I long for the days to see the game optimized better. Before the patch that introduced Vulkan, I used to get more performance than this with a 5800X3D, 64gb, and a 6800XT at 1440p. And after moving to 4k with a 7900XTX I still had more performance than this. Then the Vulcan patch came and the game has never run the same for me again, I lost about half my performance and nothing I've done had brought it back. My 9800X3D finally shipped yesterday, can't wait to get the new system built and see how it handles things. Your low GPU utilization shows that you're likely still CPU limited in the station where you spawned, you're probably single core bound, which won't show looking at overall CPU utilization. Unless you were using DLSS just to put more load on the CPU, I'd absolutely be playing native.
Great, but I have two observations: 1) According to the link on your description your RAM is CL 30, not CL32. They do have vulkan. I was wondering why you weren't using it. Also notice how your FPS drops by almost 30% or more (depending on where you are in the game) when you go to cockpit view? Then back to normal with F4 external view of the ship? Ya, that is a huge issue that should be reported. I get the same issue, going from 80 FPS from external view on the polaris down to 30 FPS with cockpit view in the Polaris. Here's the funny part, If you store your ship at a gas station after that happens, then call it back out, it will clear up the FPS in and out of the Polaris, but once you start the polaris it happens again. I am suspecting a memory leak of sorts with the UI but can't prove it yet. I have 64GB of RAM myself and SC uses up to 25GB. I had to downclock my RAM some because using 2 different speeds and compatibility, at 3000Mhz instead of the faster ram running at 3466Mhz. DDR4 vs your DDR5. Also on a 3080 and 10900k so you have better hardware than I do. I do use Vulkan and DLSS, but rather or not I don't it does nothing with the framerates. This performance issues inside the cockpit with MFD have been in the game for ages. There have been reported many times and I think the devs are pretty well aware about it. It happens as well on foot but it’s less noticeable.
Mem speed and fclk + ratio is extremely important for Zen 4/5. So I really recommend setting up the memory and finding the reason for the stability issues. Like this I honestly think youre leaving performance in the double digit percentages on the table. I would be really happy about some feedback since I might be building pretty much the same system with a different gpu and I plan on going 8400 ram in a 2 to 1 ratio. But from Zen 4 experience the system should easily be able to handle 6000 to 6400 Mts. Might be a MB issue or Vmem is too low. Also the Zen 4 mem controllers at least didnt really like dual rank with 4 sticks.
I’ve been gaming in 4K for the past 5 years.. nearly 6.. and I couldn’t go any lower, the crispness and clarity is unreal. The only thing better than that is 8k+ but we won’t be seeing 8k 120hz in years tbh. Maybe in the next 4 years :)
Can you do a benchmark with the same setup again but including a Frametime graph? Because only then you can see the real stutters and framedrops and the graph alone tells so much more then only the fps and such :D

brother man, I'm not a tech reviewer or a benchmark youtube channel, I'm just some schmuck who managed to get ahold of a 9800x3d and posted it on youtube for people to check out or get an idea of FPS numbers with my hardware.
@Mistasandman I know. I was kidding. I was on the fence on buying a 9800x3d and was waiting for a sacrificial lamb such as yourself to push out a video like this. Also... do you remember if cig Said how multicore the game will be? FYI don't take offense to the sacrificial lamb. I am still kidding
@@Eli9A nah all good, as for multicore, years ago I remember them mentioning that they do utilize all cores, here's a quote from Silvan in a thread named "Current and projected CPU core count": "as of now we are already utilizing all cores. However, there are two threads (Main Thread and Render Thread) which have a very high utilization depending where you are in the game. In draw call heavy scenes like Lorville, Newbab etc. the game is mostly bottlenecked by the RenderThread. This is quite a big dealbreaker at the moment and is the major reason why the game is so slow in big locations and why maxed out single thread performance is still so important for Star Citizen. Gen12 along with Vulkan will improve this massively. The first step will be the new Gen12 renderer which will already improve performance by a big margin due to improved Render Thread performance. Starting with 3.14 we will be slowly rolling out parts of gen12. However, you will see the big performance improvement only once everything is fully transitioned, specifically once we enable the gen12 scene rendering. In parallel we are working on the vulkan backend which comes along quite nicely as well. It is to be expected that we can roll out vulkan shortly after the full Gen12 renderer is working. Once that is done we will push into parallelizing the whole scene rendering even more and get rid of the entire Render Thread. When this is done the rendering will be utilizing all available cores as much as it can and we should no longer be bottlenecked by the rendering."
Why the F* are you not maxing those graphic settings? That's just so silly, ya know your GPU is never hitting 100% usage nor near it right? You're wasting your hardware, if you're using upscaling at least make sure the GPU is actually the bottleneck lol
Because if you knew anything about the settings, you'd realize that even if you max out the other graphical settings, the CPU would still bottleneck because of how the game is, But I'll humor you in the next test and you'll see that FPS difference is minimal with them enabled and turned off.

So you have same fps (less when you are in hangar or quantum) than a 7900XTX/7950X3D in native 1440p on ultrawide G9, for twice the price...sorry dude but maybe do something with your PC, on stream i'm between 130 and 150 fps with mine 😉
What about the 9950x3d plus 5090
brother man, I'm not a tech reviewer or a benchmark youtube channel, I'm just some schmuck who managed to get ahold of a 9800x3d and posted it on youtube for people to check out or get an idea of FPS numbers with my hardware.
@@Eli9A nah all good, as for multicore, years ago I remember them mentioning that they do utilize all cores, here's a quote from Silvan in a thread named "Current and projected CPU core count":
"as of now we are already utilizing all cores.
The fact that the bounties still don't react one being shot by massive cannons shows that there's still a looong time to be finished
That is what server meshing with 4.0 should help with.
I've got some drops below 30fps with the same cpu 64gb ram and a rtx 2070
for reference for some ppl jere
Upgrade your GPU

would you say its worth it if you have a 7800x3D? playing on the same resolution with a 3090ti
probably not.
@@Mistasandman I think i'll get 64gbs of ram and call it a day, i'll wait for the next gen of x3D chips
Now do the PTU lol
Why the F* are you not maxing those graphic settings? That's just so silly, ya know your GPU is never hitting 100% usage nor near it right? You're wasting your hardware, if you're using upscaling at least make sure the GPU is actually the bottleneck lol
its hard to get SC to actually max our gpu usage
Because if you knew anything about the settings, you'd realize that even if you max out the other graphical settings, the CPU would still bottleneck because of how the game is, But I'll humor you in the next test and you'll see that FPS difference is minimal with them enabled and turned off.
bottleneck 4080 gpu becomes weak for this cpu 7800X3D gpu 40% to max 70% the most of the time in the 40s
i also have a 4080 and i just bougtht the cpu 9800x3d and i diden t expect a lot of bottleneck
garbage CPU, Ultra 9 outperforms this in every aspect. AMD will go bancrupt very soon

you should have put more money in the GPU and less in the CPU.
I get more with a 5950X + 7900XTX + 64GB memory !
Iam still not CPU bottlenecked in this game at high res / max settings.
So the only upgrade Ill be looking at is the next line of GPUs
@dkphantomdk 4080 was all I could afford at the time, and I'm not upgrading to a 4090 after I had the 4080. I'm not a tech reviewer or benchmarker. I'm just some random dude who got ahold of the 9800x3d.
Ironically in this game there may be a lot of instances where you most certainly will be CPU bottlenecked.
Actually from what I can tell at no point was he GPU bound in this benchmark, so this purchase is the only thing that he could have done to increase his performance.
@@Lightitupp1 you would be correct, the game is more CPU bound than it is GPU bound; if you take a search on the forums and other places, you'll notice that CPU bottlenecking is the main restriction this game has against everything and anything.
