This is so exciting! The video quality is still much better than analog and it barely costs more than an analog tinywhoop. I love it and when I get some more money I'll be picking up a vtx combo to stick in a couple analog micros I still have left. I personally dont have much reason at this point to even mess with analog.

I have beaten the crap out of my analog Mobula6s over their lifetime. But I have held off on going too far in with either HDzero or WS whoops because of durability concerns and cost.
I was looking for a reason to get a mobula6 2024 and I think this will be my next buy.

If it's bigger than a whoop, then I whole-handedly recommend the latest revision of the whoop lite bundle that includes the nano v3 camera. That camera is amazing

I was looking at buying the analog version but that's a rather small bump in price. The only real downside I see is that the analog version weighs 17.7 so we do have about 23% more weight on this version.

Analog isn't 60 fps, just 60 Hz, it's actually more like 480i/240p@30fps (or 25fps if you're on pal). So the ECO actually has twice the framerate of regular analog ntsc video.
I'm fairly sure most people break the ufl before they break the mipi. So having the antenna stick out above the top of the camera, where it's gonna get hit in nearly every single crash (and it's routed directly from that hole to the ufl) means this quad might not even be more resilient than a normal HDZ one.
Also, that footage looks barely better than analog but without the colour warping etc. They may as well have just used an analog cam and just put an analog to digital converter & upscaler in the VTX...
I think the Nano V3 is a bit too heavy for a 65mm, but the Nano Lite that comes with the Whoop Lite bundle is a pretty good middle zone. I'd have liked to see some full-screen comparisons of HDZ Eco vs Analog vs Nano Lite - a clip of each, but shown full-screen. It's really not possible to judge the video quality when it's just a little picture in the corner - think about it, on 1080p picture we have on YT, that block is probably getting less than 480p of it...

I'm truly partaged on this one,
it's like 14% lighter than the og whoop light bundle and 17% cheaper, it's not an incredible economy for something that is not as good in term of quality and still much bigger and heavier than analog, but on the other way it's still one more option,
if you have the goggles you can fly an analogish quad without bothering with the adaptor and the analog module.
Not truly the development I hoped (more quality/inboard DVR/more range/real cheaper, pick one) but it still is interesting,
feels a bit like a return to frost byte tho
I certainly wouldn't mind more single wire video options on digital systems. MIPI cables might do it better, but they only come in specific lengths, might not be in stock, and cost a lot more.

AHD camera is fairly common in surveillance, if any AHD camera can be used, maybe we'll see other manufacturers in the future?
@@rbFPV It is AHD, which means it is not compatible with typical NTSC or PAL interlaced video cameras. Yes, it is possible for any AHD camera that supports the exact same protocol to work with this VTX. That is 720p60. There are many different AHD standards, so not just any camera will work
5 grams additional weight is a lot for a whoop, but with a chip shortage, I guess we can survive...Better something than nothing...Mods can make this a great flyer

What !!!! I could have digital fpv system for the price of a digit camera!!! ... I was milked for a year to buy unreliable Vtx to be told we had a better product for less money .... This is messed up.

Cool idea, but I'm confused. If the ECO is converting 480i30 to 240p60 then there would be a loss of resolution. I doubt it's deinterlacing the video on the VTX to give 480p30 since this would add one field of latency. Interestingly, I notice there is no mention of latency compared to the same cam on an analog VTX...i would expect it to be little bit worse.
The camera is AHD, not normal analog. So, it is 720p60. The latency is the same as any other 60fps HDZero camera (3ms first pixel)
@@RyanQuellet but I thought this was a regular analog FPV cam. If so the interface is the standard CVBS (composite) which is limited to 480i30 (NTSC) or 576i25 (PAL). Sure the cam might provide > 700 TVL of horizontal resolution in a scanline but the vertical resolution would still be constrained to 480/576 lines per a frame or 240/288 per field right? Or am I missing something special about the cam?
@@kandredfpvThis is analog HD. It was a hardly used standard to send an hd video signal over a single wire like analog. It got displaced for everyone else by digital hd, but for this application it’s pretty great
@@airplanenut6242 is this the same protocol HD (non-IP) surveillance cams normally use over coax because of the higher bandwidth requirements for HD video? So are they able to do it over twisted pair because of the shorter transmission distance? 🤔
@@airplanenut6242 righhhhhht, thats kind of what it sounded like to me. So with the MIPI cable it's a digital camera and then you have the same hdzero chipset encoding the digital video signal and broadcasting it. Then you have this AHD camera with a single wire sending video to the hdzero chipset which then does the same thing it would have done with the MIPI cable. But to the goggles, it's all the same. Just lower resolution and avoiding the chip shortage, so it's cheaper

What do you mean ? If you have an hdzero vrx it should, but without there's no reason why it would work it's too totaly different systems
hey ryan i cant get my eco to connecto to my goggles any tips? is there a firmware update im supposed to do? there is no eco specific firmware as far as i can tell
No firmware is needed - it works out of the box with most hdzero receivers. Make sure the goggle is set to wide bandwidth mode
@@RyanQuellet thanks for the response. My eco would not power up out of the box. I had no blue light on eco, which firmware was my last ditch effort. After some research and back and forth with hdzero… The ones they are sending out are wired up differently, skipping the 5v pad on the vtx and instead wiring it to 2 BECS on the back of the eco. I ended up wiring it up to the 5v pad and have had no further issues. Hdzero support however suggests I switch it back to the BECS.
@@RyanQuellet I have plenty of pictures and video of everything. Have also spoke with someone else having power issues where “pushing down” on the vtx would allow it to power up.

You mean signal quality? It's the same as other hdzero whoop vtx's. Expect similar results to a comparable 200mW analog vtx
I save my money and buy the analog version, for an hd system the quality is very bad. I'm disapointed by the eco camera.
It's something you'd have to fly to have a full opinion of. We all like to think analog video looks nicer than it actually does

Id say this image looks comparable to the trex or runcam phoenix sp, but for a cam this small nothing analog will come close.
