The scene where the green gargantua is looking up through the water at the doomed fisherman is one of the best horror cinema moments of all time.
Also I loved the way greenie would spit out the clothes of the humans he munched.
I’m a big fan of War of the Gargantuas

Absolutely horrifying scene when you're 11 years old and already afraid of the dark. I still can't be in the woods at night, even with a light.

    "Ridiculous looking monsters"
No, these monsters are actually a couple of the better looking monsters in this genre.
I never was afraid of any of the other monsters as I was with these.

@@daveatlarge5030 he’s not clueless. He’s reading off a TelePrompTer. I’m sure TCM objected to War of the Gargantuas’ intro

War of the Gargantuas is one of my favorite non-Godzilla kaiju films. This film (along with Ebirah, Horror of the Deep released the same year) started Toho’s 1966-1991 battle with Dark Shadows, which continued with King Kong Escapes and Son of Godzilla (both 1967), Destroy All Monsters (1968), All Monsters Attack (1969), Godzilla vs Hedorah (1971), and concluded with Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991)

Russ Tamblyn improvised a great line when a general is talking to him about some college students that claim to have spotted Gargantua in the snow, Tamblyn comes back with: "Ah they were probably on a bad LSD trip."

The airport scene when he first appears scared the crap out of me as a kid. This move and the Brain That Wouldn’t Die were two that gave me nightmares as a kid.

Yes Santo I agree, that green gargantua is sure creepy ... even to this day this movie holds up pretty well cuz my niece is 23 and even she got jeebies 😆 👍

I can't help but notice how Tom mocks this movie whenever he can. It's too bad. He should probably watch the movie and do some more research

Defenetly the green one is the scariest looking monster I’ve ever seen. The man in the suit deserves much credit when you look at his movements their perfect.

I was terrified as a kid watching this movie. One of them ate a person then spits out their bloody cloths.

“Ridiculous looking monsters”? I admit that WOG didn’t have a big budget to use, but this movie is pretty good and the giants are pretty scary-looking, especially the green one. They have a humanoid, creepy look to them. They can’t be any worse than some of the other monsters I’ve seen on those cheesy, crappy 60’s and 70’s Godziller movies. Mechagodziller anyone?

I agree with you completely. I love the monster designs of the Shōwa era. They never scared me as I’m a big fan of the monster/horror genre

Great enjoyable scary movie , the singer in this flick is Actress Kipp Hamilton who also guest starred in other television shows like "Perry Mason" , "Bewitched" , "Rawhide" , "The Wild Wild West" and plenty others , sadly she passed away in 1981 at a very young age of 46 (breast cancer)

She was on Family Affair the other day on MeTV. I wonder if people mentioned Gargantua to her a lot.

Is there any interview out there of Russ Tamblyn talking about his experiences on "War of the Gargantuas"?
