As a type one diabetic myself, I know the pain this baby went through. She died from DKA, and I’ve been in it once when I was denied insulin and proper care while in jail(many years ago). DKA is worse than the worse hangover you’ve ever had, and for her to get to the point of death, that’s pure torture. You literally feel yourself slowly dying…this is sick. My 16 year old was diagnosed with T1D last October. This isn’t just negligence…this was deliberate. That child suffered immensely before she finally passed.
It's on the rise in the UK too. It's almost like the generations who are now parents have zero empathy. My guess would be that these are people who have been given psychoactives like Ritalin or Adderall from a very young age, and grow up to swallow anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication like M&Ms.
sometimes when youre disabled or chronically ill people just get fed up with you and want you gone. there are so many selfish people in this world and almost all of them think they would never be so abusive or neglectful until theyre caring for a sick person for an extended period of time. RIP to this girl, im sorry she had to suffer. i know how horrible it feels to be treated like a burden over something thats already hard enough to deal with.
Some people just shouldn’t be parents. This attitude, especially towards your own child, is unnatural & sickening. I’m very sorry that you’ve been made to feel a burden by people in your life.
@Melanie_T2023 and thats why people choose to end their lives on their own time rather than Gods time bc love is not there to keep them there. Instead hatred neglect and abuse it whats there as long as they stick around.

Over 500 blood sugar. That’s nuts. My dad struggles with diabetes because of steroids he takes for his brain cancer. Over 300 really is bad for the body. 500 is crazy. That poor kid
I worked with Brent 3 years ago and he never seemed the type to do anything malicious. We worked night shift and he was always utterly exhausted from staying up to take care of his kids. I never met his wife, but I got the impression that he didn't get much help from her.
Hmm, maybe I'm being cynical here, but after listening to this video I wonder if Brent used his self-described exhaustion to gain sympathy and get other people to take on some of his work load. Manipulation rarely seems malicious when it's happening.
There's no excuse for this . I am a diabtic that is such a horrible way to die . I am on the omnipod dexcom system. If they do not work then the parents should have been doing finger sticks. Over 500 blood sugar she would have felt horrible. Dexcom will yell at you if too high . That poor baby
My pancreas died after a car accident. Even as an adult it was a hard learning curve. I too almost died from ketoacidocis from a lack of education. I'm not on Omnipod & dexcom too. Any parent that doesn't research all the help is culpable. I worry about my dog more than they worried about this poor child!
The parents needed to be educated on juvenile diabetes. My daughter and I stayed at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston for 10 days. I attended classes and my daughter age 9 was also being taught what to do with low or high blood sugars. My husband also learned how to give insulin injections. So much to learn and it is an overwhelming time for the entire family. Education is power. This story breaks my heart. May that girl RIP.
They almost certainly did get some sort of education but were careless and probably lazy. Even the most meticulous of people get burnt out with diabetes it’s a really finicky disease to control. My average number is 130 but there are definitely days when I feel too mentally exhausted to check my numbers or be careful about what I eat. Diabetes burn out is real but for some reason they probably didn’t actually believe a child could die from it (even though I’m certain they had in fact been told that).
@@missyelliot6237they said the dexcom was broken. But they had two fresh ones to change it for and even if they didn’t then they should of been finger pricking regularly
Exactly. My childhood best friend was diagnosed at 12 and her parents stayed on her butt even though she too was on it. They were a poor family with parents who worked a lot and still, they managed it.
My child was diagnosed just after her first birthday, shes 5 now and we use dexcom aswell, i dont understand how they didnt notice somthing, this is crazy. im terrified that i might sleep through an alarm or somthing but this is just too much, what a poor little girl what a sensless death,
the parents knew.. it s not normal for kids to sleep on FLOOR! If i see my kids sleeping on floor i d get my kid up and wake up.. I dont let my kids sleep on floor!
Older viewer here. Different time. Different generation I suppose. When my cousins and I were young kids that's where we slept at least for taking our naps. When we would go and visit our grandmother we would stretch out on blankets on the floor and then she'd give us each a pillow and another blanket to cover up with and we would sleep there for several hours. No one around us would have ever thought that taking a nap on the floor was strange.
@@manuellubian5709yeah… or maybe its different because she was dying on the floor without a blanket or pillow?? her mother didn’t check her for 12+ hours..
@@manuellubian5709 right but all day instead a nap? and I used to nap on floor when i was young, my parents d always check on me and wake me up. No parents should leave kids sleep on floor all day! it s not normal! plus the parents knew she is on diabetes!
This stood out to me too. Disabled or healthy this seems like a real red flag to me. Even if my kids sleep in a little I at least pop my head in to make sure they are ok.
In my opinion this is a case of negligent homicide. These parents had all the tools and opportunities scientifically possible available to them and made the choice to ignore the obvious. Like the Crumbleys, they need to be held accountable to the furthest extent of the law.
This is Appalling⚠️There is NO excuse for those monsters/parents. My son was diagnosed w T1D at 7yrs. We were not allowed to leave the intial hospital admittance/diagnosis for 12 days. We as a family were trained daily...Even my Ex & his wife, family/stepkids were trained in the hospital. I can't imagine what that poor girl went thru. My son is now 34 & he still needs help/support from us. Even his friends know what to do to help when he's in distress. This death is so tragic, yet so avoidable. The parents, both, should be held accountable! Lock 'em up & melt down the key!
Why didnt the school call 911 to get her taken to ER? If she was in that bad of shape , the nurse should have called 911 that way the child could have been taken to the hospital to recieve medical help to get stablized . 😫
I agree tbh :/ After the third or fourth time a child walks into the nurses office, I would’ve involved authorities if I was that nurse. Like that just isn’t okay. And I would do it every single time until the parents realize that the only way to stop dealing with that is to make sure their kid is okay so I don’t have to call 911. I hate all these stories so much. It always comes down to multiple failures by multiple people, and it was so preventable ):
Sounds like that wasn’t the first time they found her passed out like that and just gave her a shot and moved on. That’s why she just gave her a shot and didnt come back for an hour.
Did they have life insurance on this kid?! Cause this sounds like it was purposely done. Or the parents were just over taking extra care of their child.
Key-tones, like the thing you put in a lock and of your voice. When I was around this girl's age I tested positive for exposure to tuberculosis. I'd never heard of it before. The pills were gigantic and they stank. They made me gag when I had to take them. I complained to dad asking why I had to take them for a whole six months when I didn't feel sick. Dad said that it was either take them now for six months at home or take them for a year in isolation in a hospital; no school, no library, no summer camp. It wasn't until I was an adult that I learned just how serious tuberculosis could be, and why neither my dad, nor my stepmother, nor my doctor were playing around with either dosage or length of time I had to take them for... ... thanks dad!
I had a dog with diabetes. My lil Einstein required insulin injections every 12 hours. I hardly had a life, I was in my early 30s. Shots at 7am and pm every day. My little guy was with me for about 3 years after his diagnosis. Fawk these parents.
@foolishlyfoolhardy6004 that absolutely came across wrong! I loved my dog, hence the limitations. I had to drive over an hour each way for work. I had to give him shots 45 min before eating each meal. I worked a normal 8 to 5. So I really didn't have the ability to do much before or after work. Happy to do it. Point being, how could parents care less for their child than people are willing to care for their dog.
glad to see the criticism of the ads being right in the middle was recognized and worked with. much better to be in the beginning than to have the tone suddenly switched to cheery in the middle for it.
I was a welfare officer for kids in sport. I reported several paremts of diabetic kids over the years for mismanagement of the condition and putting their kiddos in danger. Kids would tell me what they were being fed or that mom had hyped them up on sugar so they wouldnt need to come out during a class to get tested but instead caused the kid to have a massive flucuation. Parents are lazy AF. I had 170 kids out of 1000 with enhanced medical needs and id say 25 of those werent managing their kids conditions. Anaphylaxis allergies was another one parents would make collosal mistakes with..not supplying epi pens on a constant basis. One episode id to use the spare one at the club on a child who had a peanut allergy and had been told dozens of times to keep his pen in his bag. The med bag was empty!! That boy almost died in the ambulance as two pens did nothing! Crazy.
The dexcom 6 has a sensor and transmitter. You need both working parts to get the readings. But it is a parent responsibility to monitor the blood sugar and make sure the child is taking insulin. There are alternatives. Pumps are expensive to have and keep running. If they had no 'pods' that means they were NOT ordered and a plan B wasnt put in place. What a tragedy. I became diabetic at age 15, my parents provided the supplies but NO supervision. It was a nightmare.
Did the parents think that the insulin prescription and instructions were just suggestions ??? The school nurse took better care of Alice than her parents! That had to have been a terrifying way to die. Rest in Peace Alice💜💜
A friend of mine’s daughter was diagnosed at 14 and she almost died. From the moment she was diagnosed my friends entire life and her daughters life changed. Every day needed to be planned out as far as meals and her testing and taking her medication. Her daughter was an athlete as well so it was a lot as far as getting everyone in her life including her friends and their parents informed and up to speed with what she needed and what to look out for. My friend literally wouldn’t let her daughter sleep with the door closed just in case and for the first few months because of almost losing her she slept in her room. Shame on these parents they had access to all the help they should have needed. In my opinion this is murder

I come from a family of diabetics and myself have reactive hypoglycaemia (from gastric bypass surgery) and this case has absolutely flabbergasted me. These parents neglected that sweet girl to death-pure and utter laziness, neglect and idiotic behaviour. RIP darling.
I have worked child welfare in another state and ended up removing a child for medical neglect due to diabetes not being managed by the parent. By the time a judge granted the removal, Awe had investigated the family 6-7times, and sought removal at least three times but were continuing to be denied because the parents “just needed more education and services.” The only reason we were able to get a judge to sign the removal the last time was because the child had been hospitalized for diabetes 5 times in a month period--school was out and nobody was helping the child with the insulin shots or sugar tracking. I have zero regrets about pulling that child from the home. I know the family loved the child but they had shown time and time again an inability to care for the child’s medical needs and that child was dancing with death during each diabetic ketoacidosis event.
My oldest has asthma and it was really bad when she was little. I couldn’t imagine for one second not getting her the care she needs. This is so heartbreaking. It hit way too close to home. When I was a placement student, I got to work at a school. This school was in a small town where I lived as a child. So, it was pretty exciting. I met this boy who was diabetic. His condition was very concerning. My supervisor and I talked about it because I was extremely concerned for this young man. The parents of this young man did not provide him with the appropriate amount of insulin, he was underfed, and was not fed the appropriate types of food. He was not given any insulin to bring to school and did not fully understand the severity of his condition. My supervisor explained that she has called CAS multiple times regarding these concerns. Not much would happen. Even when the parents would send insulin to school, after CAS calls were made, it was not refrigerated. They would only send it to school and "pull up their socks" for a few weeks. Things would then go right back to the way it was. This young man probably doesn't understand what type of abuse he is experiencing. He probably doesn't understand what the result of this type of abuse could be. He probably thinks it's normal. Which is the saddest part, in my eyes. I think about him often and wonder if he is doing okay, is being supported, and realizes that his health is extremely important. I also wonder if his parents got the help and support they needed in order to become the parents he needs.
Cps never does anything when people report, it's disgusting how often we hear about kids in danger who then died that cps says all was fine or did not check in on the kids..these parents really couldn't have cared about her at all

This is sickening and infuriating to see as a parent! Another example of why I firmly believe people should have to be licensed before having children. There should be background checks, financial checks, parenting classes etc to be taken before a human life is brought into this world. Kids deserve to be born in a stable environment with parents who want them and are intelligent enough to understand their care!

There should be specialized DCS workers who have basic medical training and who are trained to work together with doctors and nurses, for children with serious illnesses and disabilities.
They should be held accountable for their negligence to this beautiful child. Also, the rest of the children will pay the price, when their parents are in jail. Poor baby 😢

The courts dropped all charges, I guess as a way to try and even the situation out 😒 I lost 19 lbs in 4 days, stayed in the hospital for 7 days. I tried calling lawyers after I was out and none of them would help me. Small city in TN.

Bad parenting is a plague in America.
I totally agree! Everybody who has children should never have ever been parents.
@@MsAchampion they certainly should have been taking parenting classes.
It's on the rise in the UK too. It's almost like the generations who are now parents have zero empathy. My guess would be that these are people who have been given psychoactives like Ritalin or Adderall from a very young age, and grow up to swallow anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication like M&Ms.

Alice was treated with massive malice. RIP young lady
Rest in peace beautiful girl. You deserved so much better 💔
Murder! They basically murdered her.
They need years in prison!
The parents knew exactly what they were doing!
I worked with Brent 3 years ago and he never seemed the type to do anything malicious. We worked night shift and he was always utterly exhausted from staying up to take care of his kids. I never met his wife, but I got the impression that he didn't get much help from her.
😮
🙏🏻
Did you stay there in Boston for free, did you have to pay for any of the programs, did you stay in a hotel?
I’m sure they absolutely were educated time
And time again
They almost certainly did get some sort of education but were careless and probably lazy. Even the most meticulous of people get burnt out with diabetes it’s a really finicky disease to control. My average number is 130 but there are definitely days when I feel too mentally exhausted to check my numbers or be careful about what I eat. Diabetes burn out is real but for some reason they probably didn’t actually believe a child could die from it (even though I’m certain they had in fact been told that).
How do you teach someone who’s NOT willing to learn? I get what you mean but here they weren’t interested to learn at all.
Knowing your child is diabetic I don’t make sure you have all the medication and you don’t check on her for hours and hours and hours. Unacceptable!
What parents fail to get a diabetic child up to eat and check blood sugar during the day???
Did you hear that the parents had apps on their phone SPECIFICALLY for checking her blood sugar??? Absolutely disgusting. I can’t get over that.

I agree tbh :/
After the third or fourth time a child walks into the nurses office, I would’ve involved authorities if I was that nurse.
Wtf.
I can't imagine not seeing my child until 5:00 and not checking on them???? Wtf
So she was not very responsive so mom gave her a mega dose of insulin and proceeded to leave her on the floor? For two more hours? Who does that?
Wow! The school Nurse did the right thing. The parents are the ones that should have protected and taken care of her. How horrible!
Did they have life insurance on this kid?! Cause this sounds like it was purposely done. Or the parents were just over taking extra care of their child.
Was wondering the same thing.
Heartbreaking.

I mean, I can't travel, but other than that, having a diabetic pet doesn't inhibit my life almost at all.
Point being, how could parents care less for their child than people are willing to care for their dog.
little einstein hit the jackpot with you. way too many people throw away their pets once they have problems.
glad to see the criticism of the ads being right in the middle was recognized and worked with. much better to be in the beginning than to have the tone suddenly switched to cheery in the middle for it.
Crazy.
Very sad.
shocking, but I am not surprised, must have been frustrating
The dexcom 6 has a sensor and transmitter. You need both working parts to get the readings. But it is a parent responsibility to monitor the blood sugar and make sure the child is taking insulin. There are alternatives. Pumps are expensive to have and keep running. If they had no 'pods' that means they were NOT ordered and a plan B wasnt put in place. What a tragedy. I became diabetic at age 15, my parents provided the supplies but NO supervision. It was a nightmare.
🙏🏽💕
Idk if you watched the video but it turns out they did have the pods in the house, they just chose not to use them 😔
This poor child. Rip.

Some of the new ones go two weeks! And without that, she should have been testing regularly.
As a licensed clinical social worker this is such a sad case. Where were the other family members school, neighbors take the kid to the hospital!!!!

Absolute laziness on the parents part!
That beautiful girl! They didn’t deserve her.
As a type one diabetic, this sickens me. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 19, & my parents still took every step to ensure they were educated, & able to help me manage it. That poor girl. Her death was SO avoidable

These parents neglected that sweet girl to death-pure and utter laziness, neglect and idiotic behaviour.
RIP darling.
I have worked child welfare in another state and ended up removing a child for medical neglect due to diabetes not being managed by the parent. By the time a judge granted the removal, Awe had investigated the family 6-7times, and sought removal at least three times but were continuing to be denied because the parents “just needed more education and services.”
The only reason we were able to get a judge to sign the removal the last time was because the child had been hospitalized for diabetes 5 times in a month period--school was out and nobody was helping the child with the insulin shots or sugar tracking.
I have zero regrets about pulling that child from the home. I know the family loved the child but they had shown time and time again an inability to care for the child’s medical needs and that child was dancing with death during each diabetic ketoacidosis event.

Cps never does anything when people report, it's disgusting how often we hear about kids in danger who then died that cps says all was fine or did not check in on the kids..these parents really couldn't have cared about her at all
And then the parents who do care for their kids get them taken away on little things and ruin lives
