  • Join us as we explore Kaikoura - a small town on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island, blessed with some of the most breathtaking views and outstanding sunsets on Earth.
Nestled almost halfway between the ferry terminal in Picton and the city of Christchurch, Kaikoura makes a perfect day trip if you are up for an exciting whale watching or nibbling at some tasty crayfish on the beach overlooking a beautiful sunset.
A bright sunny day inspired us to take a trip down to Kaikoura and we immediately noticed all the construction work that was going on. New Zealand is one of the shakiest places in the world, and unfortunately, a recent earthquake literally raised the seafloor, leaving behind coastal highways and train tracks completely destroyed.
It didn’t take long before we noticed the local wildlife. We decided to stop at Ohau Point Look Out and had our first encounter with hundreds of seals and sea lions!
A short drive to downtown Kaikoura showed us some of the local businesses, including the many cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a refreshing drink or a tasty meal by the ocean.
Next, we stopped at an absolutely stunning picnic area where with the sound of the waves, we enjoyed a healthy lunch prepared by Chloe.
With some food in our bellies and energy levels restored, we continued our trip to the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway. We decided to take a hike to the end of the walkway to watch the Sun setting over the mountains. And we have to say, this place really left us in awe, as we witnessed scenery we couldn’t get enough of. It’s a viewpoint like no other.
Our last stop was a whale-watching spot where it seemed like the sky and the ocean came together. It’s also a popular place for surfers and all the nature lovers out there as it offers endless beautiful panoramic vistas and incredible nature.
With so much beauty in sight, Kaikoura is a must-see destination in Nee Zealand.

As a lifelong photographer, that view along the shoreline, with the row of trees and the mist in the background (when you were at the picnic table) would have been an amazing photograph. Stuck in a house in the U.S. during a pandemic and looking at that scene was frustrating. Enjoy New Zealand and hopefully things will progress to the point that you can return to globe-hopping.

OH!!!! This just brought me back to when I was in the 6th grade. I remember clearly, I do remember this incident fairly frequently, that I when up to Mrs. Jackson and explained to her that I wished I had at least one sister. Watching you girls just being yourselves, having fun, and acting 'crazy' along the highway jumping and waving at the oncoming motorists. What could be better!!! And, for me, this is just mostly normal for you. These personalities will be world leaders one day. That's special!!! Keep it up Chloe, Angelique, and Julia. And Mom and Dad, thanks for encouraging these young ladies, and for being great parents.

Hey guys, hi from Hamilton Ontario, love your videos
We have been to NZ 4 times, we were there for the March 26 lockdown. We had already spent 2 fabulous months with the most perfect
Weather we had ever experienced in NZ when we heard of the pending lockdown. We were in Twizel when we found out, so we made a bee line
to Christchurch. We had3 flights cancelled before we finally managed to get one to Vancouver. In total we lost another month in NZ, 2 weeks
in Tasmania and a week in Rarotonga. Obviously we love New Zealand and maybe we will return for a fifth time.
Julie said it, it’s my favourite country. Stay safe, take care

Wow you guys were here when we first arrived. We came into Christchurch just before their lockdown but we decided to stay and we're so happy we did. We've discovered so much of NZ. I'm sure you'll make it back again once borders open up. Their winters here are so mild...nothing compared to our winters back home in Canada.

I can't help it, I've said so much, but there's so much to say. I hope you don't mind. (And for those of you reading along, take what I say to heart, too.) Julia and Angelique, you can't help knowing what a 'show girl' your little sister is (no family secret, right). Who knows what/who she'll grow up to be (but we'll all be so proud of her) right? It would be so easy to put her down or become impatient with her (and maybe you do sometimes off-camera) but what I see is that you are willing to love her and accept her just as she is. That is so amazing and wonderful, that said by an old dad of six kids who are also amazing, supportive of each other, but your relationships stand out.

A video like this takes us a good 6 hours. Life in New Zealand is Covid free. They have strict measures in place and people follow so there's no resistance to obeying the rules which makes it easy to get covid eliminated. Stay strong for what you're going through...This whole Covid is going to take a while before life goes back to normal again. Think of all the people who lived through wars and what they endured for many year before they had their lives back. I think unfortunately it's the same with this pandemic so do whatever you can to stay strong and encouraged. 💕
