Thanks for having me on for this video DB! Always love chatting about Ecclesia's glitches and routing stuff, glad to share it with everyone. I'd also like to give a shoutout to Valyssa from the speedrun server - she was the person who initially noticed that the map pins were weirdly placed and would crash the game when moved around, which was the spark that led to us discovering hyperspeed and all the other game-breaking memory corruption stuff!
It's crazy that a ton of glitches in these older games can be summed up to: Do a thing and 1 frame later try to do another thing you're not supposed to but the game lets you anyways. Great video, Halgorithm is built different
My cousin was doing these glitches back in 2003 in the back of the school bus. Speedrunners only know how to cheat lie hack their way to the top of the leaderboards...I am very smart
Its either a long and thought out process using years of trial and error or an accident from someone who wasnt glitch hunting, theres no in between lmao
It's funny that despite all the glitches, you still spend most of the run just obtaining the Dominus Glyphs, because you still need them to punch Dracula in the face. If only there was a way to trick the game into thinking that you are on Albus Mode for that one particular battle...
Can't believe Albnoa wasn't even mentioned, smh I wonder if the reason you can get the Good Ending by teleporting out of a Bad Ending is because the game defaults to the Good Ending path akin to Richter in the throne room. Like you start out with the Bad Ending, you get out of the room before doing the thing and gain access to the Manor again through unintended means, you travel back to Albus, the game knows you're on the Bad Ending path but is so confused, it slips in a Good Ending flag since it's the default state of the room (essentially Schroedinger-ing the whole thing), it considers you on the Bad Ending enough that you actually do the Bad Ending and see everyone you failed to rescue, the game saves itself on its own but saves the Good Ending flag with it, you kill Albus again with your Good Ending flag going into the fight, you're still on the Bad Ending path though so you get teleported to Barlowe, but since you fought Albus with Good Ending flag set, that lets you fight and kill Barlowe, and because you kill Barlowe, the game knows for sure you're on the good ending path.
I've been a massive Castlevania fan since Simon's Quest. For whatever reason, Order of Ecclesia is probably my comfort pick for favorite in the series. Very cool to see some new life and fans visiting the game... or just the series in general for that matter.
Love the content, but I have to say, I love most of all the Dewprism/Threads of Fate music can be heard for the explanation at the end! Wish that game didn't get abandoned.
Damn, love this so much. Insane glitches, especially map pin glitch. Really highlights how one glitch can break the developer's assumptions in other contexts, with how magical ticket glitch enables so many other glitches to be useful.
Man, my mouth was open for most of this video. There's just so much raw time and effort that goes into exploring these glitches, especially at this stage of infancy when the glitches aren't even fully explored for the optimum setups. Massive kudos to everyone involved for their hard work and tireless effort on hashing out these details. Thank you for keeping speedrunning interesting for the rest of us :D
hi daxam top 5 harmony of dissonance randomizer player it's me luicho x the top 3 harmony of dissonance randomizer player and top 1 fan of halgorithm who is the top 2 harmony of dissonance randomizer player btw
I was so relieved hearing Halgorithm pronounce ecclesia correctly because you would finally learn how it is said, and then immediately after that you just pronounce it wrong again anyway... Edit: Sorry, that was uncalled for, I'm just having a rough week
There was one glitch I came across when playing Order of Ecclesia (cannot recall if it was my second or third playthrough) where I caused Death to be stuck mid animation of his most powerful attack. He couldn't move and it became a one sided battle. To this day, I have no idea how I managed to make that happen except I theorized it might have to do with timing when using a combo attack with light and scythe. This was with the original DS game, on a 3DS. Doubt that extra info helps.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel like getting the bad ending should count; not this game, not any game. I'm glad you guys at least did something to make it so you got the good ending with it!
My word, I've never seen such a stupid disciple smh Should've just listened to her master and used the pieces of [Dominus] rather than abusing the magic of tickets, doesn't she even know [how this world works]??

@@GilMarcellana-o4t If I recall correctly, yes.
I don't have the words to explain how hilarious it is to see the crab boss get smashed by the elevator, AND THEN Shanoa walks into the room.

I wouldn't call these levels linear, I would call them segmented. That also illustrates much better why the speedrun is the way it is.

Dammit dragon, you just made me buy the dominus collection. Haven't played ecclesia in around a decade though I just hit new game I'm stoked 😊

Posting for the (H)algorithm! o7 Great video as always, the editing is 👌
Ecclesia is my favorite from the Castlevania series. It has so many great ideas.
I'm surprised at how good this video is. You made seem the workings behind the glitches seem very interesting!
commenting to keep the speedrun explainations coming. love this content a lot

I just realized I don’t remember this game at all. I know I played it, but I do not remember all of this.

Lovely video. :)
I don't know if it's well known, but you can soft lock against dracula when he does the post death blast, by flying into a corner.
That happened to me in my casual playthrough LOL. Very funny stuff
i love this kind of videos
Anyone got some of that algo syrup?
Crazy how one of the glitches was found by accident by just mashing buttons in the inventory.
Also like a VHS touch on the video.
Cinnamon
Skipping the crab is just the cherry on top.
I preferred the speedrun without glitches
nice :)
Love the video nevr played OOE but it looks fun
I really hope they dont discover a credits warp with this glitch. Credits warp, ACE and SRM are cool exactly once then it just kind of kills a scene
I see where you are coming from, but usually that stuff gets banned or relegated to a separate category. I don't think it would kill the game

another banger ofc
If I’ve learned anything, it’s that speedrunners should probably refrain from calling things unbreakable.

If OoE wasn't so broken it would be the soulsborne of the series
Are these glitches new to Dominus Collection, or do they work on DS too?
Are these glitches exclusive to the new collection or do they also work on the original?
