    Im working on a 2018 honda civic in the u.s. but the tag says u.k. version. Now i have to buy new valves to diagnose AC leak and charge system properly. I didnt mean to be rude in my last comment, the correct way to charge an ac system with refrigerant is to pull a vacuum on the system. Without that process you will experience a longer time period before cold air comes through the vents, you will also see that your ac will only blow cool air during hotter days like 100 degrees plus. When you pull a vacuum on the system before you add refrigerant, when its 100 degrees out side, you should be getting close to 40 degrees coming out of your vents, thats a clear indication that youve properly charged the system.

    It’s the refrigerant that is causing the problem. The propene based refrigerant is breaking down the seals in the system. It is also causing complete failures of the condenser unit. Honda is aware of this on all models dating 2015-2018, and has extended the warranty to replace the o-rings and condenser for 10 years/unlimited mileage. If you are going to add refrigerant, be sure to not use one with any additional additives (dye; leak seal; oil), or Honda will know you have messed with your A/C, and they will void your warranty.

    Service Bulletin - American Honda is extending the warranty on the A/C condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This warranty extension only covers vehicles that have a defective A/C condenser from the factory. The A/C condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, corrosion may develop in the form of tiny holes in the condenser tube walls that allow the refrigerant to leak out. This does not apply to any vehicle that has a leaking condenser due to foreign object damage. It also does not apply to any vehicle that has ever been declared a total loss or sold for salvage by a financial institution or insurer, or has a branded or similar title under any state’s law

    2017 Civic same issue. I've already had the condenser and compressor replaced once and I'm low on refrigerant again. How long did this refill last before you needed to do it again?

    • @umpus
      @umpus 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did they top it up all the way when you got it? I didn't think it needed regassed unless there was a leak.

    My 2017 civic busted 2 condensers in less than 6 months. And to top it off compressor blew seals after 5 years from release date.

    This is my second time filling it up with taht refrigerant and it’s blowing warm air still so I took it to the dealership today and told me it’s the wrong one and that it’s gonna cost me 9k to get everything replaced compressor, condenser and a few pipe lines. Just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this

    Yo was this easy to get connected to the low side ? Mine doesn’t seem have the correct threading even tho there’s plenty of Amazon reviews saying it worked on their civics so I figured it would work. Mine does seem to secure like yours did so trying to figure out how y’all got it to stick

    Just a friendly heads up, if you put aftermarket refrigerant in your system, Honda won't touch it (ask me how i know 🙄). Apparently, all the AM stuff is propane-based, unlike what the manufacturer uses, so they all claim it will bugger up their machines.

    • @mattdborys
      @mattdborys ปีที่แล้ว

      Follow up to this, Honda refused to touch our 2016 CRV because i topped it up with a recharge kit. They (Honda) claim that using this stuff will "contaminate" (their word) your AC system. When they go to flush it, the AM refrigerant will screw up the machine they use to suck it out. They couldn't even point us in the right direction on where to get the system flushed, super frustrating. Fast forward to today where we had a mechanic do all of it without any issues. They also changed the oil and cabin filters. All of this for a fraction of what Honda said they would charge for a basic AC recharge.

    My Honda civic 2017 stop blowing cold air again. I filled it up last summer went cold then winter came obviously you don’t need ac in the cold season. And now summer is around the corner and it’s 80 degrees turn my ac on and walla!! Blowing hot air . Need to fill her up again for 150$ . Honda needs to recall this
