Hey dude, the Japanese brands have been in the American market for so much longer than Kia or Hyundai, which are from South Korea. That could explain why the Japanese cars are selling much more than the Korean cars since they've had a longer history in the market. Korean cars have definitely gotten so much better in the past 2-3 years, and I love both Korean and Japanese cars. Korean cars aren't as bad as you might think they are. Regarding, Japanese cars I definitely agree with you, most of them are reliable and cheaper to repair than when you repair German cars.
I believe it was designed and largely built in the USA ... would have been nice if the 'ol autopact was still around to benefit Canada with some work up here as Kia sells well here (even with only half the warranty). HOW they build cars is pure Korean technology -- and it is industry eclipsing right now.
I also thought I would never own a Kia because they have always built and marketed trash. That all changed 4 years ago when Kia hired the chief design engineer from Audi, who brought 2 design engineers from BMW with him. The quality, fit and finish changed dramatically, very quickly. I now own a 2018 Sorento, and a 2020 Telluride, and I am extremely proud of them both. I have owned or driven high end cars for all of my driving life, and Kia is equal to or superior to any vehical in their class, disregarding price point. And there's the fact that most drivers can't check their egos at the door and get over their brand bias. I have a relative who feels greatly deminished if she doesn't own a Lexus, even though my Telluride blows her away

Micah, oh Micah!!! You're having a fun time, man! Love your humor and enjoy watching. You should do a review of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade, in my opinion, that SUV is better than the Telluride. What do you think?
Love how this is still cheaper fully loaded than a smaller, much cheaper feeling, Chevy Blazer and others like it. Way to go, Kia! I hope the Palisade is in similar pricing range also. Hyundai has a somewhat better image than Kia right now but I hope they don't charge a lot because of that.
The interior materials and features will drive the price a bit higher, I suspect. But the Hyundai/Kia conglomerate has a ceiling on what they can charge for the Palisade without moving it into MSRP territory of the forthcoming Genesis SUV.
How are you going to replace a Silverado to this..... if you would've said a traverse then sure but those are 2 complete different vehicles for different purposes..
The one thing that I don't ever see a review on is the automatic tailgate has a height adjusting feature to it. for shorter people can't reach all the way to the top of the tailgate you pull it down to the desired height hold the power button down and it sets the tailgate to that height.
The Telluride does have that. You just raise the tailgate to whatever height you like it, hold the button for 3 seconds and from there on in that will be the max height it will open. Helpful for people who park in a garage and have clearance worries too.
@@RealElectech , I had to do the same thing.I went into the dealership to get some work done on my Nero, lost the whole underskirt from a flood. I walked into the dealership the Telluride was sitting on the showroom floor. Lol sales guy walked up to me and asked me if I needed help. I told him I said well I was here to get some work done on my car but it looks like I'll be taking that home.
I'm waiting for the Hyundai Palisade to come out before I buy, I think it's a little more luxurious with things like a all digital dash, quilted stitched seats....hopefully pricing is around the same.
Hyundai and KIA have a real knack for slicing a market segment between two very similar vehicles in a way that broadens the overall appeal of the combined vehicles. (Hyundai Santa Fe vs Kia Sorento, Kia Stinger vs Genesis G70, etc.) I'm expecting the Palisade to be priced a bit higher than the Telluride but I thought the top trim Telluride's MSRP would be over $50K. So what do I know. :)
Wait... didn't you review this one with your wife and kid a while ago?!? Either way, cool review! Though your other video is a more *real* as you drove with your family -- very cool! I really like the Tellyride and am looking forward to get one later this year or early 2020. I hope they add more exteruor colour options AND a better engine. Cheers and keep up the awesome and fun reviews coming!
I was in the dealership and ready to make a deal for the hefty discount....you know it's Kia. And left the building empty hand cause there's nothing in the lot and told me I gotta pay premium to get one fast. I think Kia crazy.
Nice review Michah. I think the Telluride represents an amazing value. You can spend as much on a loaded Sorento. 10 years or 100k Ltd Powertrain warranty.
That's true of the Honda Pilot and Passport, as well. In the Honda's, however, you have two rows of seats in the Passport vs three in the Pilot. The Sorento has a surprisingly accommodating third row suitable for occasional use. Personally, I prefer the smaller Sorento (189" vs 197" in length) for our family. The 3.3L engine in the Sorento is a bit peppier than the 3.8L V6 running the Atkinson cycle in the Telluride. But the overall performance and fuel efficiency are essentially equal. Since we use the third row of seats rarely but routinely hang a 3 bike rack on the back of the Sorento the 8" difference in length means we can close the garage door with the Sorento and could not do so with the Telluride. However, if one needs a third row of seats on a regular basis, especially for 6 or more passengers AND their gear/ luggage on a trip, the Telluride is the way to go. In terms of overall packaging "efficiency" (passenger space divided by overall length) the Telluride is the most efficient three row SUV on the market. (The Sorento comes in second.) In short, depending on one's priorities they're both excellent vehicles.

bought the Kia telluride a Lil after it came out my family really enjoys it, the roominess and comfortable fit for everyone, the drive is nice, I just wonder if I made the right choice and at times even mention to my wife about trading it in for a explorer, Honda pilot, hilander or even going to a Tahoe or Yukon, my reason is everyone pushes the price point of how this vehicle is priced lower than others and your getting a good vehicle at a $32000 base price, and everything that comes with that deception I call it, because when I got my telluride it was marked up at base price $41500 for the lowest trim level, and all the dealers I called were marked up, when I went to look at the one I got they said over the phone price is negotiable and it's not set we'll work with you, and after the fact and I believe I got burned on it, my wife really liked it which was the reason we went with it and bought it, but I am still in a place of decision with it whether to trade in to a place like Toyota or for a Yukon who is not deceiving you with an advertised price and switch it up after, if anything these other companies will actually give you discounts on msrp and different incentives but Kia na, I did lose respect for the dealerships in a whole and Kia for allowing this deception.
@Randy Jackson idk what ur talking about i own two KIA both of which are older models one 2007 kia Sedona with 276,656 miles and a 2011 KIA Sorento with 176,3900 both of which I never had problems with
called Kia dealer in texas. The price for SX prestige package is 57,000 without taxes, With taxes its + 60K. They say that they cannot keep with the demand, so the MSRP had to be matched. What the hell !!
The Telluride looks so good, but I wish we got the black rims here in Canada, we just get silver ones. I can’t wait to see the Hyundai Palisade when it comes out.
But in Canada you get Sand and Mud all-terrain modes in addition to snow. I would happily trade you a US version for a Canadian version. Rims can be changed easily, but not ECU, headend and running hardware.
Gotta say, I love the effort Kia put into their large 3 row SUV. But the competition is fierce and they wont last in this competition if they dont fix a few things and update the interior. But overall, great car to add to any car collectors collection.
@KellyBlueBook Hey Micah, we’ve been waiting for this review and you didn’t disappoint! If judging by the amount of fun you-and James-had during your time with this vehicle, I think owners, drivers and passengers are in for a treat. Also, this vehicle is so nice, I think it is going to be a status symbol, not unlike the Range Rovers and Cadillacs that are many drivers vehicle of choice. It’s just that good! Honestly given the choice on how to spend $120,000 who would choose the BMW X7 optioned like this versus the Kia Telluride SX AWD + Kia Stinger GT + $40,000?!? That’s at least two years of college at a nice school and you STILL got the sensing rear tailgate and ventilated rear seats! 😂
I gotta see a kbb Toyota Highlander, Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, and Hyundai Pallisade comparison. The reliable 3 row SUV competition is stacked. You guys can do it
Kenny Sanders Absolutely! It is a huge step up from the 2013 model I had, which was still a great suv. But words cannot describe how impressive the 2019 model is.
The Santa Fe (Ulitmate) is a fine vehicle. I prefer its twin, the Kia Sorento for its third row and V6 engine but for those who want many of the same attributes with a turbo 4 and underfloor storage where the KIA's third row is stowed, it's a fine choice.
Hello Micah Man, Am I a “Sell Out” Liking the Nicely appointed Telluride with Features no one else offers. Quietness, 10 year Warranty, over our Expensive Domestics?
Previous video you had the tow hitch feature added but this one you didn't tow anything. So we still don't know how it performs while towing a camper or boat.
So do you program that remote trigger through the infotainment system? What's the default building that will be leveled? Does it vary by purchase location? Can I specify as part of the dealer prep after purchase?
I test drove the SX V6 a few weeks ago and I loved everything besides the powertrain. Really wish theh had either used the stinger turbo engine or possibly add the V8 from the k900
I saw the Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and Genesis GV80 at the DC Auto Show a few months ago. All three are even more good looking in person. All three are about the length of the Honda Pilot, the new Toyota Highlander, and the GM "Triplets"( Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave) and VW Atlas. They're BIG, but not full size big.
The best car reviewer.. Micah!!
Very honest review, i just drive one, very smooth, very powerfull engine, for the price can't beat it. Thanks!!
Nice job Micah. You keep outdoing yourself
Bryan Haver Thanks, man!
Im trying to save enough money for a Telluride or a Palisade to replace my trash silverado
How are you going to replace a Silverado to this..... if you would've said a traverse then sure but those are 2 complete different vehicles for different purposes..
Jimmy Martinez ill get whatever i want....
@@Jimmy_MZ Keep the 3rd row down permanently and ur basically driving a truck without the shitty handling of a truck lol.
I dont know how people can afford new vehicles these days.
@@Wodkaholic financing... If u have a good credit score u can finance for long periods w/o getting killed by interest.
By far the best car reviewer and channel on the Tube.
Kia, vastly superior machine!
Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palsisade, Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Nissan Pathfinder comparison please
Don't forget the GM Triplets (Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave), VW Atlas, Ford Explorer, Mazda CX9
Consumer reports.. Ascent wins
@@RealElectech thank you you're the first person I've seen in all the reviews for the telluride the appens to know this.
@@TheManhu01 no problem, 100% it's the case, I own a Telluride SX and adjusted it to open in my garage.
Micah what took you guys so long to review this SUV been waiting for a while that is the only channel I trust for my car buying thanks
Perhaps the waiting list for a press vehicle rivals that of the waiting list for delivery to customers. :)
Micah is right up there with "The Grand Tour" in his ability to deliver an entertaining vehicle review.
Not going lie, I actually love the rear passenger alert demonstration!
Dude LOVING the montages!!!!
i bought it this one im super satisfied SUV ever, Our childrens are much like than me.. ♡
Tachometer trying to replicate a PDK. 🤣
It’s a beautiful car .It looks like a mix between Lincoln Navigator and Range Rover .
Xc90 volvo
I love that car
Wait... didn't you review this one with your wife and kid a while ago?!?
Either way, cool review! Though your other video is a more *real* as you drove with your family -- very cool!
I really like the Tellyride and am looking forward to get one later this year or early 2020. I hope they add more exteruor colour options AND a better engine.
Cheers and keep up the awesome and fun reviews coming!
Hey Micah, whatcha been eatin lately? Hows that gym pass?
Calvin Hikes Low carb, minimizing sugar. Pushups and pull-ups. If I had to drag myself to the gym I’d never workout. 💁♂️
I immediately click to watch any video with Micah! ❤
When he said "so Daddy can..." My heart fluttered
Great Review, how is the transmission ? How is the engine power ? Is it as smooth as a GL 350 ?
I’ve seen so many of these since it went on sale. Local dealer can’t keep them on the lot.
I was in the dealership and ready to make a deal for the hefty discount....you know it's Kia.
And left the building empty hand cause there's nothing in the lot and told me I gotta pay premium to get one fast.
I think Kia crazy.
Hahaha...... they figured you got money thats why they wanted more 😂😂😂😂😂
Gas tank size/range?
(The Sorento comes in second.)
In short, depending on one's priorities they're both excellent vehicles.
Yes Stephen, they are both excellent vehicles, and I am fortunate enough to own them both.
Dude your like the funniest car reviewer I’ve known so in TH-cam. Love the videos you’ve log on TH-cam. That’s why we decided to buy the 2019 Honda CRV Ex L so my kids can go to college without sacrificing their college fund. Lol 😂
bought the Kia telluride a Lil after it came out my family really enjoys it, the roominess and comfortable fit for everyone, the drive is nice, I just wonder if I made the right choice and at times even mention to my wife about trading it in for a explorer, Honda pilot, hilander or even going to a Tahoe or Yukon, my reason is everyone pushes the price point of how this vehicle is priced lower than others and your getting a good vehicle at a $32000 base price, and everything that comes with that deception I call it, because when I got my telluride it was marked up at base price $41500 for the lowest trim level, and all the dealers I called were marked up, when I went to look at the one I got they said over the phone price is negotiable and it's not set we'll work with you, and after the fact and I believe I got burned on it, my wife really liked it which was the reason we went with it and bought it, but I am still in a place of decision with it whether to trade in to a place like Toyota or for a Yukon who is not deceiving you with an advertised price and switch it up after, if anything these other companies will actually give you discounts on msrp and different incentives but Kia na, I did lose respect for the dealerships in a whole and Kia for allowing this deception.
Best car reviews on youtube. No kids going to college
Before this came out with it's amazing value, I really was about the Mazda CX9.

I found this to be the most informative review that was online
I love my Telluride!!!!!
Kia moving to the top!
Randy Jackson Blah blah blah blah Kia is rated first in many categories... Honda and Toyota are now playing catchup
@randyJackson kia has really step their game Kia is at the top now so you can’t be mad at that
I wonder where Subaru is in all of this.. oh yeah number 1.
@Randy Jackson idk what ur talking about i own two KIA both of which are older models one 2007 kia Sedona with 276,656 miles and a 2011 KIA Sorento with 176,3900 both of which I never had problems with
Great photography in this video. I was wondering where you shot it? Thanks!
called Kia dealer in texas. The price for SX prestige package is 57,000 without taxes, With taxes its + 60K. They say that they cannot keep with the demand, so the MSRP had to be matched. What the hell !!
Why does the Tachometer move like that?
Because it's not working properly. Hopefully it's a problem with just this vehicle, and not a design error.
The Telluride looks so good, but I wish we got the black rims here in Canada, we just get silver ones. I can’t wait to see the Hyundai Palisade when it comes out.
They're twins under the skin but the Palisade aims for a more "near luxury" vibe compared to the Telluride's "adventure" feel.
But in Canada you get Sand and Mud all-terrain modes in addition to snow. I would happily trade you a US version for a Canadian version.
Rims can be changed easily, but not ECU, headend and running hardware.
dalex7777 I don’t drive is sand or mud, just a whole lotta snow in winter, so I don’t really need more drive modes.
My favorite part was the hug they shared :-)
I own a Kia Soul 2015.. It has reached it's limit.. Looking around for replacements when I stumbled on this beauty. For sure my next ride.
This has got to be the best car review I've seen yet. 😂
More montage; it was EPIC!!!!!
You guys can do it
Just look at consumer reports the vote is already in. The Ascent wins.
I want one sooooo bad. But I just purchased the new Santa Fe Ultimate.
Drew Croft Do you like the Santa Fe?
Quietness, 10 year Warranty, over our Expensive Domestics?
gene978 How is buying a car designed in California and built in Georgia selling out? A lot of GMC brands and Fords are foreign built.
My kia dealership offered a 20 year 200k warranty
Micah makes reviews very interesting 👍🏼
Previous video you had the tow hitch feature added but this one you didn't tow anything. So we still don't know how it performs while towing a camper or boat.
So do you program that remote trigger through the infotainment system? What's the default building that will be leveled? Does it vary by purchase location? Can I specify as part of the dealer prep after purchase?
Tom Weiland 😂
I test drove the SX V6 a few weeks ago and I loved everything besides the powertrain. Really wish theh had either used the stinger turbo engine or possibly add the V8 from the k900
New K900 is Turbo V6 only. But yes, would've been a nice option here. But they haven't applied it in a transverse engine layout yet.
Why is KBB so late on this?
TheJiggs666 Editing backlog. 😢
Howdy, great review as always!😸😸
I saw the Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and Genesis GV80 at the DC Auto Show a few months ago. All three are even more good looking in person. All three are about the length of the Honda Pilot, the new Toyota Highlander, and the GM "Triplets"( Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave) and VW Atlas. They're BIG, but not full size big. You will not go wrong with any of the three. The Hyundai Palisade should be out in a few months and the Genesis GV80 right after that. Kia Telluride has been in dealers for about a couple of months.
