I love speedrun videos like this, since it'll be like super in depth and technical just so the narrator can hit you with something like "Food Dashing" midway through the run
I swear speedrun techniques are like finding out Santa Claus actually is real after all. In a game already chock full of secrets, it's wild to see not only how it's done, but think of how it was even discovered. We used to have the Game Genie to break the rules, but even that was nothing compared to how the speed running community sometimes literally rewrites the game code to shave off seconds to the credits.
As a man who could never perform any sort of competitive speed run in this game (im too much of a loot goblin), the SOTN community never ceases to amaze me with their creativity

Now I want to see a glitch less version where you go for minimum kills, EG. Succubus needs to be killed for the Gold Ring, but Beezlebub has nothing required to kill Dracula and this must be left alone.
Plot twist that red skeleton is the real master of death and the true ruler, Dracula is just pretending lol final boss the red skeleton and can never really beat the game.

This is one of the oldest speedrun categories and it's based on the game's kill counter on the menu, which remains at 0 the whole run, hence the name. That's why killing Dracula doesn't count either, since the counter can't be accessed after the final battle (and also Dracula doesn't really "die" at the end, this is a Castlevania after all) 😆
Personally for self imposed challenges i prefer to go the emotional route. Beating SotN after a devastating breakup. Kill Dracula while wondering when it was that Jenny stopped loving you. But also, this is just a bad joke and i'm really hoping none of you have hard feelings in regards to someone named Jenny.
Hi, is there a reason for fire boomerang jump not to be used in the low part of the high column to gravity boots? 🤔 I'd imagine that'd be much faster than using the claymore. Is it due to the screen transition?
Very entertaining video! Question: around 10:00, why double jump resets cannot be used? It looks like the height gained by wolf raising with the claymore is much lower.

Random nitpick, but the library glitch is a negative overflow, not an underflow. This is a super common mistake. Underflows are only possible in non-integer types (like floats) and occur when a non-zero number is too small to be represented by the data type and ends up rounding to zero. Any bug that wraps around the maximum value of a range (positive or negative) is an overflow. Obviously not terribly important to the video, but thought you might find it interesting.
Around 15:15, how do you get 15% chance ? A Geometric distribution with p=0.0228 would give a Cumulative distribution function for k=4 of 8.81 % .No ?? I get 7 tries for 15% of getting the item.

The philosophy behind killing the first dracula with him coming back to life could be said of every non-boss enemy in the game.
They're not the same, Dracula simply has an infinite supply. He steals man's souls and makes them his slaves.
