Your killing it on console def the best AoE2 channel for console players keep it coming for real.I got a lot of catching up to do,haven’t played in 20 years lolol
I found this video to be quite useful, one thing that I recommend at the very beginning is to build 2 houses with your starter villagers. The micro is extremely different than on pc so your build order might not be exactly the same as on pc but could be a great base to jump from
not here to back seat or anything just thought i would like to share my opinion to some of the new players coming in here, note that i haven't even played this game online nor have i played in quite some time but i have watched some pro games in the past, i believe the most optimal opening strategy would be to make 2 vills build a house and make the other one also build a house since if you dont have atleast one house and the start of the game you can only train 1 vill before getting housed which in result leads to tc idle time which isn't good especially for really early game, good video tho! keep it up.
Yea I definitely feel what killbot is saying, I normally select 2-3 vills and then ill pre setup house buildings one after the other, before they even start working on the first they'll have 14 houses queued and waiting for those hammers. And then keep up the mass farming/ gathering nodes nearby. Once you hit a new age, hit research upgrades so your rss output increases as you continue throughout the ages. And you can scan for stone/gold nodes outside your vision line, and follow with a few kill troops to defend those vills.
There is an effort made, but the build order is not efficient New players, my console allies, AOE2 has a very meta way of playing the dark age for every civ. AOE2 is a difficult game to play online and win. First 3 vills build 2 houses, bring livestock as close to TC as possible. Queue vills onto livestock, and rally 6 total villagers onto the food. If you want to understand the game, watch pro players like Viper, Hera, Daut, MBL, etc. Hera has a good tutorial series. Spirit of The Law is also a good AOE2 creator
@@kalui96 it’s not a case of touch grass if you play online with false info new players will rage be confused and quit the dark age does have a meta basic start that’s easy to do on controller if you put a little time in.
Good introduction video! I agree with the others about the build order start but then again you never stated that you're showing the optimal build order start. 17:40 Important point I'd like to add regarding differences between civilisations is that civilisations always lack certain common technologies and units. The difference in common unit and technology availability will affect your approach to the game far more than unique units and unique techs.
You need to really work on your build order. Maximize all the short cuts. It's key to hit the right buildings at the right time to Maximize your defense and attacks. You can chain commands to your villagers by holding left trigger.
It's good, but the lack of camera rotation makes it hard to place items when your view is obstructed, unit reaction times are too slow and clearing things like small forests takes far too long even when fully upgraded. Also, the A.I builds everywhere so i'm having to build a military first in order to contain it and stop it building on my doorstep.
Dude, soooo many hours of my life went into this game when I was in high school. I used to tell my mom, "but it has a lot of historical information I learn when I play. It's got Joan of Arc and Genghis Khan in it!"

Hopefully you cannot even match make with actual PC players. I don't know what website you would go to to play against console players if I was on my PC.
If you guys want to cheese like hard fucking core against random bots just focus on building villagers for farms and wood (I usually have around 50 by 18 minutes)then build a scout army of 10-15 as fast as possible. After that rush the enemy and focus on villagers. If you can take out 15-20 villagers before 20 minutes you won that’s check mate. This is also around the time where you want to consider going for some gold incase they fend off the first wave and need to upgrade to knights. I don’t always get a lot of villagers buts it’s enough. This game is really all about who can get the most resources the fastest. More resources = big army. Take out their villagers they can’t build anything or gather. I don’t know how this would work against pros but it seems to work well against randoms. Undefeated after 17 games with this strategy.

A really good start-up strategy for a instant booming economy immediately build a Mill and three or four houses have your peasants start building Farms get Lumber Mills ready mining camps ready everything economic micromanage and bounce back and forth quickly trying to establish everything and under 3 minutes by five minutes you should have around 15 to 20 civilians then just set your pie chart to balanced by 8 minutes and you can advance your civilization and have over 1,000 resources in every category from their build two or three Barracks or Stables and spam a bunch of units that only require meat and wood then build a castle near the front line of combat a wall directly around the castle Bill a few trebuchet set your units to guard them and begin your assault I play games online and win in less than 30 minutes usually every time
Upgrade all your units as early as possible and note a specific number of unit types are required for different attacks you want to destroy a town center I'll say you need at least 14 units you want to destroy a castle you're going to need at least one trebuchet and around 25 units try to be quick with your micromanaging because your enemy will quickly upgrade in fortify and possibly be aggressive early before you're ready this isn't a game of fishing you should never just be relaxed going slow and casually if you are frantically fortifying multitasking and preparing you will likely be either undefeatable or a force to reckon with
My game on XS is so laggy. It’s almost impossible to play. I have turned my setting to low. Even when I just play the campaigns. Online is a shit show for latency.
It was my biggest worry with this game but it is 🔥🔥🔥they did such a good job with the button layouts obv much faster and convenient on K&M but still crazy control on the sticks
This game should not be on Xbox One there needs to be a cap limit too much lag destroys the game you will never have a chance against PC players it's stupid don't cross play it's f****** stupid
This game needs to come off of cross play no more cross-play make it playable on Xbox console there needs to be cap limits on buildings too much lag too much lag ruins the entire game
Especially on giant maps where people just build build build and trees block your way you have to use catapults to break through them some of the worst maps ever
Don't listen to this kid. He doesn't know much, if anything about the game. When he sent his scout out to explore, which normally uncovers the fog on the map, he placed individual waypoints. Duh. He obviously doesn't know that the scout has an "Auto Scout" feature. You turn this on by selecting your scout and pressing Y. The fact that he doesn't know this BASIC gameplay mechanic, shows how little he actually knows. Now, I'm sure he'll respond and say that he knew about this feature all along, but if he did, he would've used it. There are TH-camrs that really know the game. Go watch them if you want to learn.
I wouldn't bash the guy for that. I play on PC and i barely use auto scout until I've scouted a good portion of my surroundings and my enemy's base. When I'm scouting I use waypoints. If I'm not scout rushing ill auto scout. To me auto scouting seems much handier on the console, but its always good to have full control of your scouting to be more deliberate. I've learnt from other more skilled youtubers yes, but don't bash the guy! Just correct him respectfully and move on!
No need to get so pumped up dude. Everyone's just trying to help each other in the community with what they got. Now he's trying that for the Xbox players.

It gets so laggy where you can't even control anything and a PC player will have no problem kicking your ass
Especially on giant maps where people just build build build and trees block your way you have to use catapults to break through them some of the worst maps ever
@@arcadeius7817 or just get a series x and it runs just as good as pc lol
Very nostalgic
Jeez I'm just trying to help new players, take it easy bro
It's not that deep bro you don't auto scout until you've uncovered most of the area around your TC if at all
FS you’re a bit nippy mate, give the lad a break
