Bungalow 2.0. I saw this previously in another video (Corporal's Corner) and really found the "Porch Mode" to be a really neat option in weather just like this. Also, thank you for bringing up the air flow issue on the bug netting... That would not be obvious by the look of it. I appreciate your in depth reviews of the products. Invaluable.
Luke, you look so tired, my friend. Remember rest is important to top notch work and efficient thinking. Keep one day a week for rest. Make it important. We all care about you and your health. We all know working in the woods with fire and tools can be dangerous during the best times. Please be careful. Rest, my friend. Texas
Great reviews. It rained a lot! Sometimes I carry foam ear plugs on backpack trips in case it gets to raining continuously for several hours. Helps me get some sleep.
A few weeks ago, I took a walk around the property. Forgot the bug spray. Ended with 6 ticks within 30 minutes. Ticks seem to be worse this year in PA than previous years.
Yet another great video and I am glad they both passed the rain test as I have recieved my Bungalow 2.0 and have yet had a chance to take it out in some crappy weather. Thank you again :)
I had a Black legged Deer Tic on me today after I returned from the woods out back of my house. I've never had a problem with Tics throughout the Decades of Outdoor adventures, but it seems to be a lot more than I remember. How about a Tic education Video in the future?
Luke, you should isolate the sound of the rain hitting the tent and give it, it's own video! I can't think of a more relaxing sound for deep sleep. Thanks for sharing man. Take care
I’ve waited for this review for a long time. I already got the Bungalow 2.O, it arrived couple days ago. I’m glad it did okay. Also I loved this camp, set up hangout and relax.
I liked today’s show , always love it when it rains ! Suggestion , for the big tarp , the military uses a cammo netting support system for their big cammo netting , 2-3 poles and a spreader (all light weight) it can replace a stick and rag (which can fall down in a windy situation and tear the tarp) check it out !
I like that bungalow tent. Huge front mesh door! Although the other tent has a ton of ventilation too, with all that mesh. But i have to say the bungalow is the better of the two because you can also use sticks to pitch it and it has plenty of room inside, less chance for leaks or rain splash. One tigris makes some good gear for the price points! Stay safe man! Hike on!
Great video as usual Luke. I have the Backwood Bungalow & I love it. The pup tent design enables it to not only shed water but it allows ventilation. Keep up the great work bro!
I bought onetigris tannu's tent because your test night seam seal seams sprayed water shield the whole tent so I don't have same leaks. I real like this still tent works out best for me. Thanks for your test night.
Always love your intro music. Ishhhhh! I have never seen a tick up close. As a precaution, i treat all of my items and clothing with the Sawyer Permethrin. I brought several bottles from the USA. I believe this product is banned in Canada, I have never found one. It is true that being outside in difficult climatic conditions can make you feel miserable. But it makes you ingenious, stronger and ready for anything... well, almost lollll!
Merci d'avance.
Greetings from Germany. I just discovered your channel and subscribed it instantly. I like your style, great work. For myself, I've been using the Tangram several times and it did a great job for me.
Broken plastic parts was one of the reason i re-learned to use knots a few years ago. So much these days comes with inferior quality components (even name brands), everyone's trying to cheap out for max profits it seems. Great idea with that "drip stick", bonus when it's pouring rain you can easily collect water for "filtering" if in need of agua.
Very good point. And that's why I m returning this rubbish bungalow. I didn't receive what u see on TH-cam. No more one tigris for me. Never again. Cheaply made flimsy stuff, and mesh would let half of the insects in. I feel sorry for ppl who recommending it, bcs they are not aware that others may get inferior crap..
I'm really pleased with the bungalow, I have been wanting one for a while now. I recently got a Teton 3 person mountain tent. Absolutely love it, it's perfect for me and the wife. No issues so far. Keep up the good work 💪.
I do not drink coffee anymore. But when I did, I preferred perculator coffee pots. Either the electric or the stove top versions. Now thats a great cuppa jo!
Thanks for the reviews Mr. Luke! Mr. Luke, could you point out the outside of the tent where the water was coming through? Also, could you tell us if it is possible to repair it and how to go about doing the repair? Thanks again.
I have the original bungalow and worked great. One Tigris sent me the 2.0 and I'll be reviewing it in a couple weeks head to head with the 1.0...hope it works as well as yours...take care
Great test !!! Now to go find your review but I’ve had my eye on the bungalow for a little while and this sure made me more comfortable in pulling the trigger on this tent !
I have the Bungalow 1.0 and love it. I got it right before the 2.0 came out for a pretty good deal. The only thing I don't care for about it, is I wish I could open the side vents somehow from inside. The vent and door tieout loops could be a little longer. But other than those petty things, I've had no serious issues with it. Im not too sold on the rear vent on the 2.0. If you zip up the door, I don't think you'll get much cross ventilation as to the 1.0 with opposing vents on each side. But that's just my thoughts.
A couple of times, I've spent the better part of a year in a 50$ tent, often in rain that went on for a month, without any major water problems. Condensation was a bigger problem than leaks, though some small leaks did occur after the tents had absorbed too much UV, which of course degraded the weather sealing a bit.
Pretty impressed with all that rain, makes either of these a good choice for Scottish weather. Look forward to hearing what you think between the two of them space wise etc. The Soto stove looked very good too. I bet it felt so good being under the tarps.
Thanks for the reviews and testing Luke. I recently bought the One Tigris Iron Wall tent. Probably not going to use it now until Fall and definitely Winter. I think I would like the Backwoods Bungalow. After reading Kephart and always being interested in the "Baker " style tent.
Yeah I'm a hammock guy too I'll choose a hammock and tarp over any tent but the backwoods bungalow looks like a tent I'd use if a hammock wasn't possible
"I just about caught my crotch on fire." And you thought your friend was walking weird and sore! lucky you caught it before the flames did! lol

You just started it
Loose threads doesn't necessarily mean low quality, just means low attention to detail.
It's just a natural by-product of sewing machines.
Love the rain adventures, need more of them. I'm like you being in the rain is my favorite time. It's like I'm in heaven. Plus it's like we always say in the army, if it ain't raining, you ain't training.
I’ve used the bungalow 2.0 on several trips this year and last. For one guy, gear, and a lab it’s perfect for us!
ok i get u mean ur dog......... but for one brief moment i imagined scientific equipment and some remote research location :) .... camp dogs r the best....
Great video thanks. 👍I've just bought the tangram and now I'm mire confident of its ability to keep the rain out
Great review Luke.
Invaluable.
Great video, I love being in the woods in the rain too, there's nothing like it.
It's amazing how he filmed that during dinner I felt as if I was there, hanging out with Luke. Good job filming!
It would be very cool to hang out with him for sure!!!! A nice weekend in the woods with some good food and a few beers!!!
Luke, you look so tired, my friend. Remember rest is important to top notch work and efficient thinking. Keep one day a week for rest. Make it important. We all care about you and your health. We all know working in the woods with fire and tools can be dangerous during the best times. Please be careful. Rest, my friend. Texas
The sweetest comment goes unreplied. Typical.
In NE Ohio this spring they were horrible!!
I learned how to do that cowboy coffee from Kent Rollins. The best coffee. It does make a mess over the sides but best coffee!
Kent is the man. Old school cowboy
Thank you so much for posting this review. I purchased the bungalow 2.0 as a result and you are spot on...
Great vid. as usual, instead of a wash cloth I keep a rubber walking cane end to keep sticks from poking through my tarps.
Your channel are the best outdoors gear review keep up the good work!
I have the bungalow 2.0 but haven’t used it yet, but soon will , thanks for that rain test of it
I like that bungalow tent.
Hi Luke. Cant beat the sounds of the rain on a tent/tarp. Take care 👍👍👍
I love the rainy camping trips...they can be awesome if you have the equipment! 👍
Been waiting for a decent youtuber to test these
Thank you for all the reviews that you do it has helped me in decision-making with several products
I use old leather palm work gloves on the end of a stick to hold the middle of my tarp. The leather prevents punctures.
Could double as a fire glove.
I bought onetigris tannu's tent because your test night seam seal seams sprayed water shield the whole tent so I don't have same leaks. I real like this still tent works out best for me.
Thanks for your test night.
Awesome review as usual. I usually get ideas on what actually works and what doesn't. Thank you Luke.
Cowboy coffee is the best! Only way I do it when camping. French press is second. Love the videos.
Thorough tests. Thank you. Video request: An overview of your favorite stoves, twig, gas, magic, all of them.
Thanks for the review of the two tents great location great video God Bless you
This guy does an excellent job...Thank you for your reviews.
Thanks for the nice Vid!!!
I'd pick the bungalow. I like the setup with that little roof.
because of your review i bought the 2.0 thank you for your job you are doing out here it really helps not to waist money :) thank you
Always a great time... Thanks Luke.. Thumbs up as always... Peace Bud...
I have the original bungalow and worked great. One Tigris sent me the 2.0 and I'll be reviewing it in a couple weeks head to head with the 1.0...hope it works as well as yours...take care
Thank you Luke. Great review. More power
Finally got around to watching this video about the OneTigris tents. Awesome review and thanks. very helpful.
Noting like waking up to that rain on the tarp or tent...until you have to venture outside...lol
A couple of times, I've spent the better part of a year in a 50$ tent, often in rain that went on for a month, without any major water problems. Condensation was a bigger problem than leaks, though some small leaks did occur after the tents had absorbed too much UV, which of course degraded the weather sealing a bit.
Man, Luke, do I love those test days like that. Not so much for the hot humid ones. Thanks my friend!
Awesome review! I think my choice would be the bungalow. I like that you can raise the one side.
Funny,I had those exact potatoes with my supper tonight just before I watched this! Good video , thanks Luke.
Of course I would have been in the hammock, but I do like the bungalow concept. Great review!
Yeah I'm a hammock guy too I'll choose a hammock and tarp over any tent but the backwoods bungalow looks like a tent I'd use if a hammock wasn't possible
I'd even go so far as to say this channel is at least 105% agenda free.
luke helps me so much in many many ways.. grateful here…….
Request: Blooper reel, please.
I would like to have seen luke falling out of the hammock haha
Totally agree... A blooper vid would be awesome.
Leigh.(Sydney,Australia)
Thanks. I will be up your neck the woods this weekend
