    • @michaelsmith4904
      @michaelsmith4904 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you ever see this problem because it's so darn hot the right side is boiling off all the refrigerant? i.e. it's 110F out and you see 60F coming out of the right and 90F out of the left and the heat load is too much for the A/C to cool off the car enough for the two to equalze? Meaning that neither of the problems you described is the issue. In my experience driving through hotter climates it seems like no small car has an AC strong enough to really cool things down in a reasonable amount of time.

    Having same issue on my 2015 Acura RDX. Did research and I was about to order and replace the air blender actuator but one commenter said check the refrigerant first before ordering parts. Took it into a A.C mechanic and got it diagnosed, and he said the condensor fan wasn't working, the tx valve and evaporator was maybe blocked and was quoted to change the whole A.C system.
      everything a.c compressor, tx valve, tea bag filter, evap coil, condensor, fan and a Re-gas and wanted $3000.

I checked the Freon and it was right at 40 psi, but right now the ambient temperature is 110 in Vegas. I took the PSI up to 50 and now both sides blow nice and cold! On our 2006 Accord with dual (left/right) blend door motors, the left one is definitely not good.
    If we ONLY use the standard cold/hot control (that operates both L & R) it works OK. But if anyone operates the L & R independently, the left motor loses its mind completely, sending nothing but hot air.
    The temp “fix” is to move the common L/R hot-cold buttons all the way HOT, back to all the way COLD, do that a few times and the left motor eventually syncs back.
    It’s a project for another day.

They gave it back to me with a bill for $162 for oil, filter, rotate and air recharge. Still blows warm to hot air. I knew I was right when I told them the blend door was the problem and they wanted me to drive it for a week or about 150 miles so they could check for leaked dye. I told them a small leak has nothing to do with hot on one side cool on the other. ITS A BLEND DOOR PROBLEM and they are going to hear about it when I go back.

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Always possible there is more than one issue, I see that a lot. Low refrigerant (most likely caused by a leak) or an air mix motor issue (if equipped with two air mix motors) can both cause poor cooling on the left side. Some models do not have two air mix motors (dual climate control) but most EX-L models do. If it does not have dual climate control it is most likely not an air mix motor/blend door issue due to only having one blend door on that design. A large enough refrigerant leak will cause poor cooling performance (starting with the left side) pretty quickly. Refrigerant restrictions and other electrical problems can also cause cooling performance issues too.
      Regardless, the shop should have been able to tell you the exact level of refrigerant they removed (i.e. was it low, overcharged or at the proper level?), they should have checked for leaks and advised on that and they should have checked operation of the air mix motor(s) and let you know the status of those also. Leaks, restrictions in the system and intermittent problems can all cause the shop to have difficulty finding the problem immediately but they should be communicating with you on what they have done. Thanks for the input!

    Thanks, @bigdog! This helps me understand and troubleshoot. My 2006 Accord had dual temperature controls and the passenger side sometimes blows the warmer air. The curious part is the if crank that side's temperature to lowest temp, it will send cool air through. Thus, I assume that by cranking it down the passenger side pulls more refrigerant. That would mean that the evap core is also split, I think. So I'll check the refrigerant first.

    so what if it was on the right passenger side and switched to the left driver side after I swapped a new cabin filter (2012 Acura TL). i pulled the motors thinking one was bad but theyre not. Also, the cabin filter was full of tree leaves and sticks so i was wondering 1. HTF and 2. could a stick be stuck in there somewhere holding the blend door open on one side ? 3. Why would the heat swap from the right to the left just changing the cabin filter?

    I have a 2006 Honda Accord EX that has this problem. The door blend actuator on the driver's side was replaced since it was broken. The problem was still there so I recharged my system with freon (19 oz.) and still no success. I now found out that the recirculation actuator on the driver's side is also not moving its arm at all so I ordered a new one. I tried moving the blend door manually but the problem still persists. This car has 3 actuators under the dash and the 3rd one (the mode actuator) appears to be working well. However, I think I've found 2 problems with the system recharge. The first is that both valve cores are bad as they are slowly leaking and second, the ac manifold readings are off from what I think is considered normal. The ambient temp here is about 86 °F. With engine off: Low side --> ~105 psi and High side - - > ~105 psi. With engine on and ac on: Low side --> ~20 psi and High side ---> ~65 psi. I added 19 oz. of freon as that's what the service manual calls for. Should I replace the valve cores and add more freon to try to raise the pressures?

    i have this issue right now on my 2010 civic, the passenger side vent (just the one on the right) is cold and the driver and middle vents are warm. I have checked the AC relay (OK), checked the temp ix door (its working), performed a hvac self test and no lights flash, checked r-gas with the fill can kits and its in the blue (filled). Not sure what else it can be. I noticed first thing in the am when it is a bit cool outside, all vents are ok and then within 10 to 15 mins same issue happens. Any help would be awesome!

    Appreciate it! My AC router has actually been draining my battery and what finally tipped us off to it was a combination of a lovely Polish man posting a video about it, and my AC pulling this exact stunt and blowing me in the face with heat while my passenger gets all the cold. @@Mike321795 check your door actuators!!! This Honda CRV model will turn into a 2 ton door stop/paper weight if your door and or window actuators blow and won’t put power through to any of the above!

    Mine has a small leak on a high side coupling and the high side service port. The caps need to be TIGHT on these ports. The o-ring in the cap is the primary seal NOT the shrader valve unlike in a car or bicycle tire.

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, technically the cap is considered the primary seal on AC systems but the valve should not leak when cap is removed. The Schrader valve should be replaced if they leak.

    I have an 05 Honda Accord where if the AC is on, it will only blow cold out of the right side. However if the heat is on oh, it will only blow the heat from the right side. It just seems to blow whatever temperature is coming through the vents out the left. I.e. if it's cold outside I'm getting cold air on the left, if it's hot outside I'm getting hot air coming through the left. Would you say that it could be the blower door for the left side?

    Hi, I need to get some advice regarding my 2017 Honda Civic. On June 6, 2022 I took my vehicle to a Honda dealership because it was blowing hot air on the driver's side when the A/C was on. They replaced the condenser, O rings and dye due to a leak. I'm having the exact same problem again. Could a new condenser fail within 4 months? I'm seeing that it takes 3-5 hours to replace a condenser, Is that correct because the dealership did the work in 1 1/2 hours? How would I know if the condenser was actually replaced vs patching the leak since it's problematic again? Thank you.

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are definitely issues with leaks at/near the condensers on newer Civics. The techs at the dealerships have replaced so many that they can typically do it much faster than the book time now. At 4 months, the dealer should at least look at it for you due to the same complaint (however there are many things that can cause this issue besides leaks at condenser).

    Hey @bigdog50001, I’m having the same issue so I checked the Freon & added accordingly but that didn’t fix it. I then checked the blend door actuator and that is working fine, I pulled the actuator off to rotate the gear by hand to see if I can feel the door open & close and that was ok. Next step I had the compressor changed & that didn’t fix the issue either. While driving on the highway the air is much cooler but dead stop it’s back to warm on driver side cool on passenger side. Do you think maybe it could be the TXV or the evaporator?

    • @edlova1683

      Update. It ended being the expansion valve that wasn’t letting the refrigerant flow correctly throughout the evaporator

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it just happened after work was done, then I would double check work. Some things I would look at for no heat: low coolant level, air in cooling system, proper operation of engine coolant temp (ECT) sensors (ECT 1 and ECT 2), thermostat issues, air mix motor issues (especially if it is a dual climate control system), recirculation control motor issues.
