For an old model kit, it turned out extremely well! And for the price it is really worth it. It’s only week spot, detail wise, is the rear engine deck. But once painted and weathered, it looks the part.
Awesome!! I have the original one from the 70's, the box was pretty bad and in a cupboard in the garage - LOL. I finally brought it in to work on it. I may go a head and get this one as well, we'll see.
You seem to have referred to the 32 inch model paint work while MPC falcon is based on 5 foot model. Still it looks fantastic and one of the best falcon models I've seen. 👋👋👋
Great job on the build and good commentary. You move the video along nicely and don't get bogged down in detail while still providing plenty of information. That is a hard balance to make. Again, nice job.
I used to have a tonne of those old SW model kits. I wonder if they're lurking in a cupboard still. Tyderium, Star Destroyer, Slave One, A wing, Falcon. Cool models.
Beautiful job. Is an old kit. But is still a solid foundation for a solid falcon. Plus is the cheapest of the large ones. I am working on one from the RotJ release box.
@@EagleSciFiModeler I assume you are logged into thingiverse on the laptop and not on the phone. Maybe the file is private & not public? Not sure, but thank you for trying to share it!
I was never a great modeler. I mainly used to just glue the kits together and not bother with painting or detailing. That said, I had this kit when it originally came out. I seem to recall there not being any kind of console in the cockpit, and I glued a small piece of scrap plastic in it to sort of represent a console. I also remember it not even coming with any blue parts for the engine, so I took a piece of blue paper and used it in place of the white paper that they told you to use. I used to have most of the first wave of kits. I think the only one I have left is R2D2 and hes in need of some repairs. It always pissed me off that the only thing holding his legs on were plastic pegs maybe 1-2mm thick. Naturally they would eventually break on the third or four time he toppled over. They really should have included a metal rod, an maybe soft plastic collars for the joints, to provide strength and keep it from tipping over so easily. The only viable way to display it was in 3-leg mode. I might have my C3PO model packed away somewhere.
Even though I have the 1/72 Bandai Perfect Grade and the Finemolds Revell Falcon(boxed), I'm still suitably impressed by the detail. Not in the 900 range, but for the limited parts version, that's not half bad!
Would you mind sharing your STL for the gunner's bay? I do have a the cockpit from a Bandai Advanced Tie Fighter which I might try to use for the gunner's bay. I haven't measured anything so it may not work. I would like to do a Cloud City diorama for this model, similar to the one Boylei Hobby did several years ago. BTW - I did see your Y-Wing at Wonderfest it was impressive.
I love your video on this build! I’m currently working on this exact exact same model. It has a lot of flash on the parts lol I’m going to start working on my lights tomorrow. Can you tell me what kind of LED strip you’re using? Does it already have the wires soldered to the strip? I don’t know whole lot about lighting as I’m just getting into model building myself. I’m not sure what I need to look for on Amazon for the LED light strip.
Thank you. I use a bright white LED strip for the engine lights. Don't get indoor/outdoor kind they have a protective rubber coating on them and they are harder to work with. They usually have wires at one end but you'll need to segment to make it fit. They can be cut and are usually marked where to cut them. I would recommend watching some videos on how to light your models. I may make one soon
@@EagleSciFiModeler ok thank you!! Your videos have been helpful for me. I’m almost finished with the MPC Vader TIE fighter and have been referring to your videos on my builds 😎👍🏻
I've had that original kit sat around for about 20 years as I started to super detail it, then the Fine Molds kit came out and its been sat gathering dust ever since. Why have cotton when you can have silk.
JFC! That flash! I had the 1978 kit, and it did NOT have that level of flash. Also, that curved piece was for installing the original incandescent rice bulbs for the engine. Yeah, that's all we had at the time. No such thing as LED's. It's funny that they still included the battery box. That clunky thing holds two C batteries!
@@EagleSciFiModeler This is Round 2/PL we're talking about! They work with what they're provided and make minimal changes. They didn't totally redo the original mold but I'm sure even these modifications weren't cheap! Still, it is surprising they kept that "obsolete plastic" in there. It can probably be repurposed anyway. NOTE: I am commenting before seeing the video as danger as that is!
Part light freighter, part heavy fighter, part-anti-ship weapon, the Corellian YT-1300 does it all! Come on down to Corellia Shipworks, right down the spiral arm from Kuat Drive Yards! We'll get you into a Corellian Freighter today! Disclaimer: Corellian Corporation is not responsible for any engine, weapons, or warhead launcher modifications. The owner of the ship does that at their own discretion.
I think it's a reasonably-detailed model AND a good size at a much better price than the Japanese releases. Honestly, when the thing's painted up and unless you're anal retentive---! (Heh. I know I chuckled when I wrote that last part. We have rivet counters in the audience! I'm picky, too, but there's a point when I shut off the nuttiness at 85% and just live with the end result! This a Millennium Falcon kit I wouldn't mind displaying if I'd produced it.) I don't know what people are expecting from nearly 50-year-old tooling. There are few fewer problems with this than there are with the AMT/ERTL classic 18" Enterprise. The Revell Enterprise should have obliterated the original AMT Enterprise but for some reason the Revell people got REALLY stupid and produced the most inaccurate Enterprise kit in recent history! This Han Solo Millennium Falcon is still a better release than anything that's come directly from Disney in a LONG time!

didn't the original kit have landing gear? I remember building the old kit and it having landing gear which I like allot better then destroying the underside with the stand.
How I dreamt this model would look when I first built it aged 15.
Best MPC build, fantastic work.
Thank you, much appreciated!
One of the coolest cross-sections I seen regarding the Falcon is it showing the engines as they are multiple small engines arranged in a curve
Beauty job in this. Great tip for scribing. Thanks.

Considering the cost, it's really not that bad. Just needs some extra attention...lol
that's I like, build for looking more better for display 😊 special with fill some light inside ❤
That weatherig and the paintjob really made this model look great!
Thanks!! That's my favorite part of the build!
