I have a Martini Cadet chambered in 22 K Hornet. I agree with you regarding " dont hotrod the hornet" , extraction issues will resùlt . Its the centrefire round least likely to disturb the neighbours and used to be cheap to reload powderwise, not so much today. Good job CW helping educate and inform us on reloading options. 🇦🇺
For the most part the K Hornet is a forgotten little gem. It's a shame as it is such a versatile little cartridge. Light loads can nearly duplicate hot 22LR (cast bullets) or 22 Mag with jacketed bullets. If loaded hot it makes a great 200+ yard varmint rifle. Some of the older gentlemen at the range when I was a kid in the 70's shot them and I was always surprised at how quiet it was compared to the .223, Yes, its louder than a 22LR but there's a substantial difference between it and the 223/5.56 that is so common. It also uses quite a bit less powder so it's a little cheaper to reload for than the 223/5.56. The original 22 Hornet is just fine but the K version just makes it better
Traded for a cut down Winchester 43 in Hornet 40 years ago. The receiver looked like beaver board ,there were so many d&t holes in it. After the first shot, I found it was a K Hornet. That one got away from me. Thanks for the memories. Frank
I have no experience with the K Hornet but the case design looks much better. The regular Hornet and 25-06 Rem were the first two cartridges I loaded for on a press as a mere lad, right after 25-20 with a Lee Classic Loader. Forty grain plastic tip bullets transform the Hornet into a legitimate 300 yard rodent gun. During the plandemic, I sold many of the Lee Dipper sets off my gunshow tables. They are great to have on hand. Thanks C-Dub!
You're spot on with the hornet case life. They like to stick in chambers if they're loaded close to maximum also. The standard hornet is actually my preferred crow gun. Open a window on the second floor of your house overlooking a mowed hay field, sit about 6 feet back from the window with the lights out, makes the perfect blind. The big benefit of the hornet in that situation is lack of muzzle blast, still noisy, but it won't pressurize the room so much.
Cool CW, I was shopping for a 22 Hornet last year. I never did get one, but I still wouldn't mind getting one. I wasn't aware of the 22K Hornet, but now I am. Thanks for the info on and great video as always.
Love the Hornet, saw the "K" when I was a kid. Haven't seen one in over 50yrs. Friends of Dad's had a rebarreled M53 (I think) for Jacks. Great cartridge, thanks for the re-education. 😁👍🦶🪶🇺🇸
Agreed this slow down watch what doing. People rely way to munch on the auto power drops. Why said last 35rem video why like lee dipper sorten powder or load only few rds.
Very cool! Last year I picked up a set of RCBS DIES for the K-hornet. I haven't built a rifle for it yet. The easy one would be stubbing a single barrel and I have a nice, light, small frame Turkish 410 that I'm thinking of using. I'd really like a bolt action and have considered modifying a small ring Mauser. So many projects, but work gets in the way. Speaking of which, I got to go now! Thanks for sharing! Rat
I’m sure it’s me, but every once in a while my powder measure gives a light load and I get a squib. Maybe this would keep me from missing a light load. 😂
The hornet could do with a rimless re-design with "K"-like geometry. FN5.7 just ain't it. Something between the 22SCAMP and 22spitfire, with a .300 rim it could fit in the same bolt face as 22wmr. Interestingly enough, the straight-wall version of such a cartridge would probably land at .257. 25carbine? That would be cool.
I always chamfer Case mouths before putting in the gunpowder because I don't want brass shavings in my powder charge, or chance spelling the gun powder, brass shavings in the loaded cartridge would not be ideal for prolonged barrel Life or accuracy. But do it that way if you want to. It just doesn't make much sense to me.
I usually do before hand as well. But it wont harm anything its a very slight amount and it is far softer then barrel steel. More than likely would be melted in the powders ignition anyhow.

The KE Hornet that Kimber chambered is very nice.

Mornin Brother! I have used the Hornet @ over 200 on Woodchucks and Coyotes in my 14" Contender years ago. It worked very well! 🇺🇸🤘🏼🙏

@@cw2a 🤔🧐
I seen the "K" hornet in reloading books, but not in the wild.
I do like the "standard" 22 Hornet. 👍
Good afternoon CW . I have never seen one until now . Good video and thanks for sharing 👍🇺🇸
Ooh its a good one!! Glad ya enjoyed!!
They are called Lee dippers for a reason , not scoops . Like you showed , dipping is where you get the accuracy.
🙏❤️🩹🇺🇸❤️🩹🙏

Yup it is!! 🤘🏼🙏🇺🇸🙏🤘🏼
👍🤠🇺🇲 Good morning CW.
Morning Six!
Found a few of those cases at the range a while back, there's a few people around here that use it on the deer.
❤️🩹🙏🤘🏼🙏❤️🩹
Lee can make your M style expander.
Yes I see I have a couple to try!!
Thanks man!! 🤘🏼🙏🇺🇸
Once again I click on a CW Longshot Video and I Learn😁🤓👍👊
Thanks!
Thanks brother!! I should have a 265g 10mm mold by early July. (400 Legend mold)
Powder throwers are similar to the scoops in they throw a set amount of powder and then you trickle in the rest of the powder.
I like scoops alone for light plinker loads like this. Just verify powder dump on a scale and go!!

Morning Rat!! I have a SUPAH HEAVY BARREL Savage 340 project to finish in hornet.
I know nothing of this round so thank-you CW!
Its a fun one!! 🤘🏼🙏❤️🩹🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hello 👋 CW!!
Never seen one of these in person 😢 would like to try one before I am senile 😂
Hahahaha. Its just another "22"!
Good morning 🌞👍🤠
Good morning, Mark!!❤️🩹🇺🇸🙏

Nice cartridge! That old Unique is valuable, I know some loaders that don't like new Unique and miss the original stuff!
Really! I have not herd this! I have new as well just using up old first. 🇺🇸❤️🩹🙏
Awesome!! Did not know about the k
🇺🇸🙏❤️🩹🙏🇺🇸
Good Morning CW!!! Good info, I too learned something know!! No we are not perfect or we would not need Jesus!🙏😀👍
Amen!! 🙏🙏❤️🩹🙏🙏
I would assume it’s gotta help with accuracy 110% as well
It is said that it doesn't and one should choose an accurate Hornet first. Im not sure this rifle shot well as hornet as well.
Thanks For Sharing 🤓👍🏻
🇺🇸❤️🩹🙏
I too have several different sizes of some older powder by herco , Winchester, some others . Just gotta work them loads up to be careful.
🇺🇸❤️🩹🙏❤️🩹🇺🇸
Hiya C-Dub. That’s an interesting round for sure. I had never seen one. Thanks! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Morning Walter!! Yes sir she is a goodun'
Walter quite popular over sea in Australia 🇦🇺 and the uk 🇬🇧.
What the difference between hornet and "K" hornet?
The K reduces body taper and ads a sharper shoulder. Making a more durable and less case
Stretch.
I use scales and a powder thrower
Yup. I use all the options. ❤️🩹🤘🏼🙏
So there are 22's that can be reloaded
Just lil bigger then a 22 Magnum. Sure!
👍👍
Morning Don!
Nope I don't, great little cartridge though morning
Mountain man
Morning MM!! 🇺🇸❤️🩹🙏❤️🩹🇺🇸

Gee that keg of Unique looks too old you should send it to me, I'll get rid of it for you.
