- In this video we take a look at the work which has taken place over the last month or so on the layout, focussing heavily on the station & town scene.
Apologies for the quality of the sound in various places, it appears to dip in and out a bit. I think I need to invest in a proper microphone !
The containers look great, prototypical train. i have 12 bachmann wagons intermodals type. look impressive, well done!

Foliage and static grass areas look great. Looking forward to watching town scene developing. I also have many years of container weathering to look forward to 🙁

Hello from Canada. Nice job on the layout updates! Over here, we often add weight inside the containers as the well cars/flat cars are often too light. Something to consider for better tracking on the rails. Keep up the great work. Would love to see a video the scenery materials that you are using.

I have actually got quite into them what with being stuck indoors all the time !
The cutting scene where you’ve added more rough ground near the start when you show trains passing but without showing the loco shed reminds me of the Grovesend area on the Swansea District Line. Nice work.

Great video Marcus, the town scene now matches the quality of the rest of the layout, the embankment really suits being longer and I agree with you that you need to be able to see your trains running past. Any 66 in EWS is something I love too, so glad you didnt have any major issues with that one.
Have a look at a mirrorless camera marcus, £500-£800 and should be what your after, can even do 4K.

Great model union of south Africa. Such a shame she won't be running on the mainline anymore. But will be at east lancs railway for the rest of the year once it's moved. Will you be going down the dcc sound fitting route? Great progress on the layout👍🏻

Great film, thanks you’ve solved a fiddle yard problem I’ve got, I’ve got a length of 12ft for my fiddle yard less the curves at the end , my shortest siding on track 4 would have been 3ft ok for a DMU but I run American HO so your container flat siding idea would suit me fine that would give me enough for a 12 car freight :)

Townsend and station are looking good one thing to consider with road markings is they are never pristine and perfect. May be worth light brushing with the road cover paint over the edges to show them looking more worn and used. If you are not sure have a look in the street and it should be evident
Yep - its all still a work in progress at the moment, the road lines will be dulled down once everything has been applied.
looking good, station building is definitely more subtle and works well. Just need some ATW stock running through. Oh how I need to sort my back office out to set my layout up again haha

Empty space in front of shops could be filled with a market scene. Nice layout, looking forward to the next update
Interestingly a couple have people have suggested that , and I really like the idea !

your fly-tippers' van is FAR too tidy! surely would be bit of fun to give it some dents, rust, bad welding, cracked windscreen..... keep up the good work mate!

For the double yellow lines on the road, how will you paint them uniformly? I wish to do a similar thing with a station and don’t know how to go about it. Any advice is appreciated. Ollie
They wont be painted, they will be in place with transfers in some places, and not at all in other areas.

You really let yourself down by saying "Great Western Rubbish" in this video. It might be your opinion but you didn't need to say. I don't understand people's love of Southern Region but that's their choice but I wouldn't say it was. Lots of people model what are their memories or what they know.
Watching you over the last few years has been informative and helpful to me and others so I wonder how many Great Western modeller you upset with that remark?
It’s just a little bit of fun . If people take it personally then the internet is probably not the place for them ! If I took every anti modern image remark to heart from steam fans , I’d have to have given up model railways years ago !
